    My first truck was a Ford F-150 4x4 bought new in 77 (it was a 76 model), paid $4500 for it. It came with an FE block 360. Two years later I found a 428 CJ that came out of a mustang that a high school friend of mine wrecked. Paid $385 for the motor complete with shaker hood scoop. Installed it in the F-150 (not the shaker hood). What a fun truck.
    Got married and traded it for a Mustang II Cobra.
    I regret that to this day. Everyone loved that truck. We would cruise Sonic with three in the cab and half a dozen in the back. (headers with cherry bombs turned out in front of the wheels made a hellacious racket)

      Amazing story, I can relate to the first part of you're story. Got a 74 f100 360, but found a 428 (non cobra jet heads), headers, bigger carb and R code servo makes it a fun truck! Take care. -Winston

      @@f100storys8 I hear ya. My brother and I still talk about that truck. It was so much fun. I ask my self why I got rid of it? I got married and needed another car? That was the case but I was making enough money at the time to buy a new car.. I can't understand exactly why I traded it. Wish I still had it. Do you still have yours?

    • @f100storys8
      @f100storys8 Год назад

      @@jackflash6377 Perhaps at the time it made sense.... for what that's worth... Well, history repeats itself. I have the truck for 3 years now. Bought it at 18 years of age. Just like you it got a 428 after 2 years of ownership. I plan on keeping it forever.

    This car is exactly what I would want. I have a 65 fairlane no post sports coupe with a 289. Barely runs and drives but I do keep it registered and insured. Needs a ton of work. Some suspension work, brake work, engine work. Mostly minor stuff. I've had it for 5 years and I do enough just to keep it running. I wish I could dig right in and do everything that needs to get done. I bet I can bang most of it out in a weekend.

    Congratulations you have a beautiful car! Back in the later 70's,I bought a '67 Fairlane 2 door post,factory 427 dual 4's,4 speed. It had the optional fiberglass scoop hood,traction bars that went all the way to the front seats. I'm not sure if this was a factory setup, or an owner add on. It had a 5.67 posi. I ended up parting everything out. Sure wish I had kept it. Best of luck in all of your future endeavors!

    Mario Andretti won the Daytona 500 in a 67 Fairlane. He wore tan slacks,hush puppie shoes a light wind breaker jacket and crash helmet. He ran speeds better than today. It was the only Nascar race he ever drove i.

    Although the 428 came out in 66'.
    Was it really installed in Fairlane 500's in 67'.
    I know 427's were.
    I know it was possible to pick from either a 427 or 428 in the 7 Litre Galaxy or Galaxy 500 in 66'.
    Supposedly 427 was available, probably "Q" Code in the 68 Fairlane, but Ford said they didn't build one.

      Engine series block named Ford Edsel, big blocks that start at 360 cubes to 427.
      I believe they all share the same block. I think if you swap a crank you can get a 360 to a 390. I also believe these are the same blocks that were termed side oiler and top oiler.
