Paul, job well done mate. Your dad would be very proud of you. He certainly was a great influence in your life.
Reminiscing our loved ones brings a tear to the eyes and a smile to the face.
I miss my dad dearly everyday. He would shave with a Bic single blade disposable and Barbasol. Usually would work his way through a cigarette or two during the shave.
Single pass many times without “pickup” time. As you say, it was more a chore than a hobby in those days.
Keep your dad in your heart and mind and always cherish the memories made. We’ll see them again in Heaven.

I very much enjoyed the documentaries about Fred Dibnah. The way he drank his pint oh bitter always gave me thirst anxiety 🙂🍻
Much respect to your late father. Those type of people made the world an easier place for us to live in.
    Cheers!

@PaulHFilms another great detailed educational breakdown of wet shaving products with some heartwarming memories of your father. We carry the memories and the good traits of the ones we lost. In a way they continue living on by the good deeds one does in society. As always Mrs. H has maintained the highest level of standards in her floral arrangement game.

When you can stand there and feel the pride running through your veins as you remember your dad, and enjoy the classic Shulton, it'll never ever be a basic shave. These are the best shaves you'll ever have. We are with you Paul as you remember your father 👏🏻

Lovely video, Paul, and a great way to remember your father. I don't recall exactly what razor(s) my father would have used (he passed away in 1980); probably a Gillette HD Rocket, or maybe even an Aristocrat. When I started shaving seriously as an 18 year-old in 1966 the only advice my dad gave me was ''you'll regret it''. Maybe back then it was a bit of a chore but nowadays a good shave is something I really look forward to in a morning. My first ever razor was a Gillette Slim Adjustable (1966 L2) which I still have, and use, and still has its original case. My second was the Slim Twist like your father's. Bought in the late '60's, it was my 'go-to' razor; I loved it! Sadly, just like your dad's, it developed hairline cracks on the handle to the extent I had to get rid of it. My theory for why these cracks developed is that, way back, my father - and men like him - used to stand their razors in the wash basin in HOT water while they prepared their shaving soap and brush. This was OK if it was an all-metal razor; but with the Slim Twist (and I just copied what my dad did!) standing it in hot water caused expansion, and as metal expands at a greater rate than plastic... bingo! cracked handle.
In my father's day - and my early days of shaving - there were none of the lovely creams and soaps that are available now: it was Erasmic (or Wilkinson) hard soap in a plastic tub (both still available today) and a badger or boar brush. Mine was an inexpensive Wilkinson boar brush. I could go on; but, as you say, less jibber-jabber!
Take care. Paul. Love Mrs. H's floral arrangements - I'm quite envious of that talent! God bless; and as long as you keep remembering your dad in this and similar ways he will never be far away from you!

Hi Paul my dad passed away in February 1976 and he used a slim twist. He didn't use anything posh like Old Spice he used Parmolive shave sticks and occasionally Erasmic.
Very sad Parmolive sticks aren't made anymore lovely soap and lovely scent.
I've smelt Old Spice and Brut but they don't smell as I remember them.
Enjoyed the shave regards to Mrs H and yourself.
    Keep well and keep safe.

It's neat that you get to do this in memory of your father, Paul. It's something you love doing, and it's also something that you can do to almost sort of include him. It's like you said recently, that when you do the things that they do, in a way it does keep their spirit alive with you.

My dad's shaving routine was the exact same way. After work every time.
I shave 3 times a week. 2 during the week and once in the weekend. My weekday shaves are all evening shaves after work and my weekend Sunday shave is in the morning.
Please let Mrs H know her flowers are beautiful as always.

My dad was definitely an Old Spice guy too. His weapon of choice was the Schick Injector Adjustable and an inexpensive boar brush. When we moved to Southeast Asia in the mid 1970s the Old Spice wasn't available and he switched to Tabac.

Great shave in memory of your father Paul.
My father worked with the public most of his life. He was a butcher when he was younger, and then a bus driver in Sheffield for 25 years before his retirement. I can honestly say I never saw my dad with growth on his face. He had a shave every morning, even if he started work at 4:30, he would shave in the morning . He too used old spice. My dad passed away in 1993 so it’s 30 years since I last saw my dad and I miss him every day. God bless him.
    Paul

A lovely shave and tribute to your dad. It really is interesting to think about and compare the lives of past generations to our own. I know my dad used Old Spice at least sometimes, and certainly we gifted "soap on a rope" to him several Christmases when I was a child, I remember that. No idea what shaving apparatus he used; it's a shame really, but it just wasn't an interest of mine until quite recently. I checked out a Fred Dibnah video, jeez he had some guts, that man.

Beautiful Memories! The time goes so fast after them when our parents pass away. My father was also a hard worker. And shaving was for him more a necessary part of his life! How you say when my dad came late at night home. I took a bath and then a quick shave. No tam tam. To our loved ones in heaven!

Very nice Paul💈💈 Memorializing your father in a shave is something maybe more of us should do. I can't remember all the things my father used while shaving, but the smell of the bathroom was amazing. Sulton is a whole different world from today's Old Spice, IMO. SOTD: Gillette "Kind" cream, Stirling synth brush, Rockwell "6S" razor w/Feather blade, alum, witch hazel, Myrsol "Plastic" splash and Myrsol "Emulsion" to finish...Dreamy! Great video and results today. Respect to you sir. Enjoy!

Wonderful video Paul. Its touching to see you reflect on your father by using his old razor, it really is a blessing to have it. What I wouldn't give to have my dad's old Gillette. I came back to this video to comment after watching Fred Dibnahs chimney video...what an interesting fellow. Had to laugh when he talked of the advantage of having his man on the ground being a tea-totaler ...lol....he then talks of having a few pints while hammering bricks all day, to ease the pain...lol
Very entertaining, and touching video this morning...thanks bud. Have a great day
