I've been using a honing stone and it does work good. I tried it on my kitchen knives - Steel and this also works well. I have found that Gillette and Schick blades(2-3) ard just junk new, they all have small sharp jagged points. May try a German brand or get into Safety Razors soon.
Was it ripping the hair, or was it smooth cutting? I just bought some gillette blades on line, and they feel like they are ten years old, not cutting, but pulling and ripping. ouch!
@@NoFate247 I bought them new from Gillette, it was a great price, so that should have told me something. Got like six packs of 5 (I think) for around $32 bucks, they are crap.
@@NoFate247 less irritation with a double edge safety razor, if you have sensitive skin, buy the British made Edwin Jagger DE89, German made Merkur 34C, Canadian made Rockwell 6C or the Multi national made King C Gillette Double Edge Razor and best blades for sensitive skin are 100 Astra Superior Platinum Double Edge Razor Blades for around $10, the above razors are all brand new and are available on eBay, Amazon or just by doing a Google Search, I have very sensitive skin and double edge is better than multi blade cartridge for sensitive skin but never apply pressure when using double edge razors, you can see people using these on the following RUclips Channels which are Kevy Shaves , GeoFatBoy , Paul H films , Mad Scientist of Wet Shaving.
The guy builds us up about a new product to sharpen five blade razors then peters out! I guess it wasnt as good as he thought. Left us in the lurch! Oh well.
@@NoFate247 Thanks for the video I just ordered one...I joined the Dollar Shave club and only get about 2 shaves per razor and figured i'd give this a shot.
How long do your razor blades last?

What you should have done was shave one side of face with dull razor then sharpen it then shave the other side. That would have been the true test.
Great idea! Make that video and drop the link below
Good idea thanks.
thanks for watching and subing

WHen I sharpened them it was smooth, felt good for a 1 month old razor. Where did you get these blaades?

I have found the brand “Feather” from Japan to be the best safety razor double edge blades.
Why not just buy a double edge safety razor as 100 blades only cost $10
cariza5 I know a lot of people went that route...not sure if it as comfortable of a shave but I can't speak to it

@@cariza5 Appreciate that, I wasn't even aware they had special ones for single blades. I'll def. look into it
I have never had a blade last more than two weeks. I get like 3 or 4 uses at most out of blade. I guess I have hair that is just that course.
Do you dry your blade off before storing?
What about sharpening Gillette sensor blades? Or cheap dollar store ones?
Never tried the single blade ones but the 4 blade sensor ones I tried with success.
Would this work on a double edge razor (old school razor)?
yes, you'd just do both sides. I believe the premise of aligning the blade would be the same

No demonstration? Something missing here!
Not sure what you're referring to. I demonstrated how to sharpen it.
