- To pursue ones training in the Martial Arts requires a greater than average ability to balance be it on two feet to punch or one foot to kick. This video is designed to provide a greater understanding of balance and equilibrium. It provides drills and tips to achieve this end.
Hello, man! Thank you for the tutorial.
There is also very good chinese static exercise for training vestibular apparatus and balancing muscles.
1. Stay on one leg.
2. CLOSE YOUR EYES.
3. Stay for 2 min (gradually increase time to 10 min)
4. Change the leg.
just picked up Taekwondo again after a 35 years break. Feels great and also feel sorry for not practicing this long! Great vid on balance! tnx Regards from Holland.
Really good stuff. I definitely be forgetting how important a strong core is for martial arts.
Thank you. This has really helped me out. I’ve became too used to holding onto a bar/wall for high kicks and realized I couldn’t balance my kicks after. Thanks to this video I’ve learned to feel and hold that center alignment.
Awesome Video I just obtained my Green belt and this is a tremendous help.,.Learning Balance.,.
This video is PURE GOLD
That's great balance and technique!! Thank you for sharing.
Great video mate. Thank you for sharing 🙏
amazing work that's impresive
Excellent very good
Thanks so much
Awesome videos. I'm one year into TKD training and balance is currently my limiting factor with turning kick. This has really given me some good ideas to work on.
This is wonderfull
I'm green belt and I find that I learn a lot from your videos. Thanks!
This was a well-done, informative video. Thanks!
Great vid. I lose balance during poomse all the time. Good advice
An absolutely awesome tutorial!
Thanks for taking the time to shoot it!
THanks so much! That means alot
Thank you very much, God bless you!
Awesome video. You have a remarkable understanding of human body and how it behaves. This's one of the most neglected aspect in some martial arts schools - they just dive in to kicks and punches without understanding the mechanics of the body.
Great as always , I love your videos because I' am your fan and you are the best of all on you tube , thank you bro .👍
Your explainition is excellent...
Great vid! thanks

Bro seriously, you deserved more subscribers and views.
thanks so much! I totally agree! WE should talk to the algorithms that decide these things and let them know ;)
I like this video. I found it realy insightfull and great fun spilling water all over myself for hours.
thank you i learn a lot .
I LIKE ALL YOUR VIDEOS !!
Thanks so much. That means a lot. I'll keep them coming.
Excellent Sir! You've given me so many things to think about.. and learn! Cheers!
Honored. Good to hear from you sir.
You're always so thorough and detailed i
n your videos. Love it and your kicks look superb. When I was a teen I could hold a side kick 180.. 20 years later muscles have weakened and so has the flexibility but I'm determined to get back there. Does ageing affect balance? I hear it might...
Good Info Here.
awesome video
thank you so much! I appreciate your feedback.
five stars..ITF my old school...respect
Too good
Great Video. I just found your channel today, But you videos are very good. They are well edited, you are well spoken and hit lots of great points. I hope to have my channel be as good as your one day. I bring up many of these points to my students as well.
Thanks so much. I am psyched you like it. Good luck with your channel.
very helpful ...awesome video ..do you have a video on blocking techniques with the leg? Things like hooking kick and crescent kick?
Hi Dave. I am not 100% sure what you are asking. I don’t have any vids on using kicks as blocks, though it is on muni to do list. I do have a tutorial on blocking. It does cover blocking kicks like the hook and crescent kick. I also have tutorials for both the hook and crescent kick. The blocking one is called Blocking Tutorial. Please let me know if that helps?
Thank you
Excellent video. Lot's of good advice and suggestions. Only one problem with the cup suggestion, heads come in various degrees of flatness. Mine tends to come to a point on top, and that makes it difficult to steady anything on top. Keep up the good work.
I appreciate the feedback. A good point. You could try putting the cup on your shoulders
Mahasattva27 in many countries carrying things o ones head is commonplace. Perhaps a wide shallow bowl supported with a small towel round the base. If you wabble you will of course still notice the wetness around your ears ;)
Intelligently put
He ain’t no joke
You look like Daniel Stern :) Nice tutorial and very important indeed!
Him... thanks. I think. Should I be called the sticky bandit then?
The sticky bandit that we don't mess with ;)
Mono Coccyx, He kinda does!😂
Excelente forma de entrenar T. K. D.
Another great video
Thank you sir
Good video, my balance is not good. I can plank good 3 minutes too. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong
Good tacnic
The reason why most people have a hard time with balance is because they use their heel which is just another joint, one has to use the front on the foot without going into tip-toes, the last is only a resource to maintain balance when the body has momentum, and I have to say that the balance is only achievable if there is a good understanding of the position of the hipbone which requires almost zero lordosis and a concentration of the load in the big toe's bones as if we were ungulates, just there is where we could experience a better understanding of the movement of the leg and specially of the knee which works pretty much like the elbow as it needs the ankle to work properly.
some good points! I cover some of these points in my video on the importance of the Pivot.
For something to fall over its centre of gravity needs to be outside its base - otherwise it will stay upright :)
Where is the video on falling?
I'd like to see.
Look up ukemi
Can you please name the half-round shaped equipment you used over here to practise advanced balance techniques? Thanks in advance! 😃
Sure. It's called a Bosu. They use them in a lot of arabica classes at big gyms. Great for balance practice.
Thanks a lot! 😊 Keep up the good work!
Wow
Anyone else spot the chinstrap attached to cup? Just joking - cool demo and some nice tips; thanks for sharing.
Martin George ...lol
You joker 😂
Finally interesting exercices on balance which are not for 86 years old sumos
thank you! I am glad you like them. I hope your training goes well!
I'm junior black belt and still can't balance but don't worry I already know how cuz of you!
I am very pleased to hear it. Thank you for sharing your progress.
How long did it take you?
yeah easy for you to say, I've never seen people like you fall. Because you guys are like Ninja. Im the person who should worry about fall. However this video is beneficial.
What do you do with dwichaggi? Not all kicks you look where you are kicking!
Yes you do. Your head spins first. It locks onto your target as the rest of your body spins.
When you jumped, you turned your head after the kick at 4:27 in this video : ruclips.net/video/l590KYjkhYo/видео.html
me gustaria unos subtitulos al español!!!! me gustan tus videos.
My side kick IMMEDIATELY improved when keeping my head erect. Thank you for the tips!
Wait, do you nose breathe, mouth breathe, or a combination of both? It looks like you're inhaling through nose and mouth and exhaling through nose and mouth.
i tend to do both. though in nose and out mouth is technically ideal.
Great video. Please, can you speak slowly?
you got it. thanks.
i can`t do a balance kick its so hard and painful
Repetition is the mother of learning
thank you for that advice i just ask can i training in without in that teakwando
IF YOU are asking if you can do taekwondo but not have good balance? The answer would be maybe but probably not very well. Balance is a key component in kicking
is it here in the philippines
What about Muay Thai? You are always on your toes
What if I have an egg-head?
And if you suck at even walking like a normal person?😔
🇰🇷🇰🇷
3:18 aaaarrrghhh cut your toenails! You could CUT someone when sparring with talons like that!!! Do you sleep on a telegraph wire? lol
Good advice/lesson as usual!
(no disrespect intended)
Lol, those are not my feet. I sourced a few clips that I needed last minute to illustrate a few points. I do not know whose they are but yes they are very long.
Pinguins
ITF should have a flag of North Korea and not South Korea. :D
d. nenic Get a LIFE!
Z
Itf taekwondo is north korea
This is not true balance. True balance is bekng able to have it thrown off and being able to quickly chase it. In a fight you should not be stationary like this but great vid non the less
MIXED WEEB - This basic class on balance is for all to practice . Simon is the best , no doubt at all .👍
These exercises will get you there. That's how you develop the kind of balance you are talking about.
You talk too much instead of focusing on terms.
