Robert Smith - whoa! 😍 that’s some power. I’m only able to rock a 100w Orange Combo. But I have a small house. Thanks and cheers!

Great playing, and an intriguing bass. I've been kinda-sorta hankering for a short-scale, and had kinda-sorta relegated myself to buying a Japanese Mustang bass sometime, but am a die-hard Music Man Sterling (the bass model, not Music Man's budget brand) player and aficionado.
If you have any experience with Sterlings, can you confirm that the short-scale Stingray has more or less the same body/neck size and shape as a Sterling (except, obviously, scale length)? It certainly appears to me that it does, right down to the shorter headstock, and I know the nut width is the same.
This might just be my next purchase.

The sinner Jim Whitney Thanks Jim, I love sterling and used to play one, just don’t have one side by side for straight comparison at the moment . The neck profile is similar, both slightly smaller/slicker than a stingray; body size is obviously smaller. Not hard but need a little time to adapt to. Other than that, I love this little guy. Might not sound as aggressive comparing the an active 3 band, but definitely has the stingray vibe still flexible enough for many applications.

I've had several Sterling (the USA Sterlings) 4-strings and a 5-string and the short scale Stingray. Yes, the profiles are quite similar on the necks, but because of the 30 inch scale, the Stingray feels more compact, of course. The body on the Stringray is a bit smaller than the Sterling. When you first open the case on the SS Stingray, it's almost shocking how small it is (smaller than typical short scale basses). But it is SO easy to play and sounds very long-scale Stingray like--not as aggressive sounding without the active circuitry though. Personally, I far prefer the short scale Stingray. I just ordered the new budget (SBMM) version as well.

christocr I didn't realize they were doing an SBMM short-scale, that might be just the ticket. I want a little tubbier tone from a short-scale, so maybe that bass with a Nordstrand MM4.4 would be right up my alley. I've got some shopping to do...

@@michael_caz_nyc I loved it. But because I'm sort of a gear slut I actually ended up trading it for another bass (regular Stingray). THAT was a mistake. So, I'm getting another one and going back to the short scale stingray--Music Man recently released the Tim Commerford Stingrays and two of the models are short scales, one a passive and one active. I'm just putting in my order for one, so should have it in a month or two. Both the USA and import versions of this bass are very good. I've played a bunch of short scales and I think the short scale stingray (USA version) is the best of all of them. Second would be the Spector Bantam. And third would be the Fender American Performer Mustang. (of course, that's just my opinion. There are ton of short scale choices out there now)

Hey, did you do any setup/sting change on the bass or is it factory fresh?

Kaushik Kumar the strings are stock, and I did some adjustments to my liking before taping this.
