As an Aussie who hasn't been to anywhere with land borders, driving alongside the border wall fascinated me. So did the music as we don't have much in the way of Spanish music or media here
I'm on a roadtrip in the Southwest and I actually drove on this highway yesterday. There's actually a section of it where you can look one way and see downtown El Paso and its rich suburbs and then look the other way and look at the impoverished cement houses in Juarez. It was really strange seeing signs warning drivers to watch out for undocumented people trying to run across the highway. It was also really weird to go to this park called the Chamizal National Memorial where you could sit at a picnic table not too far from the tall border fence with barbed wire on top.
Born and raised in El Paso, about a block from the beginning of this video. To me, it's Doniphan Drive until you hit the Anapra Interchange and it becomes Paisano Drive through downtown El Paso, and anything before or after that is just Highway 80, which, I believe, goes from So Cal to Florida. My paternal grandfather lived in So Cal and my maternal grandmother in Florida, so it always kind of freaked me out that we all lived on basically the same road.
TX Loop 375 is another interesting route in El Paso County, TX. I'm glad you recorded that footage. It's a very interesting beltway of El Paso, TX and I'm glad it's built as a contorolled access highway to bypass I-10. I mean, most drivers use I-10 to drive through El Paso, TX while TX Loop 375 is an alternate as a beltway.
Would you believe it’s been 11 months (June trip) and 9 months (August trip) since I been to Texas and they still haven’t sent me any toll bills from using their tolled highways? I feel I got the deal of the century.
As much as I love the drive, it's the soundtrack that's the star here! I had such a big crush on Selena when I was a high school student back in the mid-90s. I still wonder what her career would have taken her had her life not been tragically cut short. & now, it's time to continue the drive on I-10 Eastwards towards San Antonio.
She had so much talent and she has all the tools to be as big as Michael Jackson imo. She had it all. Plus being a crossover superstar helped her reach many different audiences.
Looks like a worthy project that got built. Kudos to El Paso. I can't also but dance in my chair to Selena while watching the video. Her life was cut way too short; she was on her way to super stardom. 🕺🏾
So happy you filmed this road during your time in El Paso, I’d been waiting for someone to make a high quality video of it, especially since the new construction they recently finished. El Paso truly has some amazing freeways for its size
Awesome video, InterstateKyle! This is one of my favorite drivelapse videos of all time! The music goes so well with the location. Oh, and I'm one of Selena's non-Spanish-speaking fans, so that gives me something in common with the late singer. I recall being shocked when I watched the 1997 movie _Selena_ and saw that she wasn't a Spanish speaker.
Border highway is actually a different route (US 85/former US 80 route on Texas Avenue, to Alameda [SH 20]) . I've only been back to El Paso a couple of times since 2016, but it looks like on the Westside, they were able to use a lot of the former ASARCO mill site and the former Globe Mills site for an "in-between" routing of Loop 375. It looks like it tied into the existing Loop 375 routing down by the bridges. Yeah, I remember my parents calling that part of Loop 375 "the border highway". But on the Westside, it was definitely the old US 80 Alt/US 85 route 😉
fun fact: the toll section of loop 375 has been free for the longest time now. i feel like our city gov gave up on actually charging people for driving it 😂
Unfortunately, El Paso gets Amber Alerts from all across the state since it’s a gateway to Mexico and the West - even though it’s sooo far from other metros.
Sure do miss my hometown. The sunny weather, mountains, safety, and food were surely taken for granted when I lived there long ago.

Thank you! The wall is way bigger in person than what this video makes it out to be!

I sure do miss my hometown a lot but when I watch your videos it makes me feel good
Thank you!

Even if it wasnt Texas, Selena is great driving music. 😀

Thank you for tuning in. :)
Neat design on those flyover bridges

Thank you! This freeway looked impressive from I-10, I just had to check it out! Plus it gives amazing views out into Mexico.
Spur 1966 is of major importance to UTEP: they beat Kentucky for the national title in men's basketball in 1966.

Wow, thank you Jason! I really appreciate the compliment! :)
At 3:12. ARRIVA LA BOWIE ! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
This is only the 1st video to hear Spanish musics in your video. It's a lit nice and relaxing.
Glad you liked it!
@@InterstateKyle Thanks Kyle! You can also play electronic songs like Tobu & Itro. I love those songs.
We all call it the border highway🥰

Nice drive and music:]
Fantastic stuff. Fascinating to see they built an expressway so close to the border, with Juarez being in view! Have you ever driven into Mexico?
Thank you! And no, I have not driven into Mexico.

THAT MAKES SENSE. I haven't gotten a toll bill in the mail from Texas for driving this road and its been 9 months at this point, lol.
Thank God. I was worried about getting a bill in the mail when I drove on it yesterday.
There Amber alert signs
