MiMa's cover of Airwolf Theme (extended mix)

- Here's my cover of the theme of the famous 80ies TV series Airwolf. I choose to cover the extended version, as I found it more interesting. No sequencing used, all played by hand (even bass and arpeggio parts) expect the rythm which I sequenced into my DAW. I also added a personal touch in the central part, where I put a melody (played on the Yamaha DX-7) that is absent in the original. Every time I listened to that section of the song I heard that melody in my head, so I decided to put it in my cover.
Like with the others of my last videos, this is not really a live show, I reconstructed the entire song from scratch part by part, then I filmed myself playing them, this time even from various angles. The audio is all from the rebuilt song, not from the filmed parts.
By the way, three of the four instruments I used this year turn 40, which are the Oberheim OB-8, the Roland Jupiter 6 and the Yamaha DX-7. All of them are from 1983, so this video can be meant as a way to celebrate them :-)

great work.... doing the same right now... but with kind of modern synthwave-darkwave-"harsh-electro" elements :)
Thank you. Please tell me when you'll be finished with yours, I'm curious to take a look at it :-)
Mima for president!!
:-D
One of my 80's favorites! Long while back you had answered a question I had regarding source of correct CS-80 voice card calibration information. I seem to have misplaced it and the link in our conversation no longer appears....you wouldn't happen to recall would you? Again thank you.
Maybe that's the link you're talking about: h t t p s : / / mf o x h d . b l o g s p o t . c o m /2 0 1 5 / 1 2 / y a ma h a - c s - 80 - c a l i bra t i o n - in t r o . h t ml (remove spaces).

Lots of questions! Did you take license with the horn riff at 2:22? Now, how long did it take you in total, to make this finished product? And my MODX8 is possessed. Would have loved to been in studio to see you do this! edit: 🤣disregard question 1.
Thanks for your comment. If I remember correctly I worked on this video for about 2 months, starting by building the entire song from scratch until the final video editing. I do videos in my spare time, which is not very much and this makes me taking a long time to put them together.
@@mima85 Thanks. There was another who did Airwolf, using 3 synths, and I asked how many tracks- guessed 15, and he said over 27! Umph!
@@andrewczski1969 Well, with your estimation you're close to mine, as I have 18 tracks in my Airwolf's Reaper project :-)
Pesti duro! 💪
Mi piace il pesto :-D
davvero niente male!
Grazie :-)
Nice collection.. Perhaps add an original Waldorf Microwave with a good 3rd party hardware programmer... You would like that combo.
Yeah I'm pretty sure I'd like it, but for now I'm already happy with what I have, which by itself is almost too much for the limited use I make of it :-)
@@mima85 Understood, I stopped buying synths 15 years ago. I look at that new Trigon 6...I want it.. ...but think.. shit you can already make that with your Xpander...
And I have a DX7 IIFD, ...ahh .... still one of the best digital synths...
But I think you would enjoy a PPG type synth. Personally I have a Prophet VS and a Microwave XT... they are awesome digital synths.

@@mitchelstephen7536 Yeah, I know the feeling :-)
I have a DX7-II too, I found it some years ago for 250 euros, together with a sound cartridge and a hard carrying case. I just couldn't resist. And a couple of years before that, I found the DX-7 MK-1 featured in this video for 180 euros, also sold together with a couple of cartridges. Those were the last times were you could still find some nice vintage stuff for little money, now the prices are going up every day that passes.
I have some wavetable stuff, a Korg DW-8000 and a Hydrasynth. Those of course aren't a PPG, but especially the latter can cover that type of sounds pretty well.
@@mima85 The Hydrasynth is a nice alternative to a Prophet VS and Waldorf stuff.
Sega Genesis sounding music
I bet you feel the "sega genesis vibes" especially with the parts played by the Yamaha DX-7. That's because the Genesis' main sound chip, which uses FM synthesis, is a derivative of the DX-7 (and it's made by Yamaha as well, by the way). Hence the similarities.
@@mima85 I know. It’s also no coincidence that Sega Genesis music sounds like Michael Jackson type music
Nicht jetzt 😊
