Why, instead of a tail rotor, simply use a tail boom in the form of a wing with a variable angle of attack, slats and flaps, which will be blown by the main rotor, creating a lifting force on this wing that compensates for the rotational moment of the helicopter and carries out heading control? What is the difficulty?
Are they showcasing two design here? Because the orientation of the wing changes in the video, at one its angled towards the front and at another it seems it's angled towards the back
The wings are angled down, which makes them look to you like they are angled forward or rearward - depending on where you are viewing them from - but they actually go straight out as viewed from above.
Air Bus. Eu sou Brasileiro do RJ. Tenho 41 anos Embora admiro esse lindo projeto. Se vocês me derem um emprego criando novos designes de helicópteros vocês vão se surpreender com minhas ideias inovadoras. Me digam onde posso ir e falar com quem e qual data e horário. Obs: Moro no RJ. Atualmente estou sem emprego. Conheço sobre vôo e simuladores entre outras coisas. Minha habilidade é inovar. Gostaria de uma oportunidade. Aguardo vocês. :-)
@@fgtrhwu2 I guess it depends on wether or not the can reduce the cost of those designs, both are quite complexe and thus expensive. just like the v22. In operations where top speed are not the main criteria is just dont see a EC135 sized Tiltrotor. And the Design of the Defiant might be less complex but you also dont have the lift from the Wing like the v280. So that might be just a niche design, like the x3.
@@nelayo4894 I still remember the Commanche programme. Bell claims their version uses available and cheaper tech that probably was expensive at the time. But the Raider X looks like it can carry more weapons despite not being as stealthy. Curious which route the US is gonna take
@@fgtrhwu2 I´m actually more curious wich way the civil market is gonna take (might be biased on that one :D ) but if the v280 really is going to be built on a big scale it might make the technology cheap enough for the 8-12 tonne region. could be quite interesting for the SAR/HEMS area
One of the most beatiful helicopters evrr built
It's replacement just had it's first flight. Gonna be interesting to see them in the air.
This looks amazing
472 km/h used to be a big deal, until Bugatti Chiron hit 490 km/h on the runway... Just kidding.
Fastet time for Paris-Les 3 Vallées en France
Bugatti Chiron : 4h34
Eurocopter X3 :1h12
You can keep your Chiron (and pay speeding fines)
10 YEARS in development and still not a single commercial model avaliable😑😑😒
When will the RACER finally enter in service?

One problem is that it wouldn't work in autorotation. It might not even be effective enough in normal operation.

The Bell 533 flew faster and is the fastest helicopter that ever flew... Not this.
where can i buy one?
When you are looking for the price, and you don't even find it, you know you don't have the money to buy one ;)

too un practical because of the danger of getting caught by the fans when going in or out the aircraft, specialy in adversal conditions.mmmmm.
That doesn’t look like it would qualify as a “helicopter”
yeah, thats why its an unofficial record. its more like a gyrodyne. Official Record is still held by the westland lynx at about 400kph
@@nelayo4894 Yea and looking at the US Future Vertical Lift programme, it seems we are moving away from the standard helicopter design
