The sincere non sponsored recommendations are really a testament to Makari's commitment to her followers, in an age everybody needs to be payed to say stuff in the internet
Even old dad was inspired... Grabbed some weights (light ones), put on my new headphones and blasted Inxs' "Devil Inside" and some Nazareth (for old time's sake). Shoulders are tender today and it feels pretty heckin' good. Thanks, kid! ❤
Makari, I always click your vids just to see what's up bc your intros are so funny. Next thing I know, I'm completely invested. LOVE your comedy, style, editing and, of course, personality. You're an inspiration!!
I like how you are real about not enjoying working out at first, I have always felt the key to any kind of a sucessful workout program, is to give it an honest try and find your joy in it. If not eventually will power gives out and you stop.
I started weight training 8 months ago. I started out with a wall sit of 39 seconds, and now my record is 4 minutes. Started out with a deadlift of around 70, now I'm at 165. I have never been naturally athletic or strong; I was always one of the last to be picked for teams in P.E. growing up. I'm having a blast. Keep going!
I started lifting weights for the first time a month ago. I hated it before, but I found a way to keep it consistent (bribing myself with coffee and podcasts and not making myself leave the house) and I love it now!! It makes such a difference. Cheers to keeping it up for the rest of our lives 😅🎉
I just finished my second week of weight lifting following the programs that you recommend🎉 I started the day after you posted and the thing that I most feel is pride in myself. Thanks for the inspiration, girl! Keep up the great work!
I sincerely appreciate that you show a normal person struggling in a normal situation, but you were also able to point out that you have more time than the average person for doing this kind of activities. I started a course of Calisthenics at the university in my town and I am able to do only that, but it's twice a week for 2h15 each lesson. I feel that in this year I improved a lot and I live better and feel better about myself
You deserve 1 Million subs. These are S++++++ tier videos, your humor, editing, pacing, and story telling are fantastic!!!! You are super inspirational and I cant wait to watch your journey! Your workout videos are always so grounded and provide realistic and tangible goals for people which is really inspiring!
I am 52, suffered from hardcore clinical depression and some RL impacts for the last 12 yrs (absolutely no sports during that time). Before I was very fit, swam a lot, cycled a lot (in any kind of weather all seasons). Depression made that come to a screeching halt. I started training again in '24, three times a week (2x muscular, 1x cardio) and it was hard, very hard. But my body "remembered" and the effect it has due to perseverance is so positive. I get to the gym every day at 7:30 (and I hate getting up early) and do my workout, without checking a clock. When I leave for work I know I did all that is really important: take care of my body. It IS hard to step up and take responsibility for your body and especially to do that every day. But it is worth it, sooo much. It gets even more important when getting "older". But I rather have "pain" from training than from frustration, overweight and a failing body. Thank you VERY much showing us these episodes, as they show me that it's hard, no matter what age and no matter what starting point. All that counts is not to give up as we're doing it ONLY for ourselves and our health.
I just started weightlifting again after a break that started in the pandemic and never stopped--really needed this video! I've been struggling with motivation and creating workouts, so a peloton trial sounds super helpful :) loved the video as always!
I love your videos. Great energy and outlook. And the challenges you choose feel very approachable with tangible results. You are inspiring! Thank you for spending the time to put these together.
I literally love all your videos! The topic being weightlifting today is like cherry on the cake as i have been consistently weightlifting since a year. Lots of love 🫶🏻❤️
I just heard…’I gotta get back to lifting weights’. Thanks for, once again, motivating us, and for outlining your 30 days in your description! Very helpful! Looks like the roller is a staple in your stretching!
I loved this!!! I actually started weightlifting in November and it has been the first type of exercise I've actually fallen in love with and stuck with :)))) I tracked my workouts from the beginning and seeing my progess brings me so much joy. I was definitely a "picked last in gym class, unfit" kid and teen, and I soooo feel you with the mental strengh in weight training! challenging myself on the regular and proving to myself that I can love this sport I never thought I'd be brave enough to try makes me feel amazing, and the strenght makes me feel so capable. Plus, my body looks sooo different and beautiful now, and I love that it's because of my consistency and hard work! Honestly, my weightlifting journey has really been a confidence journey and I love it ❤ Now I only need to get consistent about doing cardio haha 😅
i just LOVE continuing to see your growth, both with your channel, and with your spirit! each video inspires me beyond belief. been here i wanna say since 10k-ish??? but couldn't be happier to be watching your journey! I'm currently in the 20 minute weights three times a week and I'm going to wake up earlier for more time to add those extra ten...
How can i balance between study time and workout time.. You inspired me a lot your videos are the best for me because of your realitic personality and your funny soul❤️
I have been so excited for every video of yours and this one keeps me excited! I really love these challenges an experiments you take us on to show the happenings physically, mentally, and emotionally. You radiate positive attitude and hold it with realistic reflection and I really appreciate that as an important example of humaning. Thanks again for sharing your journey with us, Makari! Also, don’t know if you synced the video and music up intentionally, but 2:50 made me cackle.
I have to say, seeing this upload and putting it on while attempting my first 10 min walk/run after injury this morning, really felt like it was meant to be! The perfect length and motivation to get me through something I really wasn’t looking forward to ☺️
I love your insights for this video! I feel like now-a-days people workout mostly for aesthetic reasons, but I loved how you pointed out the other benefits of working out apart from just getting strong and gaining muscle!
LOVED this video. Concrete and measurable improvements are key to keeping motivation but you have to test periodically to see the results! I started focusing more on weight lifting about two years ago, but never really found my motivation. I've really just been trying to focus on showing up each day. Building habits like this has always been hard for me. I'm two years in and still relying on the trainers I see once a week to provide accountability (based on my own internalized shame). Now, I have seen improvements, but since I wasn't focused on that, I never included testing in my routine. So I am missing the concrete understanding of the changes. Seeing your 5/7 day schedule has inspired me to build a more targeted routine that includes every muscle group each week. This was a great example of what progress looks like and why it's important. Great work!!!
Mak, I enjoy these little “experiments” you take on. One even inspired me, (M 63 yrs, bilateral prosthetic legs), to do aerobics 6 days a week for a month. I wonder, what is your goal with these fitness experiments? Thank you.
Hi Makari! I stumbled upon your videos a while ago and I really love them! There is something really unique about the way you do content and talk that makes watching the videos very enjoyable. It’s hard to describe but I think your endearing, positive and tongue-in-cheek presentation definitely builds a solid base for success here on RUclips!
Your videos are always so motivating and upliting, really inspiring me to not only tackle my own challenges but do so with so much fun and laughing through it
Thank you for showing the whole part of your journey and not just the positive part, it's so much more motivating that way! I'm also using the peloton app and your video has pushed me over the edge to do strength programs again. So also thanks for that! :)
Bloody well done. I did have my dad hat on though for a bit thinking "I hope she's not doing too many of these challenges at the same time and giving her body chance to rest a bit". That said it has made me think about trying to do my own 30 day challenges. As always the videography and narration were top notch
Strength training is so important and honestly never realized how much so now at 57 trying to incorporate that into my somewhat sedentary lifestyle is a challenge - biggest challenge - getting started and to keep going when in pain or having sore muscles- failing so far but maybe by my 40th high school reunion next year I will be able to be proud of myself for trying and sticking with it - will keep ya posted! Thx for sharing my favourite person(ality) on YT - you always make me happier! 😊
I started weightlifting for the first time in my life in May this year and I can’t believe how much I love it! I’ve been quite consistently going 3 times a week and the joy I feel with finally finding exercise that I enjoy and can sustain is incredible. Definitely relate to feeling so much stronger physically and mentally
So I’m 49 and used to do weight training regularly but got sooo many overuse injuries (workouts were 60-90 minutes) and I want to get back into weights-this video has me reevaluating everything. It’s PERFECTLY FINE to do 20 minutes a day and not 90 minutes (like a complete lunatic). I love this. Thank you.
I love it!! I actually just finished my workout when I saw this had been posted, so I watched as I stretched! I only recently got into strength training and last week completed an 11 week (!!) summer program, which is something I never thought I'd be saying! I'm waiting for the fall program to start up but in the meantime I'm revisiting old workouts and getting more confident upping the weights. I'm 30 now and it's been so cool to feel myself getting stronger and just feeling so much better overall than I have these last few years. Great video, as always!
Like other said, one of the few channels where you hit the like before watching ! Always good to see your smiling face, and we know there is a positive video coming. How did it go with the cycling, still out on two wheels ? Antway good job trying to motivate people to get started on different sports 🙂
Saving this to watch on my day off but I just want you to know how I look forward to your videos! I relate to you so much, you are so relatable and goofy and I just feel uplifted when I watch your content. I’ve loved seeing your channel explode lately. I know vlogging probably won’t be your thing on this channel but some occasional DITL vids would be welcomed by most of us probably! I know it’s hard to put out these more time consuming videos frequently, but they don’t all have to be like that if you feel like posting less intensive/planned out content. Love from South Carolina ❤
Another great video ! I started biking right when you posted your biking video and it made me feel less alone, so thank you ! Are you still doing that ??
This is so awesome! Congrats! Good on you for persevering and seeing that mindset shift happen. It isn't easy to do, but weightlifting is so rewarding. Perhaps you can try out some powerlifting or olympic-style weightlifting as a follow-up challenge? Lots of fun! Can't wait for the next!
I'd been sick and recovering these past 2 weeks, but itching to work out because I didn't want to lose my motivation/consistency. This was a nice reminder to get back into it slow, but steady. Plus that time off gave my shoulder time to recover and now i can do weights again! Yey haha.
That's awesome progress in just 4 weeks! As a (currently inactive) Kinesiologist, you did a great job with progressive overload and the results speak for themselves 💪 Keep it up, Makari!
M - Motivating A - Adaptable K - Kind A- Awesome R - Resilient I - Inspirational I am not an expert at exercise, nor am I at cycling as well. I just discovered your channel, and I must say, I humbly appreciate both the content and aura you provide in your uploads. You are like the conductor in an electrical current, in which you permit positive flows. For any future videos you upload, hopefully you continue to provide words of affirmation to your audience in the outros, as we love you and your videos. Never stop being yourself in this version of The Game of Life and play it to the fullest. Take care and be safe!
It's always tough to compare yourself to past-you, but it's so good to meet yourself where you are at and appreciate all the victories, even the small ones. A small victory for me -- not letting my workout routine get derailed for too long. Life is going to happen, consistency isn't always achievable, but the important thing is to either get back on that horse OR adapt to new circumstances. In the past, I've let a minor upset completely derail me. More recently, I've been better about getting back on the horse or making adjustments so that at least I'm doing SOMETHING. Physical activity is so good for my body and I agree with you, the mind too. It helps my mental health a lot. Cheers!
yay new makari video! I love weightlifting but this love only came after a few months of showing up every day. We do feel stronger than our teenager selves because we were - let’s face it - dumber as teenagers. Your video made me realize how much happier I am as a grown-up! Keep on lifting, it makes us get old healthier can’t wait for your next video!!
Love that I accidentaly am being conviced of living a healthier lifestyle with more exercise in my routine. I am being positevitely influenced by you. Cheers
Are you someone that hates or likes exercise? I've seen your videos but can't figure it out. lol. "OMG this sucks." *Two days later* "I like biking now."
The first step is always the hardest. Most people who LOVES exercise, hated it at first. When push through the first hurdle, you start to feel the amazing benefits. That time frame from hating to loving can be different for everyone and depends on a lot of variables.
I love it 80% of the time. I think it's symbolic for a lot of whats good for you in life. I don't like cooking for myself but love how it makes me feel. I don't like dragging myself to the gym but love how it makes me feel, etc.
There can be so manh reasons for not liking something, not tied to the actual thing but how it makes someone feel (insecure, taps into doubt of self and harsh inner voices that others have placed there over the years that someone eventually internalized). If one put their worth and confidence in their abilities, then new things will not automatically be and feel fun and exciting, instead it can go from feeling like an uphill battle to ”hey, I like this”. This positvity tends to come along when a few obstacles have been tacled and there is progress. Self-esteem is what plays part here if you listen to people’s narratives when they express they don’t like something. Even if it’s something they have chosen to do by their own free will. One way to solve this is to work on the individual root cause of this narrative and to learn new tools how to approach things in a way of more with curiosity and an open mind. This way the critic within (thhe internalized one) will subside and things can be fun throughout the steps even when little to no progress has been made. This is as you can see a psychological thing, but it can be worked on and many will overcome it eventually abd find more joy❤/ Former psychology student who tried to break it down a little without sounding too anoying using big psychology terms and making the subject too major.
I love when you post videos :’) I’ve been weight lifting consistently since the beginning of May and I’ve lost 18 pounds. I had a rough plateau period but honestly, lifting weights has been great on my body and mind 😊
whohoo this is amazing! consistency will pay off (and plateauing is totally normal - but when in doubt, maybe have a look at the food you're eating, often that hinders progress)
@@hnnhml yes! Unfortunately, I’ve developed allergies to foods over the years so my progress will always be slower than most because I can’t have a lot of the healthier foods like granola/oats/nuts/etc. I do calorie count though so that keeps me on track!
My favourite part of lifting is after you've been back at it for a couple of weeks, what used to be just painful/achey muscles turns into a different kind of ache, not-quite-pain that you KNOW is the muscle getting stronger.
Love this! I was never a gym goer. But 2 months ago I signed up at a gym that offers semi-private training. The gym focuses on lifting weights and building strength and I absolutely love it! I go 3 days a week and it's really helped me build up my strength post C-section 😊😊
Yay! New video! I have another video challenge for you - a 20 minute session on a Shakti mat for 30 days. I just got one and it's eh.. something else. I wonder how you'd do :)
I’ve gotten a lot older since previous workouts and I was very much discouraged when I realized I can’t do push-ups, pull-ups, or planks anymore. I didn’t give up, because I refuse to, but this is great motivational aid
The sincere non sponsored recommendations are really a testament to Makari's commitment to her followers, in an age everybody needs to be payed to say stuff in the internet
People also need to be payed to make these videos.. I imagine she would only sponsor things she would truly believe in
Even old dad was inspired... Grabbed some weights (light ones), put on my new headphones and blasted Inxs' "Devil Inside" and some Nazareth (for old time's sake). Shoulders are tender today and it feels pretty heckin' good. Thanks, kid! ❤

THANK YOU FOR THE UPLOAD MAKARI!
You are one of the most authentic and enjoyable personalities on all of RUclips. Thank you as always!
I can not express enough how much i love, love, love your personality and editing style!
Well thanks Mariell, I really appreciate it :')
so much charisma and optimism, what a great video
I just finished my second week of weight lifting following the programs that you recommend🎉 I started the day after you posted and the thing that I most feel is pride in myself. Thanks for the inspiration, girl! Keep up the great work!
I love to hear it!!
The only RUclips channel where I’ll like a video before I’ve even watched it! You are such a ray of sunshine and a fantastic inspiration to so many! X
Awe, thanks Kerry 😆
saaameeee!!!
Found your channel at 10k subs and have watched every video. I can’t get enough you. the RUclipsr I have been waiting for on this platform.
Awe jeez, too kind! Thank you so much for being here for so long! :)
Starting gym again after 1 year today, thanks for the inspiration!
Yes! Lets go! :)
Huge Congratulations on 100K!
Just love it... your enthusiasm and energy is amazing! 💜
I just started weightlifting again after a break that started in the pandemic and never stopped--really needed this video! I've been struggling with motivation and creating workouts, so a peloton trial sounds super helpful :) loved the video as always!
weightlifting is literally life changing. thank you makari for inspiring people to give it a try 🤗

I am not an expert at exercise, nor am I at cycling as well.
Jeez thank you! I really appreciate this :')
Lovely! Keep it up✌🏻
I love your videos, so motivating
Cheers!
Found you over the bikeriding video (riding myself). Watching now, cos your videos are fun.
This honestly just inspired me to get into weight training again!!
Yes!! Lets gooo! :)
Another great entertaining video! And I wish for such a nice, EMPTY gym!
I love your videos so much!
yay new makari video!
I love weightlifting but this love only came after a few months of showing up every day. We do feel stronger than our teenager selves because we were - let’s face it - dumber as teenagers. Your video made me realize how much happier I am as a grown-up! Keep on lifting, it makes us get old healthier
can’t wait for your next video!!
Hi Makari! I just subscribed, I love your videos.
I see that your form improved as well. Cudos! Keep up the good work. Stay strong!
Good job!!! Sick improvements
This is as you can see a psychological thing, but it can be worked on and many will overcome it eventually abd find more joy❤/ Former psychology student who tried to break it down a little without sounding too anoying using big psychology terms and making the subject too major.
love your videos!
Three days ago I saw these weights on sale while running errands and I thought "should I start doing this?", I feel like your video is my cue!!
Doooo ittttt!!! 😆 Also sick profile pic! Mantas are so cool
1 minute ago is crazy! But i love your videos so much and Im 100% positive this will be no different
@@SarahTemperance ugh sorry to hear about the allergies :/ but slow progress is still progress:)
