Wow great story about your Grandfather. The great memories one remembers with scent. The cinnamon in shulton old spice is incredible. Proctor & Gamble destroys everything they touch. I need to get me another Shulton bottle down to almost nothing...great take Matt

Thank you for this review. One of my grandfathers also wore this. I remember smelling this on him and seeing the old bottle on the bathroom counter.

What decade was your high school and college years? Mine was the 1970's and I should have bought cases of Old Spice edt and aftershave by Shulton back then. Instead, for some reason, in that decade English Leather was my go to until I found Aramis. Now that I think about it, I should have bought cases of those two also! They've all been refomulated. English Leather is by Dana still smells good but isn't as long lasting or smooth.

Matt, I have the same bottle from Shulton as you and smells perfect and strong. It' sad, that so much fragrances are reformulated today, but thanks to ebay for a lot of vintage fragrances :)

Old Spice was my grandfathers aftershave of choice too. I used to buy it for him at Christmas time and I loved the smell. I distinctly remember asking if I could get a bottle when I was really young (less than 10 at the time) and getting told no because it's an old mans scent.
I'll have to have a look on eBay after Christmas for some Shulton stuff because I bought a bottle in Morrisons a while ago and it didn't smell quite like I remembered from my grandads. To my nose thr P&G version smells a lot more baby powdery if that makes sense and not as spicy as I remember.
Would love to see more Old Spice related stuff on the channel. I'm addicted to their deodorants right now, I love Whitewater and one called Timber which is great too.

I would be really happy if P&G some day releases the edt version of it again. Brut has an edt version, this one... never heard of a modern day Old spice edt. It should last much longer.. The scent is awesome, but I only familiar with current formulation. It makes me think of milk by some reason, it's a bottle, I think..also things like surfing, living by the sea, somewhere in the South of England and it's summertime and you about to go out, maybe for a beach walk and you use Old spice before that day..something summery and sunny. The vintage one must be pretty much a powerhouse kind. And a very heartwarming story Matt! :) I also have a lot of nostalgic "scented" memories. People... my grandfather..childhood, places and emotions.

P&G produces an edt for the European market and the UK. Take a look: www.amazon.co.uk/Old-Spice-Original-Eau-Toilette/dp/B010SLISYU
I'm going to have a bottle soon so I can compare it to my US produced Old Spice Classic Cologne. The classic cologne opens with a somewhat synthetic scent but is definitely stronger and spicier than the classic aftershave, although they're not the old vintage formula, despite what P&G says.
The P&G bottles in the USA were still in glass in the early '90's and I think they still had the Shulton logo on the back. My early 1990's bottle after the sale was pretty strong, Once the licensing agreeement ended, P&G made them all.and apparently changed the formula to sweeten it a bit.
There 's a very good Old Spice Musk aftershave that's made in India and licensed by P&G. A few years ago, it was said that the Indian version of Old Spice licensed to MCPL by P&G waa very close to the original formula but that license expired and I think Rubicon took over. I have the Musk and I'm going to order the Old Spice Lime aftershave from India soon.

@@shave-a-thon3415 and how's that european EDT 2 years later? :)

@@dipdip8 I may be one of the few RUclipsrs who respond to 2 year old comments I made! Rarely do you see replies from the uploaders. Shortly after I posted the response 2 years ago, all the European sites who were able to ship colognes or aftershaves to the USA started having their stuff returned, so I still haven't been able to compare the European :"original" edt to the USA "classic" cologne. I will say the Indian version of the aftershave lasts longer than the USA version and the Indian lime is probably my favorite.

nice review. it still seems the same to me unlike tabac. splashed some on today and six hours later it was still there. they must have done something because in the 70s it faded within an hour. I loved brut in 72. it was divine and there soap on a rope. now I wouldn't have it on my skin. but old spice and tabac and green polo will always be in the collection

Unless your bottle was produced prior to 1993, in Clinton, NJ- you are not smelling the Schulton product. The Schulton bottles didn't have the yacht on them (except for their "sensitive" alcohol free stuff, which was rare)
Unless there were international packaging difference in the late 80's, You are reviewing the P&G stuff that was produced from 1993 onward. Specifically, your reviewed bottle is likely from the late 1990's to the mid 2000's. Unfortunately, you look foolish sniffing on P&G's stuff as if it were Shulton's superior juice: never rely on packaging for information... Especially packaging from P&G. Your binocular decanter is the legit deal, and I have several of those special decanters from the 1970's- nothing beats that smell.
The Schulton stuff was something special. My grandfather wore it, as did most WW2 vets. I am fortunate to have a hoarded supply of unopened stock ranging from the early 60's, until the Proctor and Gamble buyout in 1990. BTW, you are right about the "Cinnabon" thing, and that is the inteplay of vanillin and cinnalol. I am not willing to share it :)
