I think you both balance traditional and modern elements within your quilts and fabric lines. I really appreciate this because gifts are enjoyed by all receivers.
Thanks for another fab podcast. Love spending time with you each month. It feels like I’m sat with you. Have an awesome Christmas. Enjoy spending time with family. Maria from the UK
The absolute only thing I don’t care for about your podcast is having to wait for every other week! 🥰😍. Love your dynamic and truly special mother - daughter team! Thank you so very much for not only all the time, work, and talent that goes into your fabric designing, pattern designing , books, promoting etc but also for the RUclips-podcasting. It literally feels like being able to sit down with a cup of coffee or tea with friends and having a chat session You ladies are so talented and fun to hang out with!
Yes Billy has a great voice... I’m happy to hear there will be another camera coming because I wanted to see a close up of the key phob gift you two received😊
Hand cream recommendation, CeraVe. I do not think it is greasy. It absorbs quickly into my skin. It is fragrance free. Thank you Sherri for your recommendation of binding needles. I just completed binding a quilt using one of the binding needles. I like the length of the needle, the size of the eye and it’s nice and sharp. I enjoy listening to both of you talking about time management. I remember all the years I was teaching and raising my family, time management was always a challenge. I’m now retired and in charge of my time. Enjoy your journey but be kind to yourselves.
I travel/camp all over and hit quilt shops and have purchased lotions from quite a few shops that is made with goats milk. I love them and they are not greasy. One in particular that I liked was from Lee’s Quilt Shed in Jolley, Iowa.
The question about scrap choice for scrappy quilts: I started quilting w a y before fabric precuts and my favorite quilts were scrap ones. Yes, some were more successful than others. I thoroughly enjoyed the process. Soon, our four boys multiplied into A Big Family. As I was working on a quilt many times one of them would say how much they loved the one I was working on. Yup, it became theirs. As time went on and I wanted to make a special quilt for; person _______, it became quite difficult at times. That is, until I stumbled upon this thought. Here is the situation that describes this very well. Our third son and his family moved to Florida. We live near the coast in southern Maine as did his siblings. They in particular loved the beach the best. (most of the rest of us loved the mountains not far from us in New Hampshire). So, as I asked myself what word best describes my son and his lovely wife? That was easy.....the answer was BEACHY. Our local quilt shop had a quilt hanging in their shop. It was Off The Rail by Jaybird quilts and sone is soft colors. They also carried a fair assortment of nautical fabrics on the bolt. So I set out with the goal of making a quilt that, “I want to feel, taste, and smell Wells Beach”. This is the point that I switched from choosing fabrics analytically and went by “feeling”. With each choice I would ask myself, “Does this make me feel like I’m at the beach?” In the final quilt the majority of the fabrics were non nautical prints But the overwhelming feeling was a soft nautical beach feeling. It was perfect for them and they absolutely loved it. We drove then to Massachusetts to visit the Topsfield Fair which we all did as a family. I had grown up there. My sister in law saw the quilt and immediately said “it reminds me of Plum Island”. ( Her favorite local place). I ended up making a second quilt like this and gave it to her for Christmas. Since then I have used this method on many quilts. A few times, I have made a scrap quilt by asking myself, does this fabric make me feel happy?
Sherri I love all of your Stitch Fix tops! I’ve noticed a couple from the last podcasts but after today I’m confident that is where you’re getting them! Love the podcast - it’s amazing listening to you both and the mother daughter dynamic is awesome.
Watching your podcast is a great way to start off my Monday morning. I love my quilting life planner book and it keeps me so focused on my projects and finally I feel more organized on my projects and at my age I need this planner. I recommend the quilting life planner because it keeps everything organized and helps when I go to the fabric store.
The Franklin Planner is wonderful for hourly appointments each day. They also have monthly and weekly pages for each month. I feel that Chelsea comes across more modern than traditional. Have either of you ever made a traditional quilt without changing the block or pattern?
I hope all the planner companies you mentioned will be in your blog. I am trying to be more organized in my life and am having a hard time making up my mind on the kind of planner to get.
Thank you so much for the great answers! It is always a good day when you learn something not only fro your podcast but with all your videos and blogs. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas❤️❤️
Cerave is my go to hand moisturizer because it absorbs into my skin. It is also the only lotion that did not burn when my son had eczema breakouts. It comes in a tub and goes a long way.
A great hand lotion that isn’t greasy is Cetaphil Daily Advance Lotion. It is also very healing for those dry crackly days. And Chelsi you need to visit Chicago if you think it’s “the worst” here in Utah.
Love your Monday Podcasts - and all your tips and Question and Answer segments. Perfect with my morning cup of coffee - and this chat period with you. I feel I learn so much and get inspired to keep quilting :)!
One of my favorite hand creams is Neutrogena hand cream. Another great one is Salt Cellar Spa hand cream, can purchase in Portsmouth NH. I have been told this works great for eczema as well.
I am a planner as well. I have and LOVE the quilting life planner, it is AMAZING!!! Have you considered selling PDF's of it for us Happy Planners so when a new year comes and ours are filled or we fluff up or need more room, etc, we can just buy the PDF version and fix it all up ourselves?
Chelsea, my mom told me the stressest time for her was when her children were young. She was trying to help me. Now i am older and i have told my daughter-in-law and daughter this. One day at a time we do our best.
Chelsi! Every time I get done watching a podcast I have to skip right over to your shop and buy the pattern! Same with you Sherri! I have almost an exclusive pattern collection from Sherri and Chelsi, not to mention the planner that I really don't know how to use because I am new-ish to quilting. I have A LOT of tops but I am afraid to ruin them by quilting on them. And I am poor, so I can't afford a long-armer. Any suggestions?
Hi Mary! I am a new quilter as well but ordered the planner to help me along my journey. I am doing the block of the month this year. I also found a you tube video on their channel for the planner just in case if that helps you. 😉
I would like to try hand quilting. I watched a number of RUclips videos and I’ve tried it-with little success. Would you please recommend a good place/resource to learn? Thank you.

St. Ives hand lotion works great for me. There is several different types: with aloe, vitamin E, and hydrating with vitamin E and avocado body lotion is my go to.

I’ve used Franklin Planners since the late 1980s! As you might imagine, I’ve used just about every size and configuration.
Me too
I love the Franklin planner. It’s a great calendar and planner to keep you daily in your tasks at hand.

Enjoyed this episode. Well, I love all of them. Great job! Christmas blessings to you all.
Good audio/recording, nice to hear how you are evolving, training on the job. Really nice so far.
I love Quiltfolk and Love Patchwork and Quilting.
I definitely want to see the flannel quilt...and are you pre-washing?

Well the quality of both visual and sound is great.
I find mixing a drop of Aquaphor with a drop of lotion /creme ( I have Aveeno ) and rub together makes a BIG difference and great moisturizer ! 😊
Billy has a nice voice hope to see his face one day 🤔

I used Avon moisture therapy for many years until Avon withdrew from NZ & Australia. It's non greasy too & was often on special
look forward to your videos!
Hmm...I have never once paid attention to which way I put my batting
Where do I go to purchase your patterns (and fabric)?? I love both featured quilts today...
Never mind... i found it in your notes; Esty 😊 I found you and now I have like 5 patterns in my cart...
Are you planning on any navy in your future fabric collections. Lived the navy in walkabout collection. Thanks

I didn’t even know there was a bumpy side😮
How about showing how you design fabric together including how you choose colors?
Any chapter of Project Linus would love donations.
