Rob you should keep that code written down somewhere, if your battery ever dies or you have to disconnect it for an upgrade you will need it again. On the factory one you got with your JT or JL it’s locked to the vin so if you lose power or disconnect the battery it never asks. The dealer can lookup the factory code for you and usually for no charge but of course that depends. The code you have for yours may someday be needed by the next owner and will be a mystery unless you share. Also these radios are available online, I bought a nav one for $400 and the seller sent me the code. I have a spare now and I wrote down the code because I no longer have the vehicle. Maybe someday I’ll sell it to the infotainment guys because my new JT is gonna have the 8.4.

I got MY 8.4" screen (and the upgraded suspension, lights, tires, etc.) the HARD way, Rob: I had to buy the Rubicon trim to go with the radio! The Sales staff at the Jeep dealership LOVE customers like me. They even come over to say "Hi" whenever they see me there in the waiting area (for service app'ts, like my first servicing 2 days ago).

I got that radio in my 80th Anniversary Gladiator when I bought it. Love it! Don't need the SiriusXM, though, as I have other music services I use, but it includes a one year subscription, so it's there. No plans to renew, at the end of the year. Otherwise, everything else is great, and I use quite often (like climate control, Android Auto, navigation, and so on).

If you change your mind about Sirius for some reason, then wait until they contact you before your expiration… tell them that it’s too expensive. They’ll drop the price by 50%. Tell them AGAIN that it’s too expensive. They’ll drop the price another 50%. :)

@@MS-it9vv Thanks for the tip. However, the main reason I have no use for Sirius isn't because of the cost, it's because I don't listen to the radio much, even on log road-trips -- if I want music, I plug-in my USB drive with assorted MP3s on it. ;-)
Further, I have ZERO interest in some of their "radio personalities" such as that loser Howard Stern
...so for me, there's not anything there @ SiriusXM (even their traffic data, etc.) to justify ANY money spent to keep Sirius (or Stern!) wealthy and/or in business.

The big screen radio came with my 2021 Gladdy. I love the visibility of it. I have to say that Jeep's navigation system has to be one of the worst I've ever dealt with. It's sent me on more wild goose chases, either to nonexistant roads or on convoluted routes that could easily have been more direct. Fortunately we were within a signal so we could use Google Maps to get us back on the right path again.

I have a 2021 Overland Gladiator that came stock with the 8.4. Since day 1 I've had an ongoing Bluetooth issue. It periodically unpairs from my phone. No help from service on the issue. However, I usually use the USB connection with Android Auto. That also has its problems. I use Spotify, and frequently the sound does not come out of all speakers. If I unplug and replug, that usually clears it up. Fortunately plugging it in also repairs the phone to Bluetooth. So other than those issues I live the larger screen. It has navigation, but I agree it's not great. I prefer using Waze or Google maps which display on the 8.4 screen. Also works great with Apple maps. (If your one of those people...)

My 2021 JTR came with the 8.4” screen, I looked for JTR’s with this included, it was on my just have list. I like it, the front & back up camera’s are phenomenal on screen. I can see it which is important. I have Navigation but you have to subscribe to have voice control otherwise you have to use the onscreen keyboard, I use voice control on my phone for navigating. Hands free navigation is a safety issue & shouldn’t be by subscription only. It’s SiriusXM enabled but I don’t subscribe. Music from my phone sounds better than the compressed signal from XM. I have a .50 cal bullet antenna since I use over the air radio mostly in town.

@@boldman4700 Same for me: I retired early (mid-50s), am in my early 70s now, and only go out every 4 days or so unless I have some app't/event I need to go to (rare). While I AM out & about out though, I get 5-6 things done -- more efficient that way -- but I may put 120+ miles on the Gladiator on those "outings." That's in/around town -- "City Driving" -- so I'm lucky if I get the EPA rating of 16 mpg. I guess the average is 17 or a bit more. Still not good.
Sometimes (rarely though) I have to go to Castle Rock (30 miles away) or Denver (60 miles away) -- make a "day-trip" out of those and tour the countryside via a scenic state hwy (vs. the Interstate) on my way back to Colorado Springs...a nice, leisurely driving experience in my Gladiator...as long as I mind the animals in the road sometimes -- deer, turkeys and llamas/alpacas. ;-)
Of course, ONE of the "5-6 things" on my To Do on my errand-days-list is a stop at my local Shell station (prefer Chevron but they disappeared here years ago) as I prefer to keep the Gladiator's tank filled vs. letting it run down past 1/2. At least with Shell I get $0.05 off per gallon (their "Fuel Rewards" thing) but it's hardy a dent in gas-costs gas is high here, too -- it WAS around $3.60/3.70/gal for Regular, but recently saw it at $3.45. Maybe with Winter approaching it's going down?
      Who knows...
Last time I was in West TX (ELP) -- mid-August 2021 -- gas was something like $2.69/2.79 there, at least a dollar cheaper than CO.
Your $4.29 is outrageous! But I guess in HI and AK it's worse!
It would be nice if a President (Democrat or Republican -- doesn't matter) would deal with greedy, price-gouging oil-company owners and "Stop the Insanity!"
