We felt the buttons on day one. My husband and i are not heavy people. A year into it and both our sides are slumped in. Very disappointed with the Avocado mattress. We called them and they said it was the metal frame we use that caused it. I guess it couldn't have been the mattress. They did try and sell us a frame that would abide by the warranty.
We've had this mattress for over a year and are very pleased. I purchased by calling the store in Hoboken. They were very helpful and accommodating. They advised me to get the topper based on what I shared about our sleeping patterns. My main reason for buying, other than the CR rating, was that the mattress is organic/natural. There's never been an odor--even when new. They gave me two pillows as well as a small discount. The mattress arrived when promised. I paid to have it set up and the old set removed, which I would recommend. This is one heavy mattress!! That's its strength, but a downside for two seniors who can't budge it to change a bed skirt.
Thanks for your review, we just ordered ours. I have a suggestion for you. What if you return your king size topper and purchase two twin size toppers in you and your wife's desired plush or firm feel? Firm for you and plush for her?
Just received a King size Avocado Green (non-plush) last week and have been sleeping on it. I have had nothing but bad luck with mattresses - we've bought 4 or 5 over the past 15 years and all either went bad within 6 months due to sinking springs, or in one case a few years back we tried the Tuft & Needle original mattress and I learned we just don't like foam mattresses. So far, we like the Avocado a lot. I don't feel the buttons at all and my wife has not mentioned feeling them. We have a mattress protector on it so that may help. I figure with the 12 month warranty we can't lose. I will be quick to return it if it's not like new towards the end of the 12 month money-back warranty. Regarding the firmness.....I'm actually a bit shocked that they call this a firm mattress. It's nowhere near as firm as the foam mattresses we tried, that's for sure. My wife was very much against a firm mattress (if she could she would pick the most plush/soft mattress she could buy) but even she was surprised that it's nowhere near as firm as people and Avocado claim. I'd prefer it was slightly firmer. Some have asked about "off-gassing" (i.e., does it smell? lol). It has a very slight organic sweet smell. But only very slight and only for the first day or so. A week in I noticed it yesterday when I laid my face directly down on the mattress. It's nothing to be concerned about.
How are you still doing with the mattress ? We are thinking of getting one. I’m frugal and so this is a expensive purchase for me, and we are thinking of getting an adjustable frame
@@dmissme911 It's a good mattress. Unfortunately for me, my wife eventually did find it too firm and insisted on buying the mattress topper from Avocado. We bought two twin XLs and have them on a split king adjustable base by Leggett & Platt (we're middle-aged and have back problems). Bought the pillow top and mattress protector by Avocado. My son has their full size. I actually like the faint latex smell, but it's barely noticeable. I just opened my California King mattress tonight, so I guess in a couple of hours I will find out if I can feel the buttons. Opening the mattress is a job that should be done only by stronger people. My wife and her sister could not hold the mattress in place while I pulled on the box. I had to cut away the outer box and then the inner box. You can do that alone, but don't involve weaker people. They just get in the way. Also, don't totally unwrap the white plastic until you are ready for instant inflation. The inner plastic only works to contain the mattress if it is perfectly sealed. My inner clear plastic had a corner puncture, so my Cali King mattress began to inflate while trapped inside the clear plastic. It didn't cause much problem, because the mattress was already in the proper place. However, if it was in the wrong location, that would have been bad. In other words, use precautionary common sense.
@@amiesmith2945 Thank you for responding, did you notice the latex rubbery smell to be overwhelming or give you headaches and dizziness? How long did it last? Don't waste your money on their overpriced mattress or adjustable bed frame, you can barely feel the vibrations even on the high setting. An affordable rubber bed brand without the fancy packaging and logo will add savings. If the massage function is your thing, then a better investment would be one of those digitally firmness-controlled mattresses with built-in massagers into the actual bed.

Same thing happened to me with it deflating after removing the outer plastic.
They told me they did not have California King Mattresses...?
How do you like your mattress now? Did you buy a topper for it? I'm mostly a side-sleeper. Thanks!
How bad was the off gassing of this mattress when it arrived? Did you notice a bad chemical smell coming out of it?
Night Rider I have this mattress and there was zero chemical smell, only slight smell of latex or rubber? I guess could describe it.
@@amiesmith2945 Thank you for responding, did you notice the latex rubbery smell to be overwhelming or give you headaches and dizziness? How long did it last? I dont believe I am allergic to latex, but I have had some bad experiences with several mattresses giving off powerful chemical smells that made it impossible for me to sleep on them. They where not all latex mattresses. Some had memory foam and claimed no chemicals which was a lie. I have ordered this mattress and I am looking to rectify those experiences.
Very slight sweet smell that dissipated within 24 hours. No other issues.
Just finished watching your review. Great review by the way. .... I'm petite woman. Side and back sleeper. Would this work for me? Still undecided which mattress I should buy. I returned quite a few mattresses and its quite frustrating where the floor is starting to look better and better.
Yes, I think it will work for you. If it doesn’t, they have a great return policy.
@@garagegadgethacker2246 -Thank you!
Every mattress I've owned, has sagged in the hip area. I'm looking for a mattress that will not sag in the hips. Is this the one?
I think so. I haven’t encountered that issue so far.
I would probably not buy this mattress as others make a better mattress. I appreciate the review though.
Which ones would you suggest?
any updates? how has it held up? considering pulling the trigger today on the regular mattress with no topper. i sleep best on my stomach and my current bed just annihilates my lower back unless i position myself oddly..
Still holding up. You won’t be disappointed.
It's good to know that the buttons aren't on the pillow top.
I bought a non-green curvy mattress for$500. It works if you are a man and a woman. You can sleep on anything if you don't care. Money is no object.
try coirfit mattress
Any dipping/sagging issues on the main mattress?
None at all. We also have the topper with no issues.
Mine has sagged 1.5 inches after 9 days. I weigh 150.
Do you still like it? Any sagging?
Still have it and no sagging.
Princess and the pea?
?
@@garagegadgethacker2246 Its an old fairytale story about a prince that placed a pea underneath a pile of mattresses to see which princess would feel the pea. According to the story, only true nobility aka a princess would be delicate and sensitive enough to feel a pea underneath 45 mattresses
Latex Mattress Factory, just build your own, better quality and save money
Your audio sucks. You need to get a mike closer to you. Even at full volume I cannot hear you.
Thanks for the advice. As I expand my channel, I plan to purchase a mike. Do you have any suggestions?
You relayed this information with such demure and grace.
Your phone sucks. Heard it just fine on half volume with kids running around screaming.
@@garagegadgethacker2246 Try Rode VideoMicro or its copies like Boya MM1. Not expensive and works pretty well. Just take in consideration that some cellphones will require you to buy an additional 3.5mm TRS to 3.5mm TRRS patch adapter cable.
