Nice video. I bought my 111 15 years ago. Still love it and wear it frequently. Now I also have a Submersible and Radiomir. I have a Rolex GMT, Breitling SOH, Cartier Santos and others…but still enjoy Panerai the most.
Totally agree. Just picked up a PAM117 and it needed a couple of weeks on my wrist before I realised it’s a freakin’ beast that you could wear doing bad stuff in bad places! 😎😅🤙🏻 I love it! 🤩 But it took some time to establish that relationship!
I loved Panerai since I first saw one in the first watch magazine I bought around 1999. Over the years, I have owned many and I love the brand. One of my favorites is my 47mm 364, which is nicknamed the Subzilla because of its massive proportions and its 2500m water resistance.
i LOVE Panerai watches. period. also, you have one of the nicest /purest/ cleanest Models. why do i love them ?. their style is like no other. just unique. BTW. looks great on your wrist... and once you're used to it's size. you'll find all your other pieces look small-ish.
I just got the new 10 Days GMT with the blue dial. Love this thing. The in house movement keeps excellent time. Picked it up at the Florence Italy AD, which was an experience in itself. I have several other nice watches, but it is very rare to get any compliments on them. Rolex sub, Omega Speedmaster, a carbon Pam. The new Pam really stands out. Have received five or six compliments on the watch in a month. Funny considering that’s twice as many compliments as I ever received in over 15 years of wearing high end watches.
I have a PAM177 and it's exactly what you said why I have it. Of course another plus is that mine is made out of Titanium, which adds to its lightness. It is my favorite watch. I have also a PAM386, but PAM177 wins.
Panerai is one of those brands that are easy to knock if you’ve never tried it. Took me over 12 years of watch collecting to finally try a 44mm Luminor and loved it. I just took a newer PAM1335 in on a trade, 45mm Radiomir, and fricking love it. Like other niche brands, IWC or JLC, you either get it or you don’t.
I've got a ~6 inch wrist, most popular watches look large on me, but I own a PAM973 and it just works. It's the flat case back, downward sloping lugs, and general design that makes it look good/appropriate.
Nice watch! I also recently got into Panerai just this year. I had reservations with the size, but have been pleasantly surprised. Really like mine. Enjoy yours!
I tried Panerai on for the first time a few weeks ago. I too thought it would be just too big for my 6.9 inch wrist. I was wrong. There is a Panerai purchase in my near future. Great post!
Glad you like it! I had been wearing my Titanium PAM176 with sandwich dial virtually all day everyday for 13 years and still like to put it on once in while to reminisce. It's just the greatest beater watch ever - for me that is. 👌🏻
I got a smoking deal on one years ago and the fun about it is that it’s a strap monster. I’ve put black, brown and green leather, standard black and olive nato, red leather nato leather, yellow rubber, blue suede, and brown embossed leather straps on it and it looks like a brand new watch each time I wear it. I’ve never had a problem with the size and it’s a keeper for sure.
Panerai on the wrist just work. The shape , weight distribution etc. the design is gorgeous my fave is the Pam 164, but I’m a little biased. In your line up it’s the standout watch IMO. nice one.
Another thing, Harrison. The size is absolutely fine for your wrist size. I think we've exaggerated the size trope with watches where anything bigger than 40 mm is seen as a brick. That is absolutely not the case and you can see it perfectly at a glance with your wrist. Big watches are fun.
I couldn't agree more. I'm really tired of hearing RUclipsrs say that a men's sports watch has to be small, thin and light. I like my sports watch to have presence. Since when exactly does a sports watch have to have the specs of a dress watch? And no, I don't have an Invecta, a dinner plate or a wall clock. I have a Planet Ocean and an MM300. Real sports watches for real men.
The reason that companies are turning to smaller sizes and that their shills in YT and elsewhere are advocating for ever smaller watches is their desire to cater to the emerging and booming Asian market. 42-44mm is a perfect size for a diver but way too big for the average asian wrist. Rather than create two lines of watches and bear the cost, companies and their shills are trying to convince us that 36mm is ok for a sports watch and 39mm is great for a diver.
My wrist is a smidge bigger than 6" but I have two 44mm Luminors and two 45mm Radiomirs and probably wear them collectively more than any other watches I own. I'm sure it's not to everyone's taste, but for me, Panerai is the only design that I just never get tired of wearing. Most other watches I find that after wearing for a while, I need to put them away for a bit before wearing again. This has never happened for me with my Panerais.
I barely have a six inch wrist and added a Pam 104 to my collection about 15 years ago. I expected to get it out of my system pretty quickly. Fast forward to today, and it still gets a lot of wrist time. For some reason, the shape and scale work, where other larger watches don’t. In the meantime, I have sold several grail pieces including a Daytona.
The PAM111 was my choice as well. Ticks all the spec boxes a PAM should IMO have, and man it just feels the business. Plus the Italian heritage, plus it's bit under the radar.. mostly watch people know about it. Might add a modern slimmer 42mm 1950s case at some point when I need to put on longer sleeves but those are definitely different ball game - more blingy and luxurious. Nothing wrong with having multiple PAM's I suppose.
I really identify with your point about breaking your brain and breaking outside your comfort zone, that's one of the most exciting things for me in the watch hobby! Just a thought, I've heard that natos or fixed lug bars can be a safety hazard around machinery because if your watch or strap gets caught you'd rather have the watch ripped off than have it suck your arm into a machine with it.
You are maybe the closest of all the watch RUclipsrs out there that has strict guidelines for owning watches like I have Because I also have strict rules like I only wear watch with ETA or SW movement because that's what I can service myself. No more than 11mm thickness and not above 5k$. Yea sometimes are is a watch that's against everything but it just clicks. Cheers!
Glad to see you're broadening your horizons on watch sizes. I know watch trends are going towards smaller watches, but I still prefer my larger watches. It's a great time to pickup larger watches because there is less demand (lower prices).
I also got a PAM111 last July.....after a week or so my eyes were adjusted and it didn´t feel (too) big anymore at all (7 inch wrist) it wears just fine.....and this experience was my trigger to finally go for the watch I´ve been wanting for years and years, the watch that is for me the coolest watch on the planet but always thought I couldn´t wear it, ´cause too big, the IWC Big Pilot 5002, and now I finally bought one, and I am so happy with it, it always puts a smile on my face when I wear it......and some might say it is too big, but I don´t care what others say or think, I wear the watch for me to like, not for others to like.........and what some forget, the PAM and Big Pilot were designed to be big, they are not supposed to wear like a 34 or 36mm dress watch.
Love Panerai! Could have a collection built of all Panerai! I own the PAM049, 40mm, 15mm thick, absolutely fire. One of my all time favorite watches and will never leave my collection!
The Rolex Sub is a great diver. I wore mine scuba diving in wrecks and caves all over the world. Divers use wrist mounted computers to manage their dive time so in some sense wearing a time only device is obsolete, but it does serve as a backup so you have some sense of how long you have been in the water if your dive computer craps out. Plus it's nice to look at when you're doing a "bag-hang" - a mid water decompression stop
Looks good, brother. I honestly think 44mm is the right size for a PANERAI, and I say that as someone who also thinks 38-40mm is the sweet spot generally. But I’ve handled an old 38mm PANERAI and it just feels super weird, it doesn’t work.
bought a 177. It's similar to the 111, but in Titanium. I absolutely love it. It's so unique and funny to wear and the polar opposite of the BB54 and Cartier Tank. Smaller is better, etc. And I'm a happy Tank owner :-)
As with anything you wear. It's important that you're wearing it, rather than it wearing you. Always wear what you're comfortable with. Enjoy your Panerai and give it that wrist time if your Rolex is too stuffy! I wear a black dial Citizen Tsuyosa the most for a similar reason. It's still matches my aesthetic, but I don't have to worry if I break it. Nor do I ever feel embarrassed to tell someone what I'm wearing if they ask.

Love Panerai, been wearing them for the last 15 years or so. Sold them all, got into Rolex and Omega but now I'm back on the Panerai train with one of my favorites, the 212. I regretted selling this one more than the others, it's just incredibly bad-a$$ and rugged and macho. One of my firsts, years ago, was a Pam 111. I loved it and miss it. It's classic Panerai.

Got a Pam 00091 titanium + grey dial (after the sunset), love that I can just wind it without having to screw/unscrew the crown while i wear other watches. Also looks great on the bracelet / not too flashy with the titanium and not a fan of the sandwiched dial as much.. might get one w a white face one day tho (40 or 44mm 🤔). 7 1/2” wrist, fits great. Buy used save a bunch of $, there are fakes out there so be smart about it.
Harrison if you want to "learn to do things a little different", I want to see you with a watch with a LOUD dial. I'm talking Glashutte Senator Sixties, or Grand Seiko, or maybe even H Moser. Don't be scared, you can pull it off!
Panerai's are unique. No other watch looks like it. They draw attention from non watch enthusiasts. One is enough. It is almost impossible to define cool, but Panerais are cool.
Divers these days use dive computers if they actually do it frequently. Its an anachronism and I like the watch, but it is a jewelry watch. Much like many 4WD SUVs never see the dirt, most dive watches see little more than the pool or a brief vacation experience with the sea. Nice watch.
Sorry Chisholm but your collection looks like you watched every you tube video on what a watch collection should contain & just got that watch. Well done going for something different to the crowd. 👍
There was a time when wearing a Panerai or IWC was way cooler than wearing a Rolex. PAM 005 and 001's were never in stock. You had to check the store regularly.
This year I’ve started to realize that just because I love a watch or it’s design doesn’t mean I have to maintain possession of it. I don’t want an enormous collection and I want to continue experiencing more watches, so the best option then is to sell to buy the next one

Panerai is not for everyone, love it or hate it. I’ll never buy another brand after owning one for the last 5 years. My wife got a 40mm and said exactly the same. Forgot when last time wore my Zenith…
Hey Harrison, the jacket you are wearing at 4:02 has a metal button at the sleeve. Do you find that the metal underside of that piece ever scratches the heck out of your watches? Also, love the Pam 111. I own the Panerai Marina Pam 510 with the 8 day power reserve. I believe it is the first in house movement that replaced your Pam 111. Keep up the great content!
It’s funny you compared the Pam to your sub. I own a Batgirl but wanted a sports watch that was for active use. No way I would wear a sub the way I wear my Pam
This video should be documented as a masterclass demonstration of overthinking haha. The watch looks good on your wrist. It’s just a different style of watch. Panerai was super popular with the generation above us. It’s not in vogue anymore but it’s still a unique design. As part of a collection, I think it works.
When out and about , when you or other people see a larger watch on another man no one cares, and the size never stands out or looks crazy at all, unless it's like the 54mm invicta types. Just my 2 cents.. I think this whole size thing is mostly in our heads.
God, I hate screw-down crowns. My watches never see any water, yet I keep having to unscrew and screw back the crown after winding it every few days if I decide to pick a different watch.
I bought that one myself last year after watching Evan from your terrific channel, love it, but you just have to wind it up a couple of times a day, I keep forgetting it’s not automatic 😅

When out and about , when you or other people see a larger watch on another man no one cares, and the size never stands out or looks crazy at all, unless it's like the 54mm invicta types. Just my 2 cents.. I think this whole size thing is mostly in our heads.
I have a reasonably small wrist but i have an Ebel tekton titanium chronograph 1911 which is 50mm . Why do i wear it ?? Because i love it
I have 3 and i want another one....
like your quote: lose some money but get exp from panerai watch
There are now plenty of Panerai watches that aren’t big. You got options even as small as 38mm.
Not the real thing. PAM for girls or very effeminate guys.
God, I hate screw-down crowns. My watches never see any water, yet I keep having to unscrew and screw back the crown after winding it every few days if I decide to pick a different watch.
A Panerai just says "F..K" you to all other watches.
love panerai they are so unique.. you can tell it from far away... submariner for instance is beatifull but so so copied by other brands
I like them!
6:23 fits fine
For some reason, Panerai reminds me of Vincent Van Gogh. I can't figure out why.
iconic!
I like it as well
I bought that one myself last year after watching Evan from your terrific channel, love it, but you just have to wind it up a couple of times a day, I keep forgetting it’s not automatic 😅
What size is your wrist
Panerai is awesome. Disagree and you're wrong.
What’s with all those dings and scratches on ALL sides of the case? A you work as mason or welder? Damn.
