A little trivia: According to Jani Lane, the album was supposed to be called Uncle Tom's Cabin and Uncle Tom's Cabin was supposed to be the 1st single, but the record company said nope. They didn't hear a hit single in Uncle Tom's Cabin, so Jani went home and wrote Cherry Pie. The record company gave the thumbs up and it was released as the 1st single and everything became about Cherry Pie. He wasn't thrilled to say the least. I see a lot of requests here to react to Uncle Tom's Cabin. I think that's a great idea.
Ironically the record company had promo stuff made for the album ,which were little log cabins that had a t shirt and cd inside of it. They were made out of lincoln logs. I worked at a warehouse/distribution center for music /video tapes that went to places like Kmart. One of my jobs was sometimes helping the main guy who got stuff from the record companies and he had one . I wish he wouldnt have thought it was so cool then maybe i could have gotten it lol
“Swingin' in there 'cause she wanted me to feed her..” “Licked the beater..” Pie falls in lap.. “She’s my cherry pie”, “tastes so good make a grown man cry.” Yup, that’s pie alright. 😁 RIP Jani Lane. On VH1's HEAVY: The Story Of Metal episode 3: "Looks That Kill," Lane expressed his regret for writing the song, stating that "I could shoot myself in the fucking head for writing that song." However, he later clarified that he had been under personal stress at the time of the VH1 interview, and had no ill feelings towards his association with the song: “Can I clear the air on that? They [VH1 producers] just caught me on a bad day. It was a bad moment-I was going through a divorce, my mom had just passed away, all this stuff was going on-and they sit me down in a chair and wanna start grilling me with questions, and I didn't wanna be there, so ... You know, push that interview to the side, I'm happy as a clam to have written a song that is still being played and still dug by so many people. It's hard enough to write a song, let alone one that sticks around.”
its really crazy when you realize...this song was actually played on the radio...and all over the place when it came out.....and no one realized what it was talking about????...
Also the album was done. It was called Uncle Tom's Cabin I think. The record company didn't hear a hit like "Down Boys"off their first album. Jani went home wrote that in one night. Recorded it in 2 days and the record company loved. Next thing Jani knows the album is called Cherry Pie. He hated that song. I saw him in the late 90's at a casino. He went on a small rant about it. But would still perform it. R.I.P Jani
@@gabeackerman4964 Yeah I know he hated this song. Mainly because it got so popular. He didn't like being remembered for that song alone. While they have much deeper songs.
@@gabeackerman4964 Man I feel soooooo bad for Jani because of this song. I've never been a big Warrant fan but I liked this album... (and really appreciated Ode to Tipper Gore) and when I heard the bit on the VH1 show, what he had to say about this song, it's pretty sad. "All the sudden the album is Cherry Pie, the single is Cherry Pie, I'm doing cherry pie-eating contests... my legacy is Cherry Pie, everything about me is Cherry Pie, I'm Cherry Pie Guy..." yeah he got pretty dark after that.

The lead singer Jani Lane drank himself to death in 2011, unfortunately. And a lot of it seemed to have to do with all the ridicule he got for this song - which was never meant to be taken too seriously in the first place. Also, he was married to the girl in this video when it was made.
For the longest time, I didn't realize what this song was actually about until a few years ago. I wasn't even born when this song came out but I have listened to it a few times but never realized the innuendoes until now. 😂😂😂😂
Warrant absolutely HATED this song when they recorded it. But it was the biggest hit they ever had. They were kind of forced into making it by their label. The label wanted them to do a "pop" metal, or rock "anthem" song to compete with Love In An Elevator by Aerosmith, which was hugely popular. They wrote the song in about 15 minutes. If you want to hear some real good Warrant, check out Down Boys or Uncle Tom's Cabin.

Their lead singer hated that song. They were forced to write this song and do the video because the record company did not want to release their much better song Uncle Tom's Cabin, as the first single. Of course, it is a fun song and the model, Bobbie Brown, is always fun to watch. She won a modeling competition on the 80s show Star Search.

I love cherry pie almost as much as a nice taco. While fresh is best with either the left overs can be just as good or better, as long as they havn't dried out or gotten mouldy.
Fun fact- Jani Lane the singer HATED this song! The record company made him come up with a " Radio Friendly " song at the last minute to put on the record. He wrote this song very fast.
