I remember when Godzilla unleashed first came out, I was freaking hyped, the combat and graphics looked awesome, had to get it for Christmas. When that time of year came around and I got it on ps2 I was like bruh 💀 this is nothing like what I saw and realized that the Wii version was vastly different from the ps2 version. Kinda wished they advertised that better back then. Though eventually I got a Wii and got the game and had the time of my life, one of the best gaming years of my childhood.
The reason SpaceG wasn't in GKD (the japanese Godzilla fighting game) was because he didn't even exist yet. The movie came out around 1993, the same year as Godzilla VS MechaGodzilla 2. Biollante was probably added for character variety.
It's so funny how Godzilla turned into a fighting game when he's suppose to be a nuclear war allegory
the nuke went from one of the most real depressing and devastating scenes in media in cod 4 to the 360 doritos mountain dew yy trickshotter who fucked ur moms play thing

Just go watch any of the classic Godzilla movies man, the allegory kind of died pretty quickly. It's just big monsters fighting after about 1963 all the way up until basically 2016 with shin Godzilla.

Godzilla: Save the Earth is such a banger. I hope that one of these days, we get a re-release for Steam or something. Although now that Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 is coming out, maybe we can get something like Godzilla: Save the Earth 2. Expanded roster, maybe some integration from the Monsterverse, who knows. Whatever happens, I'm on board lol
getting a new game in the style of those with the legendary monsters and King Kong would be the coolest thing
Excellent video! I love Godzilla so much. Godzilla Kaiju Daikessen is one of my fav Godzilla games, it kicks so much ass. There's also tournaments for the game which I didn't even know about til recently. I'd recommend looking them up :)
The gamecube one is the only one I've ever played and I loved it so much as a kid I played it for hours and hours against my brother
Save the Earth and Destroy All Monsters Melee were my two favorites, in that order. I couldn't remember why I didn't like Unleashed as much, since its been years since I played these games (not that I disliked it to be clear), but I remembered StE being my favorite anyway. I used to main Mothra lol. I should look into playing again, through emulation or better yet through my modded ps2.
I dunno why they couldn't get Godzilla's character model design right in those games when they did a much better job on the other monsters.
Finally, modders fixing that mistake with the STEM mod
Unleashed PS2 version was the one that got a lot of negative reaction because it was basically a lazy refurbished version of Save the Earth.
The Wii version was better but you still had to deal with the Wii.
And since the Wii wasn't really that much different from the PS2, there was no excuse for the PS2 version being that poverty

Save the earth was my childhood, my siblings and I would play for hours seeing who was the best with destroyah
I was a kid and I had Godzilla unleashed on Wii and I loved it as a kid, I got really good with the melee system and it's actually pretty fun once you know how the motion controls work, the problem I always had was I thought the breath weapons were really understated they just didn't do nearly enough damage and were a little bit tricky to aim.

Recently ive been playing the super famicom Daiju game, man is it JUST EPIC! The best part i have retroarch on my phone and its even more enjoyable, like i can't play an emulator on a pc to be honest i need to play it on phone. Ive tried connecting a controller like how some people do it but i just cant, but yeah i highly suggest you play that game (Ive also been playing allot of snes and super famicom games recently on retroarch)
By the way the game is just, its one of those game no matter how many times you play it, its just so addicting and im not a godzilla expert but i still love this game to be honest and i love godzilla, not as much as others im more of a medieval fantasy addict but still.
The GBA domination game should have been like a sidescrolling action adventure. I had it as a kid and it felt more... limited than i had hoped.
7. That's a beat'em up. Like Final Fight, Streets of Rage, Castle Crashers or that recent TMNT game. I mean beat'em ups are pretty much a sister genre to fighting games but they're not the same.

I heard Godzilla unleashed sucked heavily because of the motion controls but I don't understand how they messed it up so badly when it was the THIRD GAME AND WAS MADE IN 2007!!! WHY WASN'T IT GIVEN TO THE XBOX 360 OR THE PS3 !?!?!?!?!
I prefer the PS2 version of unleashed over the Wii version because, while it does only have half the roster, the Wii remote and nunchuck honestly really really hinder the game play.

Destroy All Monsters Melee is definitely the best one, but Jesus Christ, it's way too hard to the point where it's unfair. We seriously need a similar-styled game for the MonsterVerse.

@@sarah-janefergusson2928it’s definitely not the same thing. DAMM has smoother gameplay and better graphics than STE. Don’t even get me started on the ps2 version of STE too; that shit looks horrendous compared to DAMM.
