  • In this video I will show you how to make a Pad that will measure the power of your kick. If you want to see which kick is more powerful, whose kick is more forceful, or measure how much your kicks have improved this is your tool! Best of all it requires no technical knowledge, no wireing, no expensive components, and no. Computers. It’s completely analogue and will cost you under $70!

    Genius idea by the way ! I don't use theses type of devices in my classes but if I want to make it I will definitely use your ideas ! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

    This is pretty cool and ingenious.
    Minor correction (since it's the internet): Power = energy/time. Kinetic energy is 1/2mv^2. Kinetic energy is solely related to how fast something is moving. If you can get it moving fast, in a short time, that means that you generated a lot of power. You can get something moving fast though by accelerating it very slowly for a long period of time. In this case, you didn't generate much power, every though you might have a lot of kinetic energy. Of course, to get your foot moving fast, you have to generate a lot of power, because your leg isn't super long, so you only have so much distance over which to accelerate it up to speed. So in the limited case of kicking, power is very closely related to kinetic energy. Though you could imagine a case where you were riding a slowly accelerating rocket for a while until it got to high speed, then stuck your foot out. It would hit very hard, but you barely generated any power at all. :)

    I think you just put some power striking pad companies out of business! 😀😀

    Funny vid, and i admire the ingenuity of the concept, but it's obviously remarkably inconsistent. With a few tweaks however, this idea could be applied better, so you might be onto something.

    Great idea! I had asked a couple teen students to try making one with Arduinos, but it didn't work out very well. KISS is always best!

      ... I've been thinking of doing one with a force cell and arduino as well. if you'd like to talk about it some time, let me know!

    My brother and I found a company, in the late 90's, selling kicking pads with just this kind of measuring device. We were looking for inexpensive kicking pads to measure our power. they didn't have all the duct tape and such, but the mechanism was exactly the same. We played about with it for a while but got tired of it. It never really worked well. However, I say kudos for creating this. I love homemade gear.

      That is really cool!!! What did you use for the pump and for the measure?

      @@SimonScher I don't know exactly what was used, we didn't make it we got it from a company and we didn't tear it apart. But the measuring device was outside the bag, of course. And it was just like the one in the video. I'm thinking it was designed the exact same way.

    how accurate is it can you get consistent readings across students?

    • @SimonScher
      @SimonScher  Год назад +1

      It is fairly accurate. It takes i to account accuracy. But it’s measurements are relative given the meter doesn’t measure in pounds per sq inch but in peak flow measurements. But comparing one strike to another it’s in point
