Bill Ballinger here, this racing that I miss so bad! Mr Gonia that V-Gate shooter can’t be outdone Thank you Robert F You guys , Rory and Dale got it going on !
I was happy to see that there are still Drag Racers out there that carry on the tradition that was so popular back in the 1960s. It takes a lot of money, time and mechanical skills to put one of these Hot Rods together and you have to have a driver that is just as good behind the wheel.
I’m a Chevy guy but like anything cool. That is one of the most beautiful fairlanes I’ve ever seen. I go to the drags in mission. Seen this car run lots. It’s beyond beauty. You still own me a ten second car... well...I brought you a nine second car.
Great video. Well produced. Great cars. I had a 67 Fairlane. Not a race car. Just a restoration. I love the body style of these 66 & 67s. Thanks again Robert for a very enjoyable video.
Got that right about 67.Not much of a mopar guy,but they could pack some horses under the hood.Of all the rides I had so long ago, wish I'd kept the 67 ranchero.Close 2nd,65 Impala S.S.Just as close at 3,tie.67 Chevelle and 65 Galaxie big block 2 door.Could the 1st gen.cuda's be had with a big block?
Hey Don't poke the bear Great to hear you like, anything 1967 That would be....ME😉🙂 But yes these 66- 67 Fairlanes are beautiful intermediate size vehicles. Clean flowing lines. And yes, 67 was the 1st peak yr of muscle cars then it apexed def in 1970 and all over within 2 yrs.
Dear Lord the blue fastback........... Ohhhhhh Emmmm Geeeeee. My heart is racing, simply beautiful and and flawless taste. And both are just stoopit fast. Nasty.
Thank you Robert for making this possible.Jim and I have been trying to get a race together on camera for quite some time.great job..It's a real honour.... thank you...Grant Klohn
I love your Fairlane Grant, it's an awesome drag race car and you're an awesome driver! It looks great, it sounds great, and it runs great! What more could anyone ask for.
grant klohn; Do you still own the 67? I saw earlier vids that you're driving a Probe and also working with Chevy? Awesome, awesome car and driving! Shifting while the front wheels are still in the air! Thank you! John
My love of the 66/67 Fairlanes goes way back to another Jim, Jim Waldo. He used to bring his white 66/67 Fairlane (not sure of the year) running SS/E sponsored by C Ed Flandro Ford to Bonneville Dragstrip in SLC, Utah. Using the clutch pedal back in the day used to be an art. Jim could work it as good as anyone. It's too bad that nowadays, most cars are running autos. I wish they had a FE reunion out west. I would love to go to one of these before all of the legends are gone.
Grant's launches in that Fairlane are a beauty to behold. love it! Love this video. Fairlane Fever indeed as I have a 1959 Fairlane I'm working on. FoMoCo!!!!
I had a 66 gta in 1969, it was a quick street car for the time, on par with an SS 396 chevelle. I put in 427 dual point distributor, rejetted the holley dual feed carb, put on adjustable rocker arm shafts, and was able to get the car in the low 14's in the quarter. I had to drive it to work on the hihway so I could not put a low rear gear in it. The car was really tourqey and I ran a pair Montgomery Wards recapped slicks on the weekends for matches. I alwas kept them I n trunk and raced with the street tires in the trunk for traction ballast. These cars were light in the rear end. Heavey cast iron block on the 390. The car really sounded awesome and was really strong on the big end. I sold it with 55000 miles on it in 1971 when I got out of Army and bought a 69 ro adrunner 383 727 auto, a little faster than the Ford, but nomore fun than thst beautiful copper colored 66 GTA, what a beautiful ride to have at 18years old I am going to 74 soon and still miss the thrill of that big block ford!
Love a Ford Fairlane . I wish I would have bought one when I was younger. but now that I'm a mechanic for most of my life I will buy one and restore it I want to put a 390 cubic inch.
Grew up and learned to drive on Mom's '66 Ford Ranch Wagon and Dad's '67 Galaxie 500....both 289 2bbls. Man....those 2 cars took the ferocious abuse that I gave 'em now and again. Total respect. Always loved the lines of these Fairlane 2drs. Always LOVED the color of the blue car....it was kind of a metallic turquoise as I recall. Never saw that many with that color. Anybody know what Ford called that color? Thanks!
Been around racing since 1966 from brackets to Outlaw and NHRA Pro Mod. Was Ford man for many years in my early days of racing and I tell you these two cars are fun to watch and I know you guys enjoy driving them. Curious as to one with a lenco and the other appears to be a liberty why the different transmissions.
Absolutly Best....Ford 427 is mighty engines...they make Ferraris on the knees.....in Nascar...in 60,s Fords was nasty fast...and now...Ford have 5.0 Coyote....one of the best engines. I love fords and chevys...but Ford is Number 1🇺🇸♥️👍👍👍
Thanks for posting, Robert. Great video, I got to know Jim a little after Mega Ford. Good guy, tried to buy a Hi Riser intake off of him. After saying no, he says, 'I'm fat, with a shitty diet and drive fast, just wait'. Do have any video of Dan Ficher? He raced a gold '64 Fairlane post. He's from Redwood City.
Wow! Im a Chevy Man but Im hooked. My Aunt had one of these Fairlanes just like this when I was a kid . and it was a 4spd too and She could drive it . She would get Mad at my uncle and do a Burnout leaving the house . I,ll never forget it .back in the 60s.and hers had two 4bbls , What Motor was that ? Anyone know what it could have been . Please let me know .
Used to have a 66 with a 427 tri pod headers 4 speed miss that car so bad wish I never sold it and had at same time a 66 Mercury cyclone convertible only 1305 of model I had produced and it got stolen still have the title and key's been over 10 year's gone. Both were my dream car's.
Fairlane GTs & GTAs, like their Merc Comet counterparts, were proverbial sleds in-the-day. But their styling design always had it goin' on! I'm no Ford-lover by any stretch of the imagination but these are horses of a different color! Either 1 would be fine in my garage. Very much appreciate the high quality focus & sound!
I remember the 66 Fairlane Thunderbolt from past drags at Kearney, Nebr. and I do believe they were the HiPo 289 but not sure They were quick I remember that
Correction I had 289 Hi Po but in fact they were 427 C,I I did have a friend from Spokane tho with a 65 fastback with 289 HiPo and rated at 271 H,P from factory with solid lifters and he added dual coil ignition with Edelbrock Hi Rise Manifold and big double pumper Holly and it was a mighty fast Mustang that would pop wheelies
Man Grant that FE of your spools instantly. Just wicked throttle response. What is even more impressive is the small block running the numbers of your FE. and only giving up about 100 ci. Quite honestly he may go even faster if he ran a Liberty 5 spd instead of the Lenco. But big props to Robert for the video for sure Go big Blue oval
I wanted a 66 fairlane so bad after graduating from HS in 76. The only one i found that i could afford was a 6 cylinder automatic 4 door. Oh well it was still a 66 fairlane and it was mine.
Was this at SIR or Pacific Raceway Park in Kent? That was my favorite track. I ran a 10:93 at 132 mph in my 1970 Dodge Challenger 440+six pak there in 1975.
@@RFedyk Do you have any film of Kay Murakamis Blue Fairlane? I think Earl has sort have stopped racing. I would love to have you share any of Kay’s car. If you. dio can you just send it to TommyT( Tommy Moore)
I remember Jim Waldo from Tri Cities and his Green 427 Fairlane in Stock Eliminator in the Pacific Northwest. Later a Mustang with 427 I believe. Could have been Super Stock but I think it was A/S.
Bow tie boys are saying, " Yeah, well I can build a 283 that will do the same for $500.00"...... Was that a 57 T-Bird in the staging lane at 8 minutes?
My neighbors have one, its been setting since the 70s but it's straight and looks solid but she says not for sale every time I ask. I'm a Mopar man but I own a 66 2door custom 500 and I hate to see a cool car like the GT Fairlane just set there. I'm gonna ask again, maybe she will eventually say yes and someone can save it and put it back on the road..
That white Fairlane is just all attitude that engine just screams even your other car and the other Tulane got half-track Lead that fairly just said ain't no way you're Crossing that line before I do 😂

Two really nice fairlanes that launch really well. Gotta love em!
That was the coolest side by side launch ever! In two of the nicest cars!
These cars choke me up! Beautiful work Robert!
Get the women, kids and Chevys off the streets. Love those 66-67 Fairlanes.

A factory stock 390 GT 4 speed. In Red. Thank You.
My uncle had a 66 fairlane and he wrecked it.
It would very cool to find one that had been parked away for forty years or so, no?

Once again a GREAT video Robert! Great to see these two quick Fords at the BC Super Shifters race at Mission! THANKS!
Outstanding performances 👏
This made my day!
Awesome camera work, much appreciated
Nothing like FE power! 390 block, 428 crankshaft, 428 medium riser cylinder heads, roller rockers, and go have some fun!

Wow, if you had that car today ‼️ Was it white ❓ If so, it was likely one of the 50 or so that were built in ‘67 for racing...
Great video. Thanks for posting.

Small block, definitely not FE. White one is a FE, sounds like a engine.
Awesome kick ass Fords !!! curious, what were they red lined at ? Big block / small block, great video !!!
Timothy Leonard Droege; Looks like both cars are hitting 8,000rpms? Awesome
scarelane = i mean beautiful = but freeky powerful !
That was awesome he dialed in an 8.90 and ran 8.92 with the teal Fairlane first race. really solid

Has anyone heard of Jim Waldo ? He raced a 1966 or 1967 fairlane in SS/ ??. I’ve been trying to find stories about him for years . Thanks
seen him race at Mission for many years, I think his son races an older Mustang now
Good stuff ✔️

Bad ass Fairlanes.
Super Shifting!!!
great video bud
Foreign guy. Inquiry. Are there major differences between 66/67 Fairlane tudors and Galaxies of the same vintage??? TWo doors are rare where I am from
Fairlanes were considered “midsized”, whereas the Galaxies were a lager car, longer wheelbase, etc. 👍🇺🇸
Bow tie boys are saying, " Yeah, well I can build a 283 that will do the same for $500.00"...... Was that a 57 T-Bird in the staging lane at 8 minutes?
Greatest sticker I ever saw on a race car was on a Hemi powered 68 road runner at West Palm Beach. "Only wimps wear bowties" . Nuff said.
That was pretty much full track Head start
Where can. I see the fairlane in. Real life

Is that a factory Ford blue?
Yes, looks exactly like my '67 Fairlane's original color which is Clearwater Aqua Metallic
