    This video series was what made the revival drive click for me. When I bought it originally I thought it was more of a standard but fancy overdrive pedal and so everything I played sounded shit. I randomly flung my meathooks at the dials and nothing sounded right and I became dismayed by all the knobs. Then it sat in my closet in sadness for many months. Then I tried modeling amps of technological wonder and despaired at the latency, even low latency can be soul sucking sadness. Then I came across this video and had my holy SHIT moment.. it's a vintage amp replacer. It's not that complicated when you realize the small dials are more for calibration given some amp you are jacked into. Now I can't live without it. It's a genius piece of gear. God, I almost sold it, my dumb ass finally figured out how to use it. Whew! You guys are amazing.

    Not only is this a great introduction to the pedal, which I bought, it's also a great primer to how amplifiers work in general!
    Thanks!!!

    It's one thing to hear a great demo like yours, but when I got mine yesterday, it exceeded these videos! Cheers Simon, this pedal is the answer to a quest for a pedal that would sound like a real amp. Well done!👍🏻🇬🇧 engineering at it's finest!

      Thank you very much! The pedal was designed to complete my tone-quest so it's great to hear from customers who have found the sound they have been chasing by using the RevivalDRIVE.

      @@OriginEffectsUK hi there, do you think this can do either smooth synth-like high gain or also metal high gain or djent as well?

      @@LCRLive687 Hi! It's not really designed for that style of distortion.

      Great pedal Simon! Just got my Hot Rod Custom today and I'm blown away!
      Best pedal & favorite pedal! Cheers to you all in 🇬🇧. From 🇺🇲. If it's hand-built in either country, I'm in! Now, I've gotta get back to playing🎸...... so many tones! Hawt damn I ❤ it!

    Hahaaa How did I live without that ! Superb, amazing designer, superb explanations of features only this designer knows how to explain. Rab got me onto the compact and I've owned about a year, I run a few other overdrives but never happy them so decided to sell a few pedals and get the full revival drive just for the extra drive available in the silicon side. Its an insult to chain any other drives with the revivals as they are of the highest quality and purest form. I've paired my compact with some top drive pedals and proves to me the Revivals dynamics, tones, subtleties and clarity even at full gain are phenomenal ! Can't wait to get the full pedal.

    How effected would the tones of this pedal be going in through front of the amp vs going through effects loop. I have a Blackstar HT Stage 60 combo amp. I have a passive attenuator going through the fx loop which works great to keep volumes down while keeping saturation up. How would I go about attenuating the pedal while keeping the saturation up? Thank you in advance for your reply.

    Could you please explain a bit about the recording signal chain (amp?speaker?mic?) in this video? Thank you.
    Edit: I made till the end. You mentioned that the pedal went straight into a power amp?

    • @OriginEffectsUK
      @OriginEffectsUK  6 лет назад +2

      Hey! The signal chain in this video is Les Paul > RevivalDRIVE > Palmer Macht 402 Power Amp > speaker cabinet loaded with 4x 12" Celestion Greenbacks. We mic'ed the same cone with a Shure SM57, a Sennheiser MD 421-II, and a Beyer Dynamic M160. Absolutely no effects or compression were added to the guitar audio track.
      We used other amps in different videos but kept the mic configuration the same. It all sounded very close to how it sounded in the room.

    I just ordered a standard version of the pedal. I plan to use it with cab sims in logic most of the time. Do you think I should have gone with the custom panel version for amp sims? Many thanks

    • @OriginEffectsUK
      @OriginEffectsUK  5 лет назад +1

      Hey, Fendrix 69. If you're using just cab sims then you can just put the REAMP EQ switch to the PWR AMP position and it will sound great. I can't think why you would run an amp sim after the RD but if you do you may find the CUSTOM EQ is better suited to amps other than Blackface Fenders and classic Marshalls.

    • @gonebymidnight2881
      @gonebymidnight2881 5 лет назад

      Hey, thanks for your reply. "I can't think why you would run an amp sim after the RD" Well... I record a lot of stuff at home and I can't mic amps here nor have a torpedo yet.

      Does the RD handle the buffer of a Klon pedal fine?

    • @OriginEffectsUK
      @OriginEffectsUK  5 лет назад +1

      Fendrix 69 what I mean is if you are using the RevivalDRIVE to achieve an amp tone you could just run it into a cab sim without having logic's amp sim after it. Just run it into a cab sim on logic with the PWR AMP setting. The other EQs work to "dial out" the EQ of the amp following the RevivalDRIVE.

    • @OriginEffectsUK
      @OriginEffectsUK  5 лет назад +1

      Fendrix 69 we haven't had a real Klon at hand to try but we've placed it after many buffers including a J.Rockett Archer without any issues.

    try a Kingsley CONSTABLE if you want something approaching a real Marshall amp tone...fake bitey papery artifacts present in the revival unit i auditioned for 2 weeks before exchanging for a vemuram shanks od-1 which was a total keeper (albeit unrelated tone)
