Fixing "humpy" Flints

  • Short video showing the best way that I have found so far to deal with flints that are just too tall for your flintlock jaws. Obviously safety glasses are recommended but I left the gloves off so I could monitor temperature. I have tried this method with standard aluminum oxide belt and drum sanders with poor results, diamond definitely seems to work the best.

      It gets the job done! When I was told that flints were not returnable or refundable from a certain vendor, I had to improvise.

      @Bill Thomas yes in the last few months mine have all been very tall I have had to knap them down this looks much faster

      I just wish that the vendors would get word back to the knappers over across the pond that we aren't happing paying for 12 flints, 6 of which need modifications to work.
