  • In a heart-wrenching incident that occurred in 2021, bodycam footage from the Pharr Police Department captures the devastating aftermath of a deadly drunken crash that claimed the life of a 16-year-old and left a 12-year-old injured. The video reveals the scene as officers arrived at a family's apartment, where an intoxicated driver, identified as 22-year-old Jesus Cruz, had recklessly slammed his car into the building. The impact of the collision was so severe that it took the life of a teenage victim who was sleeping inside the apartment at the time, and left another child with serious injuries.

The bodycam footage provides a chilling glimpse into the immediate aftermath of the tragedy, as a heavily intoxicated Jesus Cruz struggles to perform sobriety tests and coherently explain the events that led to the crash. A Texas judge handed down a 20-year prison sentence to Cruz after he pleaded guilty to charges of DWI with death and serious bodily injury.

A lady killed 2 high school teenagers while texting and driving and got 24 years only 4 more than this guy while killing 2 minors. If it’s on accident it’s 3rd degree. they will not be charged as if it was premeditated or 2nd degree heat of the moment even if they were being negligent. His sentence is just if we’re going by the way handle other people in his situation, remember the punishment has to fit the crime, he was negligent yes and deserves punishment but it was mistake it’s not like he’s actually evil and planned to kill and or mass murder and yet I’ve seen comments that said give him life and the death penalty I was like wtf. Even mass murderers and people who kill there own family just barely avoid the death penalty no way an accidental negligent killing is warrant more than 20 years, which is not a slap on the wrist. I want you to go to prison for just 2 years and I guarantee you won’t be saying 20 is a slap on the wrist.

I’m guessing they will get his blood at the hospital. They would need his blood alcohol level to show he was driving impaired. They’ll get the blood.

If and I mean a BIG If he hit his head, that’s not the reason he can’t remember nor can’t keep track of his many stories, that’s called high BAC! He literally can’t tell the officers anything(nor wants too) and that kind of head injury, you would see some type of head trauma on the outside. This is alcohol all the way!

This makes my blood boil. I'm literally shaking with anger as I watch this. It's infuriating that so many people still choose to drive drunk knowing it puts other's in danger. Disgusting.

Being in a different state of consciousness, with no recollection of events the next morning. For example, one could get so drunk, go into a complete rage and murder someone, and not even remember why or how it happened the next morning.

Basically your mind blocks it out so you don’t remember. That’s all.
