Great Video Phil👏. Was looking forward to seeing that gun perform! It really looks the business 👍. Plus being able to change pots/colour so quickly is a massive bonus! Keep the amazing videos coming mate. Your straight talking approach is a breath of fresh Air.👍👏
As a fellow professional painter who is just getting into all things spraying your video's are just great, love your no bull/frills but professional approach, really helpful...p.s. i too followed my dad into the business
At 80psi it's way to high for door furniture paint etc ,Higher pressures that it can handle are for high solids, Car body work paints etc, I know you state paint consistency and different material need fine tuned an yes there all different, definitely interested in the 3m gun, more so if the gentilin csk240 can keep up to it , try the gun empty on full air to see if pressure drops below 2bar for a few minutes to see. Thanks for uploading the video , I was looking forward to this update, keep up the good work. 👍
Hello Phil do you still rate this 3M spray gun? I upcycle furniture and was looking to buy this. I have a 50l compressor will it run smoothly mind you my furniture projects are relatively small to medium. Biggest is a sideboard/ chest of drawers.
It's very good. You need to make sure the compressor can give enough flow of air for what tye gun requires. Check the spec of the compressor and also the gun. The gun is lovely though.
Great review, I’ve got this gun and I love it :) sadly my compressor isn’t powerful enough to run it. The clean ups are the best thing no time at all compared to my airless and hplv gear
It's a brilliant gun. They need to make it suitable for compressors that suit out work (decorating) and not those who have spray shops/booths with large units. It must be something that could be done to reduct the air volume it needs.
I have one and I did the H/O conversion to it so I can have the option of pressure in the cup or not. Mostly useful for thicker finishes and stuff. I run a 26 gallon compressor rated at 6.5 cfm @ 40 psi. They recommend 13 for this gun. Although I'm not doing automotive finishes I typically don't srpay a ton at one time so my set-up works for me.
Ive only used airless machines this looks fine but as a contractor when your avarage size house has 22 doors this would take 2 long ... and why buy 2 spray machines when one does it all..
Hate to break the bad news to you dude but I'm guessing he owns at least 10 different types of spray machines/devices....i have 3(looking to add) and use them all

I know paints different in certain countries but if your in the trade its about time and quality .not sure how you long you get on a uk build but in aus you get 2 weeks on a 350sqm house... with this gun the doors would take me 3 days ... I can tell you what to spray so they come up like glass...someone did say plastic but you can't please everyone
Don't get me wrong.... Airless for speed and the right tip with filter away you go. But with my QT5 (Stage5) hvlp the control and finish can out weigh the speed of airless when you need more control. If spraying kitchens or bedroom units... I'm not looking at how fast. The job is priced for what's done.. not how long it takes .. so money is made. We don't do contract new build work.... Thankfully lol Can't do with having to work with other trades in my way when your the finishing trade looking to get a finish.
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator you're spraying a door in your video... Ive not done a kitchen unit dont think anyone does that here.. not since the 70s maybe... I dont mess with 2 pot systems anymore
Yeah, the gun needs quite a bit of power as it has a high air flow rate, my 24ltr units wasn't ideal. But the gun is geared up to spray shops and car body repair shops that have big ltr capacity air tanks.

It'll be interesting to see what psi I can get down to using a lot thinner paints.

Don’t you use your qtech 5 stage anymore phill?
Yes I do.
From my understanding you want it at about 20 psi while you're holding the trigger.
I dn't think my pump is up to the spec of what this gun needs, although it did work with it.

It doesn't look £500 squid. It looks like something you'd pick up at the pound shop. 😅
I wish!

Sorry about that :(
