I see some people don't like this series.I'm still learning a lot about the automotive field so maybe it's just us newbies but these videos are good and helpful.I already knew how to do most of this stuff from watching older ETCG videos lol but it's a good refresher.Soon enough will come Fairmont videos.I watched the 20 second video of the engine on the dyno without headphones but on Skype with the audio somewhat loud and mic unmuted, was not expecting it to be that loud...neither was my cousin on the other end of the Skype call hahaha
Not many people will go out and buy tools then drive to a yard and start teaching themselves and getting dirty. Those are a lot of steps Eric isn't showing in his videos because he loves what he does, but the majority of people don't even change their own oil because it gets them a little dirty.
... and people like that are probably not watching videos like these in the first place, so that does not really matter if he shows the steps of purchasing tools and all that. It is assumed by most that if a person is researching a DIY project that they know they will need to buy the tools and supplies needed to do the work. Eric recorded a nice segment on what he suggests one bring with him to the yard, and - importantly - he suggests you remove the part on your vehicle that will be replaced FIRST so you can note exactly which tools you will need to take to the yard with you. So what steps exactly is he not showing?
lol Oh my gosh Eric! This hack is brilliant!!! I needed this hack a month ago! Gosh I wish I watch this video when it came out! I had issues with my battery and my window was half way up and it poured for a week. Needless to say, I got the battery fixed but I am still trying to get rid of the old water smell out of my car. lol fun
Eric, anyway we can get a view of other cars other than Hondas. I know you can't please everyone but it would be nice for others to benefit from these videos. Thanks!
Great series, Eric. I want to point out that when viewing a playlist you do not have the opportunity to Like videos if you are in full screen mode. I did not think that was very fair to you, so after viewing all twenty I decided to go back and Like each one individually. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to more Fairmont videos, too!
Local wrecking yards have been closing in my area and now I don't think any are left within reasonable driving distance. That said, I can also say I still miss my '88 Honda Accord Lx-I hatchback 5 speed.
In fact, the majority of vehicles have 14.4 volts at the battery while the engine is running and the alternator is charging it. So 18 volts is only 3.6 volts over.
K, wait - what kind wires did you attach to the battery? Could you just take the clip off the door wires and touch it to the battery directly? I have a 9.6V electric drill battery I’m thinking could work...
2 wires on my 91 integra from the ect fan switch on the thermostat housing... Do both wires get grounded?? I think I'm right but I figured id ask the man... O and the motor is out of a 99 civic si b16a2... Just wanna get rid of this toggle switch and make it right.
hi eric my son spun a rod or main bearing in 2000 integra B18B1 nonvtec. his oil pan gasket failed and he still drove it home. Where can we get a b18b1 replacement for inexpensive replacement? i believe crank shaft will be damaged. thanks
Some people are just morons. Today, for this video, the number of morons stands at 31 with nearly 500 who liked it and took a moment to indicate that. And those 31 morons are probably the same 31 morons who down-thumb everything.
Eric, since you're on a Honda Accord series, a question. My 2009 Accord LX has a button for max AC. What does this do? It doesn't seem to make a difference when I press it.
Max AC recirculates the air in the passenger compartment, Normal draws air in from outside. Max cools down faster, because it's re-cooling air that's already been cooled before. Under some conditions, though, humidity builds up faster.
unforunately the coil on the motor is frayed and my window is all the way down anytime you try to send it up it'll just jam since the motor gear thing can't spin am i screwed because you can't even get the glass out in that instance? :\
Does someone make an adapter that connects to a powertool battery, with a couple of alligator clips on the other end? Would be good for something like this.
I'd still say it's safer to use one of these lithium power packs that are intended to help you start a car when the battery is empty, because not every window motor may take 18V so gracefully as this one did.
I simply peel mine back very carefully after a short time of heating the gumming with a heat gun on low (or a hair dryer) so that it peels off mostly intact. If you can get it off cleanly you can put it back on. Press in place and slowly reheat the gumming until it is just a bit squishy. Press it into the steel with the heel of your hand. Take your time. It is worth it to have that back in place, based on my experience with a missing one. It will not go back on perfectly, but it will get the job done. If you need to re-use it then the secret is in how carefully you peel it back when you remove it.
I know you're joking, but it actually looks like there's about equal numbers of Toyotas and Hondas at all the Pull-A-Parts in the US - about 1500 Toyotas and 1600 Hondas. Compare that with about 6300 Fords.
Eric, for God sake! I don't want to unsubscribe since I'm interested in Fairmont but it's sooo annoying all this crapy stuff. It's enough. Really. It is.
I appreciate your input but, first, people ask for more repair videos, I give them repair videos every day for 2 weeks and they complain that they don't like the videos. You should try what I do sometime, it's harder than you think.
The yard wants 24.95, $3 core, $2 Entrance fee, $3 Environmental fee so ~$33 + tax and addl for a warranty, a brand new regulator & motor is $32.55 free shipping and no tax on ebay. So yeah always compare prices sometimes new is cheaper.
Hans Sauer Gas, maintenance, time, wear on tools, beverages, possibility of injury while in the junkyard, detergent for your hands and clothes etc. Sometimes junkyards are substantially cheaper, many times they aren't.

I want a hundred more of these videos. These will help many people looking for this stuff.
That means more competition at the yards!
Thank you!

I'm beginning to think, that Eric is taking that Honda home with him - bit by bit. ;-)

For this series no, perhaps in the future.
By the way, bad ass trick with the battery. I deal with electricity almost every day, and it's easy to miss these type of tips and tricks.
Love these videos, fast, to the point and well explained! Oh and please do more junkyard videos.
Thank you for amazing content, I wish RUclips had more people like you!

Fantastic tip with the battery... Thank you Eric!
Good vid. The Subaru's with the frameless door glass are even more fun to get out.
This just help me today.. thanks for this informative video.. 👍

Once again thanks, hope there are more of these. Is there one of these actually salvaging a the computer?

Eric if You would have some time I would like to see how to install aftermarket oil pressure gauge and oil temperature gauge. Thank You

Why would anyone dislike ? Bastards. This was awesome.

"Honda window motor - your own personal Dark Matter Pikachu... with a few modifications."
Eric, should I just replace my 2000 Ford Explorer entire door to replace the power window motor?
No but you have to drill out the rivets
nmattcar oh screw it, the door is 50$ and alot less agro...
+Brutally Honest it's honestly not that baf
nmattcar I bought it with a replaced door already, so if I can get a matching color I'll go with the whole door replace.
Easier to do the motor I would think.
unforunately the coil on the motor is frayed and my window is all the way down anytime you try to send it up it'll just jam since the motor gear thing can't spin
am i screwed because you can't even get the glass out in that instance? :\
Hi Eric which websites would you recommend for buying parts?
Depends on what you're buying.
I usually check RockAuto.com, Amazon.com or 1AAuto
Does someone make an adapter that connects to a powertool battery, with a couple of alligator clips on the other end? Would be good for something like this.
I'd still say it's safer to use one of these lithium power packs that are intended to help you start a car when the battery is empty, because not every window motor may take 18V so gracefully as this one did.
Actually, most do just fine in my experience.
Your power probe would have been handy to supply power.
Fords often have rivets holding the regulator.
Eric, I know door panel, card must be new. ( Princess Pins ? ) You D bomb, stay dirty. PS. what kind of gloves are you using? Thanks.
I've always done this with two 9v batteries. They die quick though.
how do you replace the vapor barrior?
I simply peel mine back very carefully after a short time of heating the gumming with a heat gun on low (or a hair dryer) so that it peels off mostly intact. are you pulling parts for fun or do you have a plan???????
agree ☝
Fun.
Rip vapor barrier...
Nothing a little duck tape wont fix.
window regulator with motor sells sells for W/Motor Car $31.99 + $2.99 at your local yard
so how much are you saving ?
even if you get a new one. this dose show how to take the old one out with out damaging anything
ugh, man, some toyota love maybe?
You can't find any Toyotas in a Pick n Pull. They're all still on the road.
B Shea 😂
I know you're joking, but it actually looks like there's about equal numbers of Toyotas and Hondas at all the Pull-A-Parts in the US - about 1500 Toyotas and 1600 Hondas. Compare that with about 6300 Fords.
Of course I was joking, but I'm glad there are souls like you who go out and do the tough science to prove a point. God speed, son.
There's a Toyota alternator pull video in here somewhere.

Hehehe back probe
or you could spend $50 bucks to buy a new one
Or you could just buy a new car. The cost between this and $50 might be a big deal for someone.
The yard wants 24.95, $3 core, $2 Entrance fee, $3 Environmental fee so ~$33 + tax and addl for a warranty, a brand new regulator & motor is $32.55 free shipping and no tax on ebay. So yeah always compare prices sometimes new is cheaper.
what about gas to drive to the yard
Hans Sauer Gas, maintenance, time, wear on tools, beverages, possibility of injury while in the junkyard, detergent for your hands and clothes etc. Sometimes junkyards are substantially cheaper, many times they aren't.
wtf, are you testing the motor? Obviously the cord snapped and an entire motor regular needs to be replaced. you're scary.
