      Much of your content lack objectivity. Your channel seems dedicated exclusively to advancing the idea that Japanese people are not racist, but merely "ignorant." I've attempted multiple times to provide well researched academic data to prove the contrary, but you insist on removing information that would trigger the critical thinking skills of viewers. There isn't a single derogatory or offensive term in the body of the text I've attempted to post. I understand that deviating from the script of your handlers may adversely impact your livelihood. Arguments grounded in scientific data can't be equated with emotional appeal. Continue to worship your white god.

    Japanese asking too personal questions:
    Right. One reason is they think Americans are “direct” and for them that means anything goes. Another reason is a lot of Japanese are unable to converse on common-to-all topics, like what’s going on in the world, so that leaves only personal questions available. And another reason is that their curiosity about you is just so overwhelming that they overlook the rudeness of it. An example of that is, “ How old are you?”. I ask them if it’s okay for them to ask that question to Japanese, to which they always answer that no it isn’t.
    “ So then why are you asking me?”. Try that.
    By the way, answering personal questions will allow them to put you in a category, so think about your answers carefully.

    • @rossriver75
      @rossriver75 5 лет назад +21

      N K Why is it IMPORTANT to know her age? In her home country, the question would be simply rude if not specifically required. However, in Japan it’s more than that. It’s a way to categorize you so they know how to talk to you, having failed to base how to talk to you on anything else. Your age becomes more important than YOU are.

To many people, even Afro-Centric Americans, do not believe that there are native Afri-Centric individuals in certain other countries due to how that country is commonly profiled around the world and within. Take Mexico. It took decades before the mention of an Afri-Centric Mexican and that was done by an Afri-Centric American reality historic show. Even within the country the people are dog-tied to colorism. Ireland, Germany, Russia and many more are marketed the same.

      @dahlia raizel We are talking native born multi-generational not solely first or even second generation. I doubt you are an Afri-Centric Italian. True Afri-Centric Italians also know their own struggles due to the slave era and how their ancestors came to be Italian natives so they would not campaign for being under represented. Where ever there is an Afri-Centric individual rooted through generations there deserves that individual national representation because at no point did he or she arrive there without some sort of force, pain and/or other strife. You sound like the gen Y and Z children of Caucasian women Afri-Centric men raised outside of their Afri-Centric side of their family. Or African mom Caucasoid dad raised the same.

      And I'm not biracial. I'm a black person that was raised in Italy.
      And what does pain have to do with anything? My parents sacrificed a lot to be in thins country, but that doesn't make me Italian. The Italian media doesn't owe me representation just like the Nigerian media doesn't owe the millions of Arabs and Indians and white people that live in nigeria representation.

      It’s a different environment but honestly it just depends on where you live and what you do for a living. I was in Yokosuka back when I was in the Navy, which is only about half an hour train ride outside Tokyo. I had some great friends mostly from work, but I didn’t feel isolated. If your black it’s definitely a good idea to get an outside perspective. Racism exists everywhere, but I never once felt endangered while I was out there. Not like in the US where everyone’s got a chip on their shoulders and you’re constantly wondering if the cops or some random WS are going to come bash your head in for no particular reason. It’s good for your psyche. They fetishize hip hop over there also. You’ll occasionally run into the odd Japanese dude with braids or an Afro, lmao it’s kind of weird honestly. They even like to play our music in the bars. That said I have been told the no gajin bs before at the occasional restaurant, which means no foreigners, but they are pretty respectful about it unlike the US where they just call the cops on you. Hahaha I could go on for hours though, honestly it’s just something you have to experience. I’ve literally been to six of the seven continents and Japan is definitely in my top three countries.

      @@djgroopz4952 America really hasn't. I mean, if I've missed something let me know. The one thing that has spoken for me is my American passport. Otherwise, the American media has portrayed us as lazy and uneducated people that come from the ghetto. They've portrayed us as the black sheep of America. What the world seems to only believe about blacks in the diaspora is that we ate naturally strong. Because of America's portray of AA we get offered less money abroad in comparison to whites. Here's one example of many. Hi was living in China and saw an ad for a job. It specifically said 11,000 for AA and 20,000 for a white. They were not even ashamed of the obvious discrimination. I do want to ask though... What makes you say that American media portrays us in a good light or better than other countries?

    The dating part is interesting because I was approached by several Japanese men and asked out on dates. I was actually surprised they were so forward considering their reputation for being so laid back and reserved. One guy even asked me to go out to do dinner with him right then and there (a cute little restaurant near the train stop). He had just gotten off the train and was headed home from work. He stopped me and told me I was so beautiful and asked if I would join him for dinner. I was taken aback because it was so unexpected and unusual for any man, especially a Japanese man, to ask for an immediate date on the spot lol. I'm used to guys asking for your phone number, chatting a while, then going out. But I said no because I was not interested in the men there and was only visiting for a few days (Tokyo) anyway. Btw, I am African American.

Semi-learning Japanese but need to kick it up. Would you recommend vocabulary/hiragana, katakana first or both at same time? Drug laws are VERY strict in Japan - including on prescription drugs. There's a government organization you can contact to find out if your medicine is legal or to get permits to possess in Japan. Also, you should learn hiragana/katakana at the same time, since they're the same thing, but used in different situations and once those are locked down, work on (reading) kanji

    It's good to hear the experiences of Blacks who have moved to Japan to live. I've been to Japan on business several times and my experiences are skewed because of it. As an (Black) American businessman , I'm treated with the utmost respect and the same thing has happened in Taiwan, China, Singapore, etc. I don't think I could live in Japan because the people are too formal for my tastes.
