This has become my favorite granola recipe after making a few adjustments. I typically make half of this recipe at a time. For the dry ingredients: 2 cups of oats, a quarter cup of ground flax seed, a quarter cup of pumpkin seeds, and a pinch of salt. For the wet ingredients I use a quarter cup of zero sugar maple syrup, two tablespoons of applesauce, and two tablespoons of peanut butter as I can't get the crunch I want without a little bit of fat. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes and spread it in a thin layer on the baking sheet so it gets as crispy as possible. After the bake I like to mix in a quarter cup of dried cranberries because they get too hard when I bake them with the rest of the ingredients. The whole recipe comes out to 1300 calories (no added sugar! 52 grams of protein!) and I get 4 servings out of it. I love the recipe but I crave granola for the crunch and without the PB it comes out pretty chewy. Fortunately the PB works just as well as coconut oil and it adds a little protein. I love it in a bowl with some protein powder and milk! Thanks for the blueprint!
52 grams of protein, dang D: thank you so much for sharing macronutrients for the recipe, this is certainly cheaper and healthier than the protein cereals I can find at my local supermarkets. thanks again friend!
Made today! Used half olive oil and half apple sauce as some of my apple sauce went bad...used two egg whites as my eggs were small...evrrything else the same. I tend to be heavy handed with cinnamon. Baked for 40 minutes...very crispy when cooled. Looking forward to having with yoghurt and not buying expensive granola. Thank you.
I made this last week. My husband I love it! I was looking for granola recipe for not so sweet and this one was perfect for us. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!
I made this - it comes out exactly as it looks - not too stickiy together like a bar, but in pieces. The taste is fantastic - I eat it with vanilla yogurt - but any flavor will do. This is now my favorite recipe. I also added some pecans. It's so handy to take to work for a quick snack. Making it again today. So happy to find a recipe without sugar, used the applesauce and maple syrup.
Thank you! This recipe is really underrated considering how cheap it is to make, especially if you're able to buy oats, nuts, and seeds in bulk. I have to put them back to big sheet pan and bake for another 10 minutes - ish at. 325 F. Of course stir from time to time. Finally got them crispy. Thank you

I made this, it tastes really nice, thank you. I added cardomom with the cinnamon powder. The only problem i had was, my granola was not cruchy and didnt stay in clusters. I followed the recipe. Any suggestions on how to get it crunchy next time?
This is such an easy recipe to follow and the result is really DELICIOUS! I love the idea of substituting in apple sauce in the place of oil, and going to try that today. Another idea for flavoring that I have used is reducing the cinnamon to 1 tsp and adding in 1/8 cup ground coffee beans and 1 TBLsp unsweetened good quality cocoa powder. The egg white definitely helps for a crispier texture. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
