Melvin Gordon gets 408 yards against a ranked Nebraska in one of the most defensive heavy conferences. Samaje Perine (Who wasn't even the best Sooner rb) get 427 yards against the worst power five team in the country in a conference that is notorious for never playing any defense....

    • @MST3Killa
      @MST3Killa 6 лет назад +7

Toss in getting 9 fewer touches for Gordon as well. Really, who doesn't think Gordon could've picked up 19 yards on 9 carries with a whole quarter left to play when he'd already run for 408? Hell, he was averaging 16 yards a touch. At even a quarter of that rate, 4 yards per rush, he still would've beaten out 427.

Sconnie native and I was living in Lincoln when this happened. Nebraska will never go anywhere if they keep having to play the Hawkeyes and the Badgers every year. This was a total beat down.

Nathan Gerry, drafted by the Eagles in the 5th round I believe he played in Washington and San Francisco too. He even has a sack on Tom Brady. Ran a 4.58 40 yard dash, but game speed is different from the 40. He had another gear, special teams player most of his career and most tenured special teams players in the league are freak athletes.

*Redrifle1986* I played against the Great Husker Johnny Rodgers. He did not catch a pass against me all game--David Humm was one of the top quarterbacks in 1972. Johnny did get outside of me on a kick-off.
Glad to see Nebraska and Wisconsin in the same league. We were beaten by 49 points. I played at Minnesota. Grew up in Madison Area, but they did not see me as potential. Life is a test of character and determination. Flash Gordon knows this well!

No disrespect to Wisconsin you railed us and had a record game. But being a diehard Husker fan I was cheering for you guys in the end because it made me embarrassed being a Nebraska fan that day. We did good the first quarter but after that what the actual SHIT happened!? All we did the last 2 quarters we were just playing grab ass and literally playing in slow motion. And Melvin Gordon kicking the shit out of Nebraska making a record game is even more embarrassing to Nebraska. Bo Pelini, What the Hell were you smoking?

His senior year the o-line wasn't as great as they traditionally have been in the past, though they looked good against Nebraska but who doesn't? With Mel being from Kenosha many Packer backers will be following, and cheering for the Chargers.

At the same time, look at the Wisconsin O-line getting penetration into the Nebraska defense and then walling off defenders in the box. Classic Wisconsin line play. Those guys must be completely juiced about blocking for Gordon, much like the Bears special teams used to be juiced about blocking for Devin Hester.

I used to think it was all the oline but after watching closer this guy has incredible acceleration and vision. Very elusive in the open field. And even more impressive is how he avoids being taken down in the backfield which is proof his line isn't doing all the work. Best college running back ive seen since Demarco Murray. As as an Alabama fan im hoping Amari Cooper will win the Heisman but if not I hope Gordon does. It would be nice to see someone besides a qb win it.

Gordon did it in 3 quarters against a Bo Pelini defense. I've only seen Perine's touchdown runs, but he wasn't touched on any of them. Gordon at least had to break a few tackles. Had the honor of watching him play against my Tigers in the opener in Houston. Thing of beauty watching him run.

Superb vid Arman. The O-line and entire offense blocking up front obviously deserve a lot of credit as well. But what sticks out the most about Melvin are 2 things: this kid's 0-60 is exceptional, and his vision/cutbacks are just plain nasty. Hard worker, humble guy, team first mentality, how can you not root for this guy? I sure hope he raises that trophy in NY, but it's Mariota's to lose. On Wisconsin!

What I love most about Gordon, is that he doesn't have a wasted movement. A lot of guys stop hard to make a cut or juke, but this guy is like butter in his movements. His vision is super elite as well. Told people 2 years ago after he ran for 200+ yards on like 6-8 carries against Nebraska, that he was going to be ridiculous going forward.

I watched this game at a Christian Husker Watch Party.
It was very similar to the 2nd ever BIG Championship in 2012. The same two teams. Very similar outcome.
I was laughing at how hyped up they were before the game. And they had a 14 point lead. Lololol. AHAHAHAHAHAGAGAH.
    17-3. Typical Huskers.
As a Michigan State Spartans fan, thank you Wisconsin Badgers. By the way the Spartans beat the Huskers that year and the year before. 2013 and 2014.
    41-28. In 2013.
Survived a huge choke in Lansing in 2014.
Husker Fuckers can be good or the best they ever been and they still won't be the same as they were in the 90s.
Welcome to the Big Ten Nebraska Huskers. 10 years later. Remember, you came to the B1G in 2011. In 2011. The first ever BIG Championship was Michigan State vs. Wisconsin.
If only the guy didn't rough the punter we would have won the game. When I saw that I was pissed and I knew it. Damn You Wisconsin. We Forgive You Badgers and we thank you for doing this to the Huskers.
*not once, not twice, not three times, not four, not five. not five, not six, not seven, not eight...*
9 Times out of 10 matchups since the Huskers joined the B1G in 2011.
Nebraska Cornhuskers. You suck. Ya Jackassss.
    Wisconsin is Nebraska's new Oklahoma.
    -Me in 2011.

He looks like a demarco Murray type back, balanced, he can juke a little & can run with power... I'm not really impressed with this performance though, he did what he was suppose to do, have you seen those holes he was running threw? He wasn't getting touched for the first 10 yards, the offensive line had a great game

OU fan checking in here. The best thing about that two week stretch for these two guys is they are both remarkably humble young guys. Drastically different styles. Gordon is a shifty and speedy back and while Perine is definitely a bruiser, he is deceptively fast for his size. Sadly, Perine was badly under-utilized in 2014. Not sure what Wisconsin fans think about MG and his role in the 2014 Badgers. Loved this video, though. That was an incredibly impressive performance.

Was it the shoes? Seriously. Makes cuts without losing speed. Cuts are so sharp that DBs are left standing and can only watch as Gordon zips by. Explosive speed. On standard run plays, looks like Josh Cribbs in the open field. Would say "best back since Adrienne Petersen" except he is better than Adrienne Petersen, whose single game NFL rushing record will be in immediate jeopardy if Gordon lands on a team with an A++ O-line. (e.g. Cleveland Browns with Alex Mack and Joe Thomas, Thomas is an ex-Badger.) Will be completely wasted as a player if the team that drafts him does NOT have a superior O-line. We all know what kind of O-line Wisconsin puts out.

Also, Perine set TWO NCAA records yesterday. 1) Most rushing yards in a single game, and 2) Only RB to rush for 200+ yards in each half of the game. He also injured several KU defenders, so the whole "his OL created holes for him" theory is bunk. They created the same types of holes that Gordon got.

Great work on this video dude. I've never seen a running back in either college or the NFL do something like this. Especially in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. MG3 is special.

I turned on this game about a minute before the record-setting run, not knowing what was happening. When I figured it out I was absolutely amazed.

Dear Wisky fans, please stop with the "Gordon did it in only 3 quarters" nonsense. Less carries? Sure, but Perine actually did it in under 3 quarters. He had 2 carries in the 4th and he was NOT the starting RB. He didn't come in until 5 minutes into the game. To top it off, Perine is a TRUE freshman who did this in pouring rain, vs a defense who has similar numbers to Nebraska. When Nebraska played Minnesota they got beat. When TCU, who nearly lost to Kansas last week, played Minnesota, TCU destroyed them. Making it out as if Kansas is inferior to Nebraska based on rankings is an absolute joke. Big 12 defenses face fast paced offenses, so their stats are inflated on the defensive side.
Both were great games, but Wisky fans need to face the fact that Perine had an even better game. Period.

Why do you type the word "period" instead of just ending your sentence with a period and leaving it at that?

In the rain? What does that have to do with anything? Gordon did it in the snow, on 9 less carries. Minnesota had 5 turnovers vs TCU 9 times out of 10 that game would be decided by a touchdown or less. Here's to hoping Wisconsin plays Chokelahoma in a bowl. Perine has the record, both had great games, Gordon is the better back. I hope I get to find out who the better team is.

Rain and snow would be a hindrance for the players on defence who are trying to stop him when he changes direction.

. . . and his coach (Stoops) put him back into the game to get the record. Gordon got his naturally. That said, I love Perine. He's Ron Dayne II.

As a husker that was painful to watch but Gordon was a man possessed. Made everything look easy. The oline was blocking on both levels and gordon showed power, balance and speed. Early in the season Gurly was the unanimous first back taken but I bet a lot of GM's just scrapped that thought last saturday. Ill be glad to see him graduate! GBR

Even though Melvin's record was broken only a week later, Melvin still hold one HUGE record. Most rushing yards by a runningback in 3 quarters. I also love Joe Thomas's quote on ESPN Cleveland a couple days after Perine broke the record and said that he could have gotten 200 yards on that defense.

It's interesting how none of the famous RBs really panned out in the nfl. Ball has potential but is injured all the time. Hopefully Gordon will be a force to reckon with in San Diego. They have a stable of backs there that help each other have fresh legs.
