Sorry not to tell about price/perfromance ratios to keep it short, but thank you for your work and not making it 5 hours long video. Thank your for the mixed resolutions and setting allowing us to compare and decide what resolution to use them the 15:04 to 20:34 part is very good infromative summary... just missing some DLAA/NAtive AA + FG, and some RT path etc. but very nice the real 4060 ti 12GB vs the fastest RX 7750XT vs the RX "I'm not exactly a RX 7800XT neither a 7900Xt, maybe an RX 7900, not sure why I'm competing with 4070/4080/4060ti called chip". But you showed they have actual value on them, no doubt. And price is definitely lower than other RX 7000 and RTX 40 products, ratios? Not today... and stock perf/W vs optimal perf/W is even longer to answer... 4K capable all of them, crazy capable at 1440p with over native image quality at your finger tips...not for all budgets still...
The 4070-S had a great argument prior to the 7900 GRE being unlocked. But after the latest update, the GRE is the optimal choice hands down. The numbers and prices speak for themselves.
Don't buy the 7800xt because for $50 more the 7900gre is way better. Don't buy the 4070s because even tho it has better RT and Nvidia nvenc, it is still $50 more expensive and slower in raster. Conclusion buy only the 7900gre
I just got the RX 7900 GRE Pure OC and I'm so happy with it. With the new driver and the potential to overclock the memory it's such a beast of a card for the price. And my daughters are happy they got dad's old RTX 2070 super.
what settings are you using on your gre? i have the same exact card. i went by his overclocking video for the GRE. im not sure if this video was before or after the last video. thanks
Ifyou care about power consumption, get Nvidia. You can just draw the slider on MSI Afterburner to 50%, and you'll still get like 80% of the performance. Whereas with AMD you'll spend far more time tweaking it and get inferior results. 7900GRE is already VERY power restricted by default. It has similar amount of hardware to RTX4080 (but worse memory).
With my RX 7900 GRE from Adrenaline I lowered the voltage from 1050 to 1010 Mv, I OCed the memory at 2500 Mhz and OC the GPU at 2780 Mhz and it doesn't go over 255 W. With Adrenaline you can do wonders. Greater performance, lower consumption.
Hello could you do a video with the gre power limited to the same level as the 4070s? I'm curious what the fps will look like with same wattage. Electricity is absurd in many places so I'm just curious
@@ignTambirHasan it shouldnt change much, agressive undervolting on rdna 3 can halve power consumptipn while only reducing performance by 15 / 25 per cent!
reducing performance by "only" 15-25% 🤣🤣🤣🤣 u dunno how to undervolt, do you? or are the rdna 3 that bad. 4070 super draws 160-170w undervolted, while not losing any performance(u can even gain slight OC with that undervolt, depending on the silicon)
@@gooddrugs649 power consumption isnt linear. Check how laptop gpus perform compared to their desktop variants ( and I mean dedicated gpus not integrated ones ) while consuming a fraction of the energy.
@@manueldelbusto725 they perform well, but the performance loss is pretty noticeable vs dGPU's, a loss of 25% is big enough that by that point just buy the gpu below it and save the hassle of undervolting and powerlimiting.
Me too I can’t decide I got the 7700x already for the build and my son will be playing Fortnite on it and I’ll play some Minecraft and GTA. Not sure which one would be better.
@@B_Machine I went with the 7900gre. I got an asrock steel legend 670e and a matching steel legend 7900gre. Its perfect. Crazy fps. I haven’t even tried Minecraft shaders yet but I’m sure it’ll do well.
I've been expecting this!. Man, you're awesome. All the other channel make reviews with this cards but with monters like the 7800 X3D or de 14900k. You're the only one that make videos with a high end cpu, but, you know, not "that" high end, I'm sure you get it. And you're the only one that includes SAM and Overclocked results. Truly a premium youtube channel!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great video. I'm still tinkering on my 7900 GRE. Pretty happy with where I have it now, nice and stable, but I might try some of the setting you got to work.
perfect timing brother, I've watched your channel since you did ryzen 5 2600 and 480 8gb benchmarks. And now you come with my next upgrade. my love for you is great, keep up the good work!
I sold my gigabyte rtx 3070 aorus master for 350$ and bought myself a brand new gigabyte rx 7800xt for 620$. Not too bad, considering the rx 7700xt price (550$). Also I didn't go with 7900GRE because from what I've seen their lowest price is about 840$, definitely not worth the extra money. I'm more than happy with rx 7800xt's performance, it runs practically every game I have on ultra settings at 1440p (some may need FSR, like AW2, but it's an exception). My settings are: -10 on the Power limit (the card always stays at 260W), 1070mv on the core, 2514mhz with fast timings on the VRAM (I see solid 2501mhz in msi afterburner), core frequencies are 2600/2700mhz (min/max). Works like a charm, max temps are 63 degrees on the core, hot spot 86, memory junction at about 80 degrees.
Disable zero tpm and do fan speed curve 40 degreest 40 fan speed @50 degrees 65 fan speed 60 i do 70fan speed 75 fan speed 80 I run in all games i play 40-50 gpu temp in games
@@Biggie971yeah, that's why I left my fan curve on default. I can live with 63 degrees on the core, and having a quiet card is much more important for me.
Man, if the 4070 Super was $500-$550, it would be the defacto best buy of this generation. It's actually "super" impressive the performance it has with such a cut down die/bus width and much lower power consumption.
man the 4070 Super is an awesome card. Just got one for 450 USD, and man. worth every dollar. Gotta jump on deals when you see them. (btw followed your channel when i had my AMD cards, and i recommend your channel to all my friends who have AMD GPUs. Keep up the great work)
nah, it an asus dual, but what's wrong with gigabyte cards? i've had them in the past and never had issues with them, along with their motherboards.@@ofon2000
It's always great to watch your comparison videos! I myself will be going with the RX 7800 XT since it fulfills my needs for the foreseeable future and I wouldn't like to stretch my budget even more than I already did (I was debating between the RX 7700 XT at $399 or the RX 7800 XT at $499 before).
Got my 7800xt on sale for $519 plus i had $100 in gift cards from Xmas. I didnt want to replace my 750W PSU for the GRE. I replaced my 5700xt but kept it to build my daughter a gaming PC around that card. Even though I'm perfectly satisfied with the 7800xt when i see my 5700xt sitting in its box...i feel sad. That card was (is) GREAT. It aged so well. Great content btw...
I don't think you'd of needed to upgrade your PSU for a 7900 GRE, even with an OC the card doesnt exceed a 7900XT's power draw (which recommends a 750W)
awesome video thanks for all the hard work you do testing this stuff for us. would also love to see a video about overclocking the 4070 super like you did with the 4060.
I got a new 7800 XT hellhound model for £460! Was looking for the equivalent 7900 gre but it was nearly £100 more expensive. Very happy with this card, runs a lot better and 40°C cooler than my previous gtx 1080.
I'm fine with my ASUS TUF RX 7800 XT performance for the 1440p/1080p games that I play. I think a lot of people just get lost in the benchmarking e-sport side of things & lose perspective regarding exactly how much GPU you actually need at any given resolution for a quality gaming experience.
I got that exact same card, just put this tune for Better performance: Base clock - Min 500Mhz/Max 2980Mhz Vram Clock - 2614Mhz Voltage - 1080mv Power limit - 15% Fan Speed - 70% or 80% Thank me later.
All you have to do is overclock it if you need any extra performance and you have the same fps as a stock 4070 super that costs like a lot more in my country. I don't think you need to even overclock it in most situations
Your channel has exactly the type of comparisons I was looking for. Thank you so much. I recently purchased a discounted open-box 4070 S (plus the free Wukong game promotion) because I really enjoy RT and I am going to be doing a lot of gaming in the next few months (sold my 2080 Ti to a friend). However, I also plan on upgrading again as soon as the 5080 is available. If I was planning on keeping my upgrade for longer than 5-6 months I would have gone with the 7900 GRE for sure. This 12 GB on the 4070 -4070 S is some next level bs, but since I found my 4070 S discounted and it included a free game I just went for it. Although, I'm getting tempted to return it and buy the 7900XT for $650 instead...
Gracias por esta comparación, me encantan tus videos, así como la energía y la alegría que siempre contagias con tu buen humor. Saludos desde México 🇲🇽
Its kinda funny seeing the GRE being talkd about again. When it came out all I would see was "weird chinese card" lol. Nice to see more options now, might help pricing, hopefully.
Great video, as always. I wonder how much bigger can get those differences at 1080 and 1440 if you used the 7800x3d... BTW, why are you still on the 7700x?
Awesome video man, had gotten my 4070 super a bit ago from a 7600 (I upgraded to 1440p) and I love it! 12GBs feels like it'll be just fine until the next generation of consoles come and see how it handles there. Best advice from the video is that your budget is king when it comes to buying these cards, all are amazing for the price and all have their strengths/weaknesses. Keep up the great content man
Thanks! I bougth a 7900 GRE Pulse after watch your videos. Especially MSFS 2020 benchmarks helps a lot when make this decision. I needed a graphic card 4K sim gaming and this one get job done perfectly with 7800x3d.
I think you can see how the 12GB is going to start being a problem in 4K, RT High, FG On. That's really something to consider over the next year or so.
Great video, as always! Just upgraded my GPU with the 7900 GRE but I feel my B450 AM4 board along with my Ryzen 5 5600x (and DDR4 ram) might be holding it back. Do you think it's worth upgrading to a B7800X3D/B650/6000 CL30 trio? Thanks a lot!
I like your speakers in the background! I have some amazing speakers now, cheap for what they are but what they are is some pretty big speakers... Yamaha NS-777 tower speakers. I didn't like them on their own though so put my bookshelf speakers and a subwoofer with it.
what is the better choice regarding the GPU's idle consumption if the PC runs a lot each day only for office work or netflix, youtube etc...? (1440p / wqhd) thx :)
Thanks for including the Ray Tracing comparison. I'm aware of the performance drop for Ray Tracing but I'm simply not going to do research and price compare on video cards if I was planning on playing without Ray Tracing. It's been years, we're past the point of considering Ray Tracing a gimmick. I'm planning on buying a new handheld PC with Oculink and buying one of these AMD cards to use with an external dock. The Phax uses an RTX 4090 connected over oculink but I can't afford to buy another 4090, that would be financially irresponsible. I sold one of my PC's recently a 3080 equipped PC and I want a portable replacement.
I like how you Put Those Vram Frequencies Note, it gave us Heads Up what Problem Could happend when we increase the frequencies without Increase the core voltage limit.... Safe lot of trouble Thankyou My Brother
Hi i can I have two choices i can build a pc with 12400F + 7700XT or 7600X + 6750XT For the same price so which one i should prefer GPU or CPU I will be using for gaming and live streaming mainly and some lil bit mining
Finally! Was waiting for this from you. I've been seeing so many people saying they could reach 2500mhz at insane undervolts of 950mv. However, I know for a fact that they're OC's are not stable. I might've missed it but don't think you mentioned anything about what you set the core to?
My conclusion: I don't really care about RT but more about raw power and future proof gaming. I just got the Sappire RX 7900 GRE Pure and with the latest driver which let you overclock the memory, this card is a beast for it's price. Got my clockspeed @ 2.780 and memory @ 2585. It's been a long long time since I had an AMD gpu but I don't regret buying this beast of a card. Yeah sure the Nvidia cards have better RT but in my case only in Cyberpunk. Apart from that this card rocks all my games like a wild animal. Dunno about others who own this card but I dare to say this is by far the best buy for 550 euro's. You can't go wrong with this card for the price imo. Overclock this beast and witness it's raw power!!!
Hi mate, I just bought a Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT and just saw the Sapphire Nitro+ 7900GRE is avaliable to preorder for £60 more, do you think its worth the value to future proof my system? I don't think the 7900GRE would last another year compared to the 7800XT. Should I just sell the 7800 when the next few generations of GPUs come about? Thank you 👍
11:52 your pronounciation is extremely good, im a french guy who's watching you (and helped me alot to fix my 6900xt 1year ago) and have to say that your pronounciation of this words is really good !
Thanks for this video! I have same gpu 7900 gre nitro. During the video you mentioned that it is possible to install a vbios from different model. Do you have any tutorial link regarding bios flash for 7000 series card?
@@AncientGameplays I just noticed that Sapphire has 2 SKU numbers for the nitro+ 11325-02 and 11325-05 do you know the differences? I have the 11325-02 and I'm wondering why they released 2 different SKUs
I know this might be out of the question but do you think the amd cards have at least decent performance on machine learning software? I have the 7900xtx like amd advertised it would be the card for ai workload and gaming. But other parts still haven't arrived. What do you think?
lol you got scammed by AMD then, literally no support for Pytorch on Radeon gpus yet in Windows so idk why you even think about machine learning using Radeon gpus
The 7800GRE seems to be a fantastic card. Here in Australia the cheapest 4070 Super I can find is about $980, while the 7900GRE is about $870. Seems like a no brainer, unless you really need Nvidia's features.
Hey folks. How is it? Please, some experienced 27" monitor owners, I am reaching out to you: is 4k a real deal visual fidelity wise for this width? I am planning to sell my laptop and build a PC with next gen CPU GPU hitting the market. And I am sort of ok on money, but I hate the feeling of being ripped off for nothing. So I am really looking towards 1440p mini led monitor. Again: which is the real deal for 27" 1440p or 4k? Thanks
what ppl also shouldnt forget - Daniel Owen does a good job at explaining that in his benchmarks, is that we also have to compare real world usage. That means that if you play at 1440p ultra settings, especially with RT (if it looks good in that game), and really especially when playing at 4k max settings. even if you play without RT at 1440p or 4k, it will happen that you are below 60 FPS, often times a lot below that, or you are someone who just wants a higher FPS experience, in those cases you will use upscaling. And at that point, i know for a fact that i personally would ALWAYS be mad that i haver to use the inferior (sometimes really heavily inferior) upscaling method that AMD users have to use. On Nvidia i can literally choose the best method, which is DLSS in 99% of cases, but if FSR looks better in a game for some reason, i can use FSR instead of DLSS. I dont have that freedom with an AMD GPU. i would guess most Nvidia users activate DLSS when its available, surely if they play at 1440p and especially at 4k. This is such a big factor to me that i just wont buy an AMD GPU, until i dont miss out on the DLSS quality one bit. i also want to play with RT if i pay $600+ for a 2024 GPU, i want to use Ray Reconstruction, i want to use the best available FG technology in specific games and i dont want to "save" money to pay that "saved" money in extra electricity cots over the next few years due to often times 50%+ higher power usage of AMD GPUs (in the summer i will be especially happy to not have a furnace in my PC). if we talk CPUs, now, thats a completely different beast. i absolutely love what AMD does in terms of CPUs, and every gamer who builds a new PC with cards in the $600+ price range but then doesnt buy a x3D CPU, is making a mistake imo. i understand temporarily buying a 7600 bc of money constraints, with the goal to upgrade to a 7800x3D or 8800x3D eventually. For gamers there is virtually zero reason to not go with an AMD CPU. in terms of GPUs tho, i know that i wouldnt be happy with an AMD GPU bc i would always think to myself, that i should have paid those $100, $200 or whatever more to buy a green one. most ppl have a GPU for a few years, the extra cost is paid once and then you have the GPU. Whats also playing a role, what nobody is saying in their videos, is that the resell value of Nvidia GPUs is like WAY higher than AMD GPUs, you find buyer way easier, way less hassle. But thats just my opinion. at the end everyone should buy what makes them happy. i dont support Nvidias price structure, but imo they just make the best GPUs, thats why they can charge more.
@@AncientGameplays awesome, still watching the video. also my statement was more in general bc i see ppl (as in viewers, commenters online) forgetting that part all the time. you talk about upscaling often, thats great! what i also noticed in benchmarks from various ppl, in various games, is that usually i see Nvidia having a lot less discrepancy between average FPS and 1%/0.1% lows aka having more consistent frametimes and therefor a more consistent experience. except in games like COD Modern Warfare i.e., where AMD completely destroys Nvidia for some reason. (i guess explanation probably lies in the engine there)
Honestly been thinking of a GPU upgrade the 4070s class, Was leaning over torwards nvidia but if the new Fsr3.1 coming is any good might just go for that
Wow, not often I'm this early. I'm predicting the 7800XT falls behind both. The 7900GRE wins in raster and the 4070 super wins in ray tracing. TBH this is my dilemma atm. I want to upgrade, and the GRE and the 4070 super are in my crosshairs. But I'm thinking the only game I play i'd prefer the super over the GRE is cyberpunk. But man it would look GOOD haha. But then DLSS is still better than FSR 3. It's an interesting comparison. I don't have time to watch just now, but I'm going to when I get home. Just wanted to chuck my predictions in =) Thank you for comparing cards like this, Fabio. I wonder if this will actually make my mind up for me.
It’s spot on 7800XT and 7900GRE are close ( assuming you’re gonna play 1440p and 4k mostly ) with the GRE being slightly better , 4070 S is much better in RT and falls almost on par with 7800XT in raw raster , slightly faster on some titles TLDR - 4070S for RT & VR and 7800XT or 7900GRE for raw raster performance and future proofing ( more VRAM ) , choose the card based on local pricing - pick GRE if it’s less than 10% more expensive than the XT vice versa
Go with the gre. More vram. You will need it. I have a 4070 super but its already maxed out in 1440p… also fsr not that bad as ppl says and will get better. Dlss is not really improving only got the framegen what amd have now as well.
The power consumption sold me on the 4070 super . Even though the card is $50 more I’d actually save money in my case cause I can keep my current PSU power box instead of having to upgrade and spend almost $100 plus tax along with the gpu lol
Hi Fabio! Off topic! My 7900XT I went through two RMAs the first last for a year and the second only lasted a month. Should I get a refund and get a NVIDIA GPU not blaming AMD but its too coincidental. I.can share with you in private about the RMA issue and what the issue is. I can't stop watching your videos!
@@AncientGameplays I bought 2 New 1000 watt from Corsair HX1000i. One got RMA'd because the fan in the PSU started vibrating the second works fine. I plugged in a GTX1070 and works fine. I love AMD the colors pop and there's is more sharpness than NVIDIA and I have the 7900XT Nitro + beautiful GPU. I got a second Motherboard too. New ram too and CPU. Issue persisted. Weird right. I'll keep you posted once I get a 3RD GPU from RMA.
🔥🔥🔥🔥Great content as usual, I was wondering if you would be interested in investigating Sam/resizable bar , cause I cannot get it to work properly as in it is on but poor performance massive fps dips and stuttering iv been trying to solve this for some time and so have a few other lads I know , but no matter bios / settings / file configs and hardware changes just carnt get it running smoothly “as it should” with all different PCs and configurations on WARZONE , it would seem it’s a big issue no one can solve … and you would be a legend if you could solve it … or look into it 👍
Fabinhoooo. Acabei de comprar uma 7800 XT. Estou super entusiasmado para colocar os teus ensinamentos de UV em prática porque a minha fonte é de apenas 550W. Deseja-me sorte 🤞
Bro quick question? Can you make videos testing amd cards on blender, editing and other 3D Work? That would be helpful for us yk to see how far AMD has come on productivity work 😅
Hey think you can make a video about the benefits of each driver and manager? Im talking about Adrenalin vs Nvidia Geforce (not sure what they use anymore tbh) and compare what they both have and what each one has that the other does not. Im planning ob buying either a Zotac RTX4060 or Asus RX7600, and since they seem to perform similarly i want to see if one has better options in the driver manager section. (Price difference is like 10 dollars or so)
I did buy a XFX 319 7800XT and do like it i have not used anything close to 16 GB of VRAM yet but i am surprised to see how cool it stay's never gets above 63c and stay's around 58 to 60 c it also overclocks nice i got it about 2680 mhz at 1050Mv's and stable playing the last of us for 4 hours no crashes i am impressed i paid 501.99 plus tax but well worth it i have another computer with a 4070 ti in it and the other has a 6600XT in it by the way i am impressed with FSR 3 turned my RX 6600 into a 1440p gaming computer nice drivers also like the AMD 24.1.3 driver very nice and stable.
I have the same 7800xt. I set the core to 3000 and VRAM to 2560. It's been running stable at 970mV, with actual core freq topping out around 2700 on the +15% power limit. One thing I don't like about Adrenaline is it focuses on package temps, not hot spot. My package temps runs about the same as yours, but the hot spot is high 70's to low 80's at my settings (though not high enough to thermal throttle).
I’m pairing the 7900 GRE with a Ryzen 7 5700X3D. Should I use one of the presets available in Radeon Adrenaline? Should leave it on default, or should I press on Undervolt GPU, Overclock GPU or Overclock VRAM?
Whenever I see one GPU winning in 1 game and the other GPU in other games, I think is a tie lmao in raster. It will come down to whats the price and if you care about DLSS and Ray Tracing.
Fabio, would it not be an idea to run all your tests you do with your cards not only at stock speeds, but stock with ReBAR enabled? Your tests are almost always stock, OC and OC+ ReBAR. I can say 95% of people if not more will use stock + ReBAR as most motherboards (new ones) have it enabled by default the ReBAR function. I ask this because in a lot of test you do it looks like Nvidia is performing a lot better on the stock settings compared to AMD in most the tittles you have. So i am wondering how the gap would close of still be as big if it is stock with ReBAR on. That would be really helpful in your benchmarks i believe!
@@AncientGameplays That is great! I like to see ofc the overclock results as you already have, but seeing everything at stock with ReBAR on would be a nice bonus. Eventhough i also did test my GPU's to about the limit except more Vcore wich i don't do i always leave it at stock after because a fast GPU like my 4080 Super does not need an overclock although very capable of it!
I can't choose between these cards. My son often plays and streams youtube with an old laptop. I'm thinking about a 7500f or 7600x cpu. But I don't know which card is more suitable for streaming. He still plays Fortnite, roblox, rust, minecraft, Team Fortress 2. With the new computer, he plans to add to his gameplay and streaming CS and GTA. Would a 7800xt be enough or is it better to add about 100€ and buy a 4070 super for about 610€? Maybe someone can advise from experience? A big thank you!!!
the 7800XT would be more than enough especially since he's using an old laptop. IF you don't know how to setup your PC to the minimum, then get the 4070 Super as NVIDIA cards are more "fool proof" than the AMD ones, but as stated the 4070 Super is faster and consumes less power AND you have more features
@@AncientGameplays Yes, you probably rigth. 7800xt will be enough, but +100€ for 4070s will be more cost efficient for long term run on electricity bills 🙂. Thankyou 🫡
Been enjoying my 7900 xt. So far, I've yet to experience any insane game breaking driver issues. First real AMD card for me. Only problem, is within the adrenalin software. It was a fresh, clean windows install, with auto install off. Installed fresh drivers everything is good. BUT. Some options in the menus do nothing. Like if i enable Vsync always on globally, a game will still tear like crazy and be at over 150+fps lol. Aside from that, it's been a very nice experience. 1% lows are better than my friends 3090 ti :) it's a monster in forbidden west.
Why? Apart from 1080P and some specific titles, the bottleneck is almost none. I do have the 7800x3d and it will be the next gpu benchmarking to the gpus
@AncientGameplays most of the benchmarkers are using 7800X3D as the standard cpu for testing. Its odd to see lower fps with these gpu's, than i realized u have 7700X and not the 7800X3D.
2 fans are enough for a 180watts (gaming) RTX 4070 S. Considering that, you can get one in Europe for 599€ incl. 19% tax. I really like the 7900GRE and i think its the better choice compared to the 7800xt
Of course something better comes out after a month later when I bought my 7800XT. And the worst part is my Hellhound 7800XT is priced the same as an XFX 7900 GRE in my country.
@@AncientGameplays Thank you for the reply. I needed the reassurance. A question: How do the Sapphire 7900GRE variants compare to the Hellhound 7800XT?
could you please do a in depth video of ryzen 7 cpu overclocking? im very interested in a static clock speed like you have on your 7700x. i have the feeling that my clock speeds are all over the place while gaming and it can effect the fps quite a bit.
I wouldn't, you'll likely take a loss selling the 7800xt then spend an extra like 10% for the gre. To me, it's not worth the 10-12% performance gain. I have a 7800xt and I'm happy with it, but if I wasn't content, I'd maybe think about going for atleast a non gre 7900xt. Which if I recall, was around 20% increase from the 7800xt. More money, but I feel like 20% would be much more noticeable difference. Just my opinion though. Though if I was in the market now, without my existing 7800xt, I'd go with the gre. Just wouldn't personally go through the trouble to upgrade to something so close in performance.
I agree with you that it's hard to pick between this two cards as they both have strong sides. I picked 7900GRE in reference edition over 4070 super because of 3 reasons : -big difference in price [ about 100usd ] -drivers quality and integration for linux is waay better on amd -I don't really wanted that new 12Vhpwr conector Only time will tell if i choosen correctly , last time i went with amd and RX470 i was very satisfied .
I didnt know about the amdvflash bios, i have a 7800xt hellhound, would it be interesting to switch the bios with a red devil to squeeze a little bit of performance ?
@@AncientGameplays Thank you so much for your answer. So it means the powerlimit is higher on a red devil version ? but it would be ok on the hellhound even though there is less vrm or less good, I am not sure about the red devil specs

Let me know what you think about these 3 GPUs and their Price/performance ratios!
The numbers and prices speak for themselves.
is the 7900 gre good for content creation?
7900GRE is power limited by a lot
Don't buy the 7800xt because for $50 more the 7900gre is way better.
Don't buy the 4070s because even tho it has better RT and Nvidia nvenc, it is still $50 more expensive and slower in raster.
Conclusion buy only the 7900gre
I just got the RX 7900 GRE Pure OC and I'm so happy with it. With the new driver and the potential to overclock the memory it's such a beast of a card for the price. And my daughters are happy they got dad's old RTX 2070 super.
what settings are you using on your gre? i have the same exact card. i went by his overclocking video for the GRE. im not sure if this video was before or after the last video. thanks
That all works really well. Your story makes me think I should keep my 4070S for my son and get a 7900XTX for myself.
@@todorsamardzhiev144power consumption is not that important in modern day for available cards. It’s not like they’re drawing 1k+ watts
So glad i bought the GRE, even better they unlocked the OC potential

The Phax uses an RTX 4090 connected over oculink but I can't afford to buy another 4090, that would be financially irresponsible. what ppl also shouldnt forget - Daniel Owen does a good job at explaining that in his benchmarks, is that we also have to compare real world usage.
Upscaling is talked about in the final thoughts
Just wanted to chuck my predictions in =)
Thank you for comparing cards like this, Fabio. I wonder if this will actually make my mind up for me.
It’s spot on
7800XT and 7900GRE are close ( assuming you’re gonna play 1440p and 4k mostly ) with the GRE being slightly better , 4070 S is much better in RT and falls almost on par with 7800XT in raw raster , slightly faster on some titles
TLDR - 4070S for RT & VR and 7800XT or 7900GRE for raw raster performance and future proofing ( more VRAM ) , choose the card based on local pricing - pick GRE if it’s less than 10% more expensive than the XT vice versa
Go with the gre. More vram. You will need it. I have a 4070 super but its already maxed out in 1440p… also fsr not that bad as ppl says and will get better. Dlss is not really improving only got the framegen what amd have now as well.

Update nvm I changed my mind and ordered just the 7900 gre instead lol. If my psu blows up then fuck it … it was worth it 🫡 🥴
You can always undervolt...@@bigjon8744
Hi Fabio! Off topic! My 7900XT I went through two RMAs the first last for a year and the second only lasted a month. Should I get a refund and get a NVIDIA GPU not blaming AMD but its too coincidental. I.can share with you in private about the RMA issue and what the issue is. I can't stop watching your videos!
Something is really off there, sure you don't need a new psu? But yeah, you can try the 4080 super
Força nisso 💪
Bro quick question?
Can you make videos
testing amd cards on blender, editing and other 3D Work? That would be helpful for us yk to see how far AMD has come on productivity work 😅
Next retests in a couple of months will include those as well
@@AncientGameplays Thanks bro 😁
Please do a compassion between 7900 GRE and 4070 super on productivity I wanna know how big is the gap
@@creativeuzumaki5256 i will do when I retest everything hehe
@@AncientGameplays Alright bro I will be waiting 👌🏻
Hey think you can make a video about the benefits of each driver and manager?
Im talking about Adrenalin vs Nvidia Geforce (not sure what they use anymore tbh) and compare what they both have and what each one has that the other does not.
Im planning ob buying either a Zotac RTX4060 or Asus RX7600, and since they seem to perform similarly i want to see if one has better options in the driver manager section.
(Price difference is like 10 dollars or so)
Great vidéo
If you're going to OC do it manually, always
@@AncientGameplaysproblem is I don’t know how. Where do I start?
As of today, which one to buy ? Both are 600€,I need it for 2k and sometimes for 4k gaming
Well, you have what you need in this video :D
@@AncientGameplays but it's so difficult to decide :(
Whenever I see one GPU winning in 1 game and the other GPU in other games, I think is a tie lmao in raster.
It will come down to whats the price and if you care about DLSS and Ray Tracing.
Fsr 3.1 will be a game changer there if it comes to be as good as it seems
Yes, the next retests (when Ryzen 8000 come out) will be with SAM enabled by default, and will have Stock and OC
Like if i enable Vsync always on globally, a game will still tear like crazy
and be at over 150+fps lol.
Aside from that, it's been a very nice experience. 1% lows are better than my friends 3090 ti :) it's a monster in forbidden west.
Rtx 30 cards are bad at forbidden west for some reason
Why would you use vsync always on anyways? Use freesync or rivertuner
I also own a GRE and hand similar results regarding VRAM speed.
2460 fast timing is equal to 2600 standard timing in benchmarks
i've found the RTX 4070 super for 20$ less than the RX 7800 XT , should i go with the RTX 4070 super ?
Definitely, just dont get a crappy model
@@AncientGameplays its an asus duo
model
man I really like the 7900GRE, it's excellent value with 16GB VRAM and performance well vs. the 4070S. But the W use for video playback is insane!
Nah, it isn't. Mine uses 35w to play 4k on youtube...
Do u have the opportunity to change that 7700X to 7800X3D or 7900X?
My 7900GRE had memory samsung , so she dont take more of 2316 with fast timing, better if i disable fast timing for up memory like 2400 2500 ?
Merci pour vos test de qualité bien supérieurs a la moyenne quand ont est passionné de hardware c'est appréciable
De rien mon ami
Selling the ol 3070 and snagging a 7900 GRE here soon. Going back to AMD since the 5700xt. And as always I’m going for the red devil
2 fans are enough for a 180watts (gaming) RTX 4070 S. Considering that, you can get one in Europe for 599€ incl. 19% tax.
I really like the 7900GRE and i think its the better choice compared to the 7800xt
A lot of 7900gre are the same price or cheaper than the 7800xt
Depends on the country
@@AncientGameplays I meant in the uk
Of course something better comes out after a month later when I bought my 7800XT. And the worst part is my Hellhound 7800XT is priced the same as an XFX 7900 GRE in my country.
Xfx is not that great. Just keep an denjoy your card
@@AncientGameplays Thank you for the reply. I needed the reassurance. A question: How do the Sapphire 7900GRE variants compare to the Hellhound 7800XT?
Im coming for the GRE. 😎👍🏻
But ill wait some months more, i guess its price will fall down a little.
could you please do a in depth video of ryzen 7 cpu overclocking? im very interested in a static clock speed like you have on your 7700x. i have the feeling that my clock speeds are all over the place while gaming and it can effect the fps quite a bit.
I got a 7800xt but idk if its worth upgrading to a 7900GRE and then selling the 7800xt.
Naaaah if you wanna do that rather wait for 8000 series or even 5000.
As seen, not at all. Get a 7900xtx minumum. I would wait for the 8000 series though
@@AncientGameplays okay, thank you for the advice, other commentators seem to say the same too, I'll wait for 8000 series then👍

I agree with you that it's hard to pick between this two cards as they both have strong sides.
I picked 7900GRE in reference edition over 4070 super because of 3 reasons :
-big difference in price [ about 100usd ]
-drivers quality and integration for linux is waay better on amd
-I don't really wanted that new 12Vhpwr conector
Only time will tell if i choosen correctly , last time i went with amd and RX470 i was very satisfied .
I didnt know about the amdvflash bios, i have a 7800xt hellhound, would it be interesting to switch the bios with a red devil to squeeze a little bit of performance ?
in your case your power limit is already high, so you're fine I guess
@@AncientGameplays Thank you so much for your answer. So it means the powerlimit is higher on a red devil version ? but it would be ok on the hellhound even though there is less vrm or less good, I am not sure about the red devil specs
possibly, you need to check the BIOS and see@@skyryudo311
@@AncientGameplays thanks so after checking the bios difference from tech power up, the only différence it says is Power limit PPT and some Fan speed: Power Limit:
HELLHOUND: 228 W
RED DEVIL: 236 W (+8 W)
I'm a bit confuse i thought power limit was in the 300 W with 15% uplift. Is PPT the minimum power the card can receive with an undervolt ???
