We needed this video a couple months ago! Had the hardest time ordering rugs that arrived looking different than they did online, then having to return them and try again. We love you (such a fun personality) and your channel (so real-world helpful). Keep it up!
Thank you so much this comment made my week! I hope you found the right one. Rugs and tile are so tricky because they look so different in the space. Thank you again for being so kind.
You are so sweet. Thank you for asking about me. I had a life event that threw me for a loop. This comment is encouragement to get back at it. Thank you so much!
Julie - That was terrific! I'm re-ding my bedroom and this video helped me overcome my choice paralysis; love the tip about rug map via HD! I'll be folowing you closely for more warm & wonderful DYI - with thanks - Kirsten Justice
I just found you now. I read in a previous reply, you said you had a life event which changed things. I hope you're weathering through it well. I would love to see more content from you, I hope you return, you have an amazing talent and wealth of knowledge. In the meantime, I'll be happily browsing through the older content!
Thanks for the video.. you just helped me decide I want a thicker rug! I actually designed my new living room with the help of screenshots and Canva! I snipped my flooring color as a base, then snipped the rug I loved and pasted it onto of the vinyl pattern to make sure it looked good together. I then was able to snip and remove the background on my couch, multiple coffee tables and accent chairs, to find the perfect combination! All from my computer :) If anyone else tries this it may also help to have a page where you paste some of the pictures from reviews so you can see how your pieces look in natural/different lighting!
I love this video and it is so helpful! I'll be purchasing multiple rugs in the near future and for sure will watch this video again and again and will follow your suggestions. And I'll also follow your advice on the Home Depot pads - had no idea those were available - what a great idea! Thank you for continuing to publish these stellar videos and helping out those of us who are novice designers!
Great tips! I bought a rug fr Amazon. It arrived folded and it is has been a bit difficult to get the creases/wrinkles out. Lots of patience is needed❤😊
Hey Janet Do you have a prosource near you? I think it is a franchise all over the country. They have all sorts of industrial rugs that I have used in commercial spaces. I also get my custom rugs there. I want to do a video on custom rugs from prosource. Are you trying to get an industrial look or need the durability? Thanks for the kind words.
@@julieroman Hi Julie, so it is just my husband and I, plus our golden Gracie. She is not very hard on our floors as she is 12. We are doing more of and industrial vibe for sure. Yes, just googled we do have prosources in our area. Atlanta and Greenville SC Will check it out. Thanks for response😀
I know this is one of your older video's but I hope you get this message. I have dark hardwood floors and a denim blue sofa and love seat and I'm bringing in another piece of furniture that includes a fireplace. It's a Marina Cay console from Badcock & More, it's rustic brown with like an ivory popping through the block type pattern on the front. I'm uncertain on the color of rug that will pair well. Hope you can help? Thanks in advance..
3 new rugs is so exciting! Good luck on your project and you might want to try to putting the three rugs in the Pinterest search and see all the pictures that feature these rugs for ideas on how to decorate with them. They are so popular they will show up in lots of photos! Good luck and I am sure it is going to be beautiful!
Unfortunately our kitchen flooring was breaking (old house) so we had to put ugly plywood over the floor. To cover the ugly floor I needed a huge rug. I purchased a massive patterned blue rug from Rugs USA and I was very lucky because they were having a huge sale so I got a big rug for a great price. I took screenshots of each rug I liked and looked at them for a few days, asked my husband’s opinion, etc. We still have plywood showing in a long narrow area. Basically I need a long runner rug. My big rug is beautiful but I’m finding it hard to find another rug that complements it. The kitchen is going to be re-painted to be dark green and my theme is Lord of the Rings. It seems like so many rugs are red or brown. I’m desperately trying to find a nice green or blue rug. Moroccan rugs are nice but they usually have pink mixed in or something a bit too bright for what I’m going for.
I've been wanting to get a Loloi rug but the colors are so confusing! The ink and salmon is beautiful BUT the ink is what black? Charcoal? Blue? I don't want blue. It looks more black on the computer but I love the pattern.
I mostly return them that is why I love ordering them from Amazon. One I kept and I use it in front of one of my doors or if my blue stone step going into my house gets too hot I put the sample down for the kids to step on so they don’t burn their feet. I kept that one because I bought the rug and I wanted to match pillows and other things to it. Recently my friend bought a pottery barn rug and we used that sample to shop and it made a huge difference. I also hear people using rug samples under their pets food bowls because I guess their messy when they eat but I don’t have a dog. I would love one but my son is allergic.
Hi Julia! Thank you for this video! I am starting to redecorate my living room & have been looking at various rugs. We rent our house which has wall to wall carpets throughout the house. I love these rugs especially the Layla. How do you think they will work laying them over the existing carpet?
Hello. Good luck on redecorating. These rugs are thin so they layer well. Just make sure you do not have a plush rug under it because they will push down into a plush rug and may create a tripping hazard. You might want to get a sample and then step on it to see if it will work. Thank you so much for watching.
I just received my 8x10 shag area rug. It literally is in a 15x18 vacuum packed package. I'm reluctant to even open it. How can an 8x10 rug be of good quality in such a small package. I think I'm going to send it back without even opening it.
What color dining rug do you get when you have a dining table that has Seely color on table top and russet stain on bottom and my couch in open floor plan is taupe color? I have a good mix of greys and browns. A fireplace that’s boardwalk stone color bone color and light grey. A light aqua teal front door. And tile floors that look like wood that are brown and wood cabinets that are walnut stained. I’m so lost on how to tie it all together!! Help is so appreciated!! ☺️
You have a great mix of neutrals. It is hard to say without seeing a pic. Look at the Amber Lewis x Lolie sand and sky. Get a sample for sure….since I am doing this blind but it will be brighter neutrals that your table, pick up the stone and taupe walls and has a blue undertone that will bring in your door. Or try the angela rose blake rug this rug has a lot of different blues. If you did the beige denim it would blend and be more neutral if you did the denim taupe then the blue would more dramatic. I would get a bunch of samples, play around and send them back. I hope this was helpful.
@@brooke850 a jute rug is always gorgeous and safe. There are million on amazon. The only thing I would say is it could be scratchy and trap food in the weave. Maybe someone on the comments will weigh in. Read the comments on the jute rugs to see if people tell you anything about having one with food. Also for inspiration look at Serena and Lily then find a similar one on amazon or even wayfair. You are on the right path your home sounds beautiful trust your voice you got this!
Ive tried that brand rug( Safavieh) and I've never been happy with the quality of them. I also have tired Nuloom and for the price the quality is great! I do want to try a Loloi rug for under my dining table.
Go slightly smaller to make sure you do not see it. If the rug pad is thick it will lift the rug on top up so much you will see it if it comes right to the edge. My rug is thin and the pad is so thick there a slight transition that you can see where the rug pad starts. It is not noticeable unless I point it out and I prefer to have a thick cozy rug. I have another rug pad that is super thin so you don’t see the transition but not as comfortable but it is in my dining room so a thinner rug is better to slide over with chairs.
Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I should have said that in the video. If you are seeking comfort then it would be worth the investment. You might want to switch out rugs to change up your look but the rug pad will be the same if you are keeping the same size rug. I have three kids and I was on the floor a lot with my kids playing so it was worth the money. If I did not have kids then I might have just gotten a regular one. Make the choice based on your lifestyle and what works for you. I am sorry I did not state that and thank you for bringing it up.
I am sorry you suffer from allergies. Can you order a sample and see if you have a reaction? Do you have any rugs in your home that currently bother you? If you are concerned then maybe go with a natural rug. I love wool because it is easier to clean. This video was more about staying on a budget I could do another video on higher end rugs.
These rugs are affordable options so no not woven. Search Lindasbarn on Instagram for handwoven vintage rugs if you are looking for the real thing. Hope this is helpful.
Informative but I would really have liked to see a foot stepping on that too thin rug that’s sitting on the Home Depot pad. I’m worried it lifts it up too much and lifts the corners off the ground.
This is the best video about rugs I've ever seen in my life! Thank you! 😀
