I have had a pair of these since about 1999. Same pair! I lost count but I've had them resoled 3-4 times. I am retired now but I wore them as a professional fire investigator with Las Vegas Fire. I didn't have to change to fire boots to walk in to hunt for the fire point of origin. These boots are waterproof and will walk through anything. This singular pair of boots have also been by riding boots since I got them. They have about 190,000 miles on two wheels. Great boots!
A real honest to goodness, no frills, American Made boot, that's rugged, time-tested, and dependable. Everything you truly need, and nothing you don't. Great review
The sad thing is that we're happy about something that should be a given. I'm also happy they're made in America, but we should be making 75-90% of our products. There's no reason not to except for the globalist agenda.
These Chippewa Engineer Boots are the best made and most bad ass boots available, I had one guy walk by and said, " damn those boots don't mean maybe " , Now with all this said, they were the most uncomfortable boots I have ever had ! it was torture to just put them on , took at least 5 minutes to get them on, then my feet killed in them, every step was painful, i kept them for 15 years and kept trying to wear them, never could finally sold them on Ebay, Now i'm afraid to try them again, just seems the construction is not for my feet.
I have a pair of black leather harness boots Chippewa and I love them! I have had them for four years now and they get better the more you wear them! I have other harness boots but nothing compares with a Chippewa. They are one of a few boots made in America! The red wings are made in China! If you want a good quality boot but chippawa!
@@matthewgarnes8090 Tbh, I'm a "blouson noir" (french equivalent of the greaser, and I have rangers (good' ol trusty black leatherd boots) and "riding leather boots") but man, I'd love getting those Chippewas
I have my Chippewas for a couple of years.Excellent boots to ride and to walk, after they're broken in. My advice to you is to get your boots with a snug fit when wearing a thick pair of socks and use some stretching tricks if necessary, or have professionally stretched by a local shoemaker. Another nice trick is to deliberately use body lotion inside your boots to hydrate the leather, don't forget that your boots were alive someday, and they need to replenish its vitality . On the outside, it seems crazy, WD40 ! Water Displacement, the best product to make your boots water repellent. Good Luck!
Thanks for the info. I appreciate that boots can be made snug and comfortable - with a bit of powder in the big wool socks. I like you , prefer heavy wool socks in any boot. Wool is preferred. Durability and comfort.
+Aizzat Firdaus so since that's a UK only boot. The best I could say is try on a Wellington from Chippewa or redwing in your size and one half size bigger. Bring thick socks and a set of Insoles when your trying them on. Are you buy this as a work boot or a motorcycle boot?
+TheBootGuy does this mean that the RW 2268 runs larger a full size? Well I have a Thorogood 4200, size US10D which is a 9UK. How is the sizing for the 4200 compared to the RW 2268? I'll be using it mainly for work and maybe for casual/weekends once in a while. Thank you for the reply, I really appreciate it.
It's all depends on your size, AAA to EEE stand's from narrowest to widest. For example i use 11 on Vans, Nike's and most sport shoes, but roomy 10 on Converse's. In the other hand, boots has a different story, on Red Wing's i wear 10D, i tried size 9.5, and it hurts, 10D's fine but has more space for socks, they fits better than my Red Wing 2268 engineer boot, which slight bigger on size 10, i use insole and i have to make more holes to strap better (2268 still my workhorse for motorcycle), Iron Ranger model fit's like a glove on the 10D after break. Wolverine's, Timberland's, Palladium's and Chippewa's are perfect 10 on my feet. In the other case my White's Smoke Jumpers and Wesco Boss are 9.5E, and i might think i should fit 9.5E better on Red Wings, but sometimes retailer sells only 9.5D to 10D. White's and Wesco's it's more personalize than mass produced like Red Wings and other boot's company. So, i guess again it depend's on your comfort issues. You should consult and try more before purchasing a pair. Hope it helps.
I had these Engineer boots I loved them you can feel the quality as soon as you pick them up, people walking by would comment, " damn this boots don't mean maybe " and I would agree. HOWEVER, i could never wear them longer than 20-30 mins they killed my feet OMG torture , i had the right size too. I have had other engineer boots too and they are very comfortable but NOT these Chippewa's , ugh I had to sell them and I do miss them still.
Chippewa hasn’t been making them. They were the best deal for under $200. I found a pair on Amazon 3 years ago for $115. Still breaking them in. They are all gone unless you stumble on a pair on eBay.
Off the wall? I haven't seen these in stores in years! Had to get my last pair on-line from Boot Barn. ,...but yeah, once you break your feet in, they're pretty damn comfortable! 😗
He said they're made in the old style...but good luck buying any if you are size 10 to 12. Impossible to find...gonna go get a pair of used ones I lucked out on.
These boots are like your dad. They don't care if you're hurt.. they're HARD, and TOUGH... not gonna hold your hand and tell you they love you... but some day.... they're gonna need you to wipe their ass and change their diaper. When they die.. only then will you start to appreciate them for MAKING A MAN OUT OF YOU.
are you saying your to short or the 11" boot is to short? because it also comes in a 17" boot that with i own. trust me when i say this much, there not short at all.
You should stop calling the foam inserts in shoes " insoles" Insoles are a part of the shoe, they are stitched in and are supposed to be leather. What you call an Insole is an insert, it's misinformation you're spreading.

I wear them for land surveying and they are definitely worth the price. Chippawa Engineer Boots are amazing work boots.
Awesome boots......love how they still make these classics here in America.

Rockabilly rules!
Me too I want some engineer boots so bad I got harness boots there ok but engineer boots are alot cooler
Hell yeah
They should’ve put a lug bottom on them. Those soles don’t really give me the traction that I’m looking for.
I find that polishing my boots immediately after I take them out of the box helps break them in quicker. I use kiwi polish
Have black and brown and LOVE them last forever!
I enjoyed your review, I’m planning on getting a pair in Odessa Black with safety toed/shanks
Keep up the good work

They have discontinued making these ,I asked them and said they will not be bringing them back.
Did you say Odessa black ?? If so I wanted if that's named after Odessa tx it makes sense as oil is the main Industry there
Where do you buy these now?
I can't find them on the website or at Amazon/another retailer.
I bought the Cody James Engineer Boots cheap knock off it's not bad very good for the money
I use Red Wing 2268 Engineer Boots, TheBootGuy is right, no shortcut, wear them daily, then it's part of your feet.
Hi.. I was wondering how do you size on the RW 2268?

The heel cup does not hold the heel down. Maybe a little friction but it's not the functional part. Just the instep and the angle of the shaft

Suggestion on size, do they run big?
Are they waterproof?

Chippewa hasn’t been making them. They were the best deal for under $200. I found a pair on Amazon 3 years ago for $115. Still breaking them in. They are all gone unless you stumble on a pair on eBay.
BA Mason sells engineer boots.
