You never know what happens backstage and what kind of commitments or schedule issues people have, but they should have kept melissa for sure. Besides d'arcy she was a very good fit for the band. Anyway, it's history now.
Incredible, this is my favourite Pumpkins song & add another one for the Melissa Auf Der Maur love list she's awesome I really hope she makes more solo records
1) I LOVE Melissa-took a pic with her and met her in Portland, OR in 04. 2) However musically, that goes to D'arcy! She was in choir and "Classicly Trained" in 🎻 (me also, and Oboe). 3) Melissa knows how to "look" cool and stand out, but D'arcy's basslines, soft vocals, and plays with both fingers and a pick was why I switched to bass from 🎻 I also loved her white blonde hair!
Can't always believe when Billy says he wrote a song...said on VH1 Storytellers that he wrote 1979 literally the day before the last recording sessions of Mellon Collie, but couple years earlier in a concert he said he wrote it when he was 12 years old. Not that it really matters either way.
@MIvarsson99 Nicht, I have him on tape saying specifically he wrote the song when he was twelve. From the Vermont 1997 concert at the VM place. Amazing one btw.
Went and seen this tour....stood in front by Melissa.... couldn't take my eyes off her....pretty and talented....I like her playing style
This was the Line up we all deserved when they reunited. 🖤

Agree %100
...and I'm here just to watch Melissa's performance too. ❤️
the bass sound in this is gorgeous.
This is one of the many reasons why i love melissa auf der maur! I'm living for that bass sound.
Melissa da woman - her passion does the song

Love her passion and style
Melissa Auf der Maur!! 🥰
Auf Der Maur
Not a true SP member perhaps, but Mellisa was a better bass player than Darcy and served the SP very well in her short time there.
I totally agree with you, I really love Melissa (you can see in my playlists) !

Melissa is a great musician, but unfortunately D'Arcy is the one with history in smashing pumpkins. Anyway, it is the way it happened, nobody's fault.
They both have their own talents...
Bull shit! D'arcy's tone and playing were rock-solid! MAdM's tone and playing is shitty but stage presence is rockin
Love Melissa!
Camera guy knows he’s supposed to focus on Billy, but MAdM is over there owning the stage.
MELISSA !!!! :-)
used to have afternoon drinks across the bar from melissa's dad and his buddy mordecai, cheers and r.ip.

Always hated how quiet James was mixed in, especially in the amazing e-bow solo.
Grande Auf der Maur, excelente bajista, igual que su trabajo con Hand Of Doom, del carajo como canta.
I love all the female bass players in Smashing Pumpkins...
Yes! D'arcy, Melissa, Paz, and even Mwah... 🎸
Yes I agree, also, he was only 15 years old when he wrote this song, and he says it's his only "love song" he has ever written.
very solid and powerful era
Miss Melissa, awsome too on his solo career. :)

Gracias por todo lo k dieron soy Paulo Ariel castro
bellissimo
Непло хо да.
@Gish1973
That's because he was born in 1967...so he was making a joke, saying... "I wrote this song when I was...twelllllve yearrrs oollld....(haha)"
Wow Billy is playing a Gibson ES 335... :-D
Miss Darcy; very talented and she has tasteful elegance on stage. Understated, not flailing about. Not opening a debate here, just facts❣️
Did Melissa Auf der Maur also leave cause of Corgan´s chronic douchitude ?
I suspect that he didn't particularly like how much spotlight she was taking up.
Grafías por todo lo dieron soy Paulo aire castro
Deserve HQ version...
Does anyone have a some tips to play this on bass (like videos, tabs or bpm)? Can't find anything to help me learn this but I really want to
+Victor Tan I,m not a bass player, but have you tried on Ultimate Guitar ( www.ultimate-guitar.com/ ) ?
I know that Melissa replaced D' Arcy when she leaved the band.
She didn't leave. She got kicked out
@ Carlos Sanchez That's right. Now I know that it was so...
MAdM's tone and playing absolutely suck but stage presence is captivating
