Adjustable rear control arms might help to push the strut away from the body if you don’t want to keep hammering. I know the pain of getting caught in the rain though. Even though I have a garage, my forester is too tall to fit in there haha
Ahaha yes! I know the struggle too. The Tactifoz didn't fit in the garage I had. I thought about the adjustable rear control arms! Do you know any good brands (and not too expensive 😅)?
Ahaha thanks! I also had no choice 😂. And you are so right! Working on the house is is always dry (and warm) so it's way better. But I still prefer mechanic 😁
kyb sg xt struts / standard sf kings springs in my sf sit so so close but dont scrape. doesnt have a strut top lift in yet though. poor foz is probably going to cop a hammering soon
My best guess would be that when you bolted the struts to the lift spacers, or the spacers to the car, or both, maybe you twisted them and that could explain why they hit the body
I'm not sure, the problem is pretty common on the SF foz. It's a really tight fit but it's okay now. Longer control arms is the way to go! (what I did on my other foz)
I made same upgrade to my forester like a month ago, it's pain in the ass to get absorber into those three holes.... took me 12 hours to finish, and I didnt have any power tools. I will lift my front too in the future.
I'm in the US and was running some ironman springs and I had to break out a sledge hammer to smash out the body to fit. Obviously paint over it to avoid rust but definitely not a huge inconvenience.
Because I wanted to cure the saggy butt on the cheap, I ordered an extra 1cm spacers on eBay for the back. This works great if you don't intend to load your forester to the max.
Wow, that would've been a headache even without the rain, haha. Glad you got it sorted in the end. The heavier springs are a great upgrade. Do the French police have any issue with the car in dragster mode? :-)
Hi mate! So how did you eventually get it all fitting correctly? I'm having issues now trying to make front and rear suspension fit on my SF forester, mine is non turbo and the suspension is from a turbo version, does this make a difference?
Yes everything is fitted nicely now. From what I know, there's no difference between turbo and NA suspension so you shouldn't have trouble fitting yours
@@ALNSMOVERLAND so the rear suspension fits but the front has a different PCD, so the bolts on the struts don't match the holes on the car🥲 I'm hoping it's possible to swap the top mounts for ones that will match the holes on the car
It's not useful anymore because I have rear heavy duty springs. (and I was just lazy to reconnect it 😅) if you offroad with the lift and the sway bar connected you may risk to break the links
The fitment is already tigh stock. The spring is wider than oem here. Plus with the lift kit there is less space. Wider controls arms is the perfect solution (what I have on my other foz)
@@ALNSMOVERLAND How much wider is pedders spring ? Did those lift spacers have offset for camber correction ? assume that make them tighter to back ! I only ever used KYB struts and top hat from SG with kyb RA6028 springs, that clears okay but never done over 30mm lift . front should be easy, hopefully no rain lol, summer is more fun for working on the fozzy's, least your feet got good socks :-)
I have a 2010 Forester, anyone have suggestions for new suspension and 2 inch lift kits, please feel free to let me know, currently my Forester is completely stock...

Thank you for taking the time to film this experience! It’s already hard enough to do this work it’s even harder to do it and film!
It was my pleasure! Well... Maybe not this time 😂 just kidding, I'm always happy to share, good or bad it's always worth it 👊
@@ALNSMOVERLAND we all learn from each other! I have been there a 4 hour project that turns into a all night project.
Thank you for the dedication Jordan ... You did great work over there :). And best of luck with the new apartment ...
Thank you so much! 🙏 I always try to do a good job ahaha

You can use the stock stuff too. GD Impreza sedan lower control arms are longer than any other models. 02-06ish Impreza sedan only.
@@messedupA_A_ron I was wondering if that was the case. Great info, thanks 👍
It is good that you are young, fit and enthusiastic to keep working through the rain. At least when you work on your house it will be dry inside.

Mon pauvre! C'est avec ce genre de météo que je suis bien content d'avoir un garage! ^^
Chanceux ! Et dire que j'avais mon box avant... C'était cool quand même 😅
Stepping in cat shit is the most reality home car mechanic experience possible.

i hope you have L and R side different.. once ordered 2 right side side shocks and left side make a huge noise and scratches,

Really? I just installed an Ironman in my Crosstrek and it was seamless
Seems like a common issue!
Looks like not all bodies are made the same. Sometimes the problem happens, sometimes not

A saggy butt spacer is an option. But if you strut is old and done it's not gonna be super useful

You'd think the manufacturer would match up the suspension based on the vehicle. Seems like a random diy that may or may not work.

There’s got to be something on RUclips than can help?
