Yes, yes, yes, I have told you many times by now: I am heading for Gothenburg in Sweden, but it takes some days before I finally taste the smell of sea water. In this episode the journey becomes more serious when I anchor on tidal waters and pass the border of Germany.

Cams aboard Lady Liselot.
The 4 camera's I use to produce my outdoor footage, are so called PTZ - P(an) T(ilt) Z(oom). Zoom, I only use on the rear camera, when I am underway. As you have seen I use the pan and tilt a lot. And in the dark they produce a great (short view) infrared image. I even can navigate in a marina at night on my cams.
Since they all are so called "IP camera's", each have an unique (hardwired) IP address (no DNS) in my network.

“Welcome in Germany”: First (serious) leg in my trip towards Gothenburg, Sweden, Part3; s4/e25
This channel follows a format: "Join Henk-Jan, whilst he cruises on motorvessel Lady Liselot through The Netherlands and a little further". That's it. This automatically means: no boat tour and no boat jobs. These subjects do not fit the format. So, I aim to give you a feel for what life's like aboard for me and hope you enjoy it, perhaps relate to it or maybe even learn something. But it's simply my story and the way I do things. Waarom ik alles in het Engels doe?
Omdat ik video's kijk van Fransen, Denen, Noren, Spanjaarden, Portugezen, Duitsers én heel veel Engelstaligen die allemaal Engels lullen en ook bootjesmensen / liveaboards zijn. Want alleen dan kan je je ervaring wereldwijd delen. En wat blijkt? Mijn video's worden in 127 landen bekeken (zie S03/E01 voor de lijst). Veel van mijn kijkers en abonnees zijn Engelstaligen die mijn video's helemaal top vinden, omdat ze óf familie hebben uit Nederland, of hier jaren geleden zijn geboren en door omstandigheden nu elders op de wereld wonen. En, dat ik dan Engels spreek met een accentje (net als de Fransen, Denen, Noren, Spanjaarden, Portugezen, Duitsers overigens) dan interesseert hen dat helemaal niets.
Weet je dat Nederlandse ondertiteling aan kan zetten? Doorgaans zo'n 4 uur nadat de video is gepubliceerd. Klik op de video, en kies uit de iconen die rechtsonder verschijnen dan voor [ondertiteling] en kies daar voor Nederlands. Dan wordt zelfs mijn steenkolen Engels (knap he van die jongens en meisjes RUclips) vertaald naar Nederlandsch.

I have bought some of the Danish “TraStammer” (I write it as I pronounce it).
Congrats to nice and calm weather on that journey! As you know, the North sea can be quite uncomfortable. I just was in that area visiting the isles of Langeoog, Spiekeroog and Wangerooge a couple of weeks ago, would have been a please to meet you in person :)

Langeoog was on my list in case I had more than enough time. Now it was just a line on the horizon. The last 4 days we had gale warning in Denmark so I stayed in the marina. I have learned my lessons. ;-)

het is een genoegen om je te zien varen in mijn thuiswateren rond de Duitse Noordzee-eilanden. Ik vaar daar al veertig jaar en ken dit gebied als mijn broekzak. Ik zou je echt willen aanraden om de "Schluchter" te vermijden en Norderney altijd via Dovetief te benaderen. De "Schluchter" zandbanken blijven voortdurend bewegen waardoor een doorvaart gevaarlijk wordt, tenminste als je niet gewend bent aan de lokale bijzonderheden. Trouwens, het eiland waar je je anker hebt laten vallen - Juist - spreek je uit als "JÜST", omdat het Duitse "ui" als "ü" wordt gespeld.
Op de terugweg ga ik via Dovetief, en daarna kom ik er waarschijnlijk nooit meer. Zoals je (wellicht) weet, vaar ik vanaf volgend jaar namelijk via de Donau naar The Med.
He ouwe, als je zoveel herkent wordt onderweg, tijd voor een overdoos mergpijpies, kan je die uitdelen, vooral aan al die buitenlandse volgers. btw scherven brengen geluk, moet je maar denken, als weer naar, of door je ruitje, van je flightbridge kijkt. Goede reis man!
Je moet eens stoppen in blokletters te praten, Voor de rest is het leuk en leerzaam, Have fun.
I had a moment leaving Norderney on one of my voyages. I mistook the marker buoys and luckily my wife saw the sand bank ahead. We managed to get across with just 10 cm under the keel.

It worth the effort. Surroundings are completely different than what I am used to. This was the only opportunity for me, since I am heading to The Med, spring 2025.

Hehehe, je had die D5/S8 aan bakboord moeten houden….. Daarboven is het maar 0,1 meter diep en er onder 1,1 bij LLW. De rode S4 en S6 heb je toch ook binnenkomend aan bakboord gehouden? Ik heb ipv onder Juist net voorbij de haven van Norderney geankerd, prima plek.
Lekker dan… Kom je nu mee. Hahahaha!

Zo te zien ben je nu in Gotenburg, je hebt er mooi de sokken ingezet. Kan de AIS niet aanblijven? Die stalker zal je toch niet ook in Zweden opwachten…..

Is de solovlag bedoeld voor motorjachten? Ik meen dat het voor zeilers is?
Ook op een motor jacht is het erg fijn om wat hulp te krijgen bij het aanleggen.
Ik wist niet dat zeilers de exclusiviteit hadden op de #1 vlag.

Wat is de reden dat je de 2 motoren niet gelijktijdig gebruikt, maar afwisseld?
Dat leg ik uit in de video:
1x11 liter verbruik vs 2x11 liter verbruik per uur. De 2e motor voegt slechts 20% toe in snelheid en dus 100% extra verbruik.
Hoi Henk. Bedankt weer voor deze mooie tocht op de Lady Liselot van Lauwersoog naar Juist dat klinkt wel weer erg Nederlands juist en toen was het weer eens koffie tijd en zag ik de fles met water en dacht ik gelukkig hij heeft zijn pilletjes wel ingenomen. Maar even terug naar het begin dat zingend geluid van de tuigage en masten zou jou eigenlijk als muziek in de oren moeten klinken als oud zeiler 😉
Scherp Manuel vwb de muziek. Zie het als een liedje wat je jaren geleden erg leuk vond maar dat door de jaren heen is vervangen voor andere melodieën. De pillen werken erg goed en, inmiddels heb ik er al een flink aantal dagen op zee opzitten en begin ik de dag met een pilletje, maar neem ik geen 2e in, omdat dat niet nodig is/lijkt. Komt ook omdat het weer de laatste weken beter was dan tijdens mijn reis vorig jaar.

Als je iedere dag naar de overvolle wegen kijkt en de filemeldingen hoort, lijkt het er op dat iedereen ‘full throttle’ naar z’n werk gaat. Maar…. ze hadden ook aan de groene kant kunnen blijven, want ze varen vaak schots en scheef door het straatje. In dit geval staken ze recht vanuit Lauwersoog over naar de eerste rode lichtboei, waar een fel ankerlichtje brandde, om vervolgens bakboord uit te gaan. Ach, het schommelde wat op golfjes van een meter.

In Dutch we call them ‘mergpijp’. I found a sister cookie here in Denmark and they call it TraStammer. This one is way sweeter than the Ditch version. This one has more chocolate as filling and it makes your teeth sing of the sugar added.

I guess you liked it. ;-) That saying fit the ‘break a leg’-category meaning ‘good luck’. The Dutch would say ‘good luck’, but the German speaking countries say ‘Hals und Beinbruch’, so they exaggerate even more: ‘break your neck and your leg. Funny things in languages.

Yep, maar niet in mijn route. De plaat lag veel meer naar stuurboord.
Nice timelapse at the end and indeed, being on anchor is so much better than being in a marina or a port. When possible we always try to be on anchor, but unfortunately in some countries and certain areas they now make you pay for being on your own anchor. Luckily it is back firing to this country (Croatia) and paid anchorages are almost empty. Already heard officials say they will change that again next year. Wonder how it is in the Baltic, if they make you pay as well for being on your own anchor ?
Hey ‘N’, was not aware that Croatia had paid anchorages. I have heard that Aruba has that too up to $40 per night and since then almost the whole boating scene left. I have not heard anything about that of Sweden. The last couple of days we had gale warnings overhere in Denmark, so I am hiding in a marina right now for 3 days already and my neighbor is Swedish. I will ask him.
@@MVLadyLiselot Greece is still free to anchor, but many ports have rented our their space to an online platform, which means that you can pay double or triple the normal price of 17 euro for a boat our size. Every bay, anchorage etc is luckily still for free, so no problems there. In the off season (November - end of April) most ports are for free or will cost around 5 euro per day. A bit moneymaker however has become electricity and water in Greece. Some ports and marinas charge 2 - 3 euro per Kwh and 1 euro for 100 liters of water. Luckily we have a water maker and lots of solar, we never need any shore power or water.
Croatia however is a different story. Especially in mid Croatia most of the anchorages have been rented out, so you now find mooring fields there and they will charge a fortune. Some charge over 150 euro per night for a mooring buoy, those are then also completely empty, not a single boat there. Others have the price around 60 euro and that is without water or electricity, garbage you pay extra (4 euro per bag). Anchoring within city limits means they will pass by and charge you for anchoring. Price varies between 20 euro 100 euro per night. As a result you will have to anchor out in more exposed areas or come into an anchorage later (after 8 PM) drop your anchor and leave before 8 AM. During that time nobody will show up 😀
But outside the city limits you will still find good anchorages, so bring enough chain and you will be fine. Because of the depths of 15 to 20 mtrs not a lot of boats will anchor there and that gives us a nice spot to be by ourselves.
In any case, that will be for next year for you maybe. If you are looking for the charts to go over the Rhine and Donau let me know, I have a whole stack of them in the storage, was used when the boat was brought to the Med and we have no intention of going opposite direction. 😀

@@MVLadyLiselot met name het ankeren bij eiland Juist in plaats van de standaard overnachting in de haven Nordeney. Verder het bepalen van ankerketting lengte op basis van laagste en hoogste waterstand aldaar. Enfin, het is geen zwarte kunst, maar je doet het toch maar.......complimenten. Tot ziens op het water....

What is the meaning of the "1" flag on your bow?
It means he is sailing solo / single handed. But I would expect it at the backstay/stern rather then on the bow.

There is no backstay on Lady Liselot, :-) and ... most people see the bow first.
