  • This video demonstrates how easy it is to apply finish using a lambswool applicator. I will also show your house shellac makes the figure pop in maple and how to make a lambswool applicator of your own.

    Great idea and lovely result.
    Hand washing the lambs wool in cool / warm water before using it should reduce the shedding.

    Appreciate you sharing this! I'm wondering what you do to clean and store the lambswool after you are done applying the finish. Thanks!

    Wow, great results. I gave up on shellac mostly because I could never get it on the project decently. I always tried a good nylon brush, and the shellac would dry and start clumping before I could coat the whole piece. Definitely going to give this a try. Nice shop too.

    Lambswool is a great tip- hard to get my head around the scrubbing pads for finishing.

    • @Selandry1
      @Selandry1  3 года назад +1

      Well then I’m glad you caught the video. Buy a set of scotchbright pads. You will love them. They will take the rust off your cast iron tool tops and work great for buffing finishes. They are better than steel wool because they do a better job and don’t leave behind the steel fibers.

    • @Selandry1
      @Selandry1  3 года назад +1

      And they last forever.

      @@Selandry1 thanks for the insight!. I keep my planer shavings in a 35 gal bucket. A handful used to burnish finished wood looks like the same result, from afar. Impossible to judge on cam but your work is fantastic and I will use the pads on wood- not just cast iron ; ) Thanks again!

    I just watched another video on dust collecting systems, and I see where the Cyclone is designed for a shop vac, not a dust collector, in my search on the internet. Is this a different type than what I need for my dust collector? Any comments from anyone would be greatly appreciated, as I need to know before going through all the designing and building my system. I have a JET 1.5 hp full-sized system with the cloth bag shown on the Left as first seen in the video at the 22 second time of the video, and NOT the other type JET with the shorter filter on the right. I don't mind the cost, I just want to get the correct type of Cyclone.

    • @Selandry1
      @Selandry1  3 года назад

      Get the super dust deputy. When you use a cyclone you can get rid of the lower cloth bag and replace it with a small plastic bag or a bucket to catch the small amount that that escapes the cyclone.

      If you don’t mind cost then get a pleated upper filter. Mine says Dust Dog on the side. It came with my dust collector which I got off Craig’s list.

    • @steveallen456
      @steveallen456 3 года назад

      I'm waiting until after Christmas to get the pleated upper filter which goes down to 5 or 3 microns (don't quote me on that one), and just rigged a trash bag on the bottom of the dust collector itself. Love my system so far, built a really nice custom cedar chest for my daughter and just put the 3rd coat of tung oil on after a good sanding with 400 grit sandpaper.

    DO YOU CLEAN OUT YOUR LAMBWOOL AFTER USEING IT

    • @Selandry1

      Yes for shellac I use denatured alcohol. You can use it over and over again.
