In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

We need to take a step back and remember that Alex created the show, comes up with the tasks, is there during every recording day, endures pain, humiliation and the wrath of the contestants and he STILL made the star of teh show someone else. That is a baffling level of humility or insanity and I admire both.
Or he's into it.
You can get away with a lot more when you're not the main focus of everyone's attention.

When asked in an interview if Alex Horne knew Rhod from before Taskmaster, Alex responded "Not well enough, to expect him to do... any of that."

Sally Phillips sprinkling Alex with lettuce, jamming cake into his armpits, and finally waterboarding him, all while laughing maniacally, will never not be funny.
I love it when contestants figure out messing with Alex gets them points.
Finding out through Greg in the podcast that Alex will do literally anything for a laugh even outside of the show as well continues to make my every day.
The one where Alex had to sit bare cheeks on a cake still feels like the most violating.
Someday I hope we get to see the tasks that didn't make the cut...and what Alex suffered for those.

You could see how visibly angry the other contestants were at Rhod’s attempt. It was…questionable, legally speaking 😂😂😂
That whole season was gold, filled with lots of anger and just... bafflement directed at Rhod
Special Cuddle was the first task of Series 5. It certainly set the tone

@@yellowrubberducky81 ---I'm starting to think that Rhod may have some unexplored aspects of himself that he's never fully explored, and poor Little Alex Horne is paying the price for it.
After having played with Rhod before, I'm sure Alex has long since gotten immune to humiliation. I feel like the last vestiges of his pride as far as image on telly goes, went when Rhod did the quick swap task. Really does show what you need to have to make a show like this though - sheer commitment to the bit, dignity be damned. Alex becoming the Taskmaster's Minion despite being the creator of the show was a stroke of genius, because he's therefore not asking anybody else to give up their dignity. He does it because it's his show at heart. Makes you truly appreciate his power level.
