It’s crazy how to Lorne (the creator of oddworld) this game is rushed and wasn’t what he had truly “invisioned” it to be. Yet this game is easily one of the most nostalgic to me and also one of my favorites of all time! The new ones, not so much.

GAME! This is so good. Oddysee was good but this was longer (2 discs), harder (despite the better save feature), and more vibrant. I remember when I was about 21 me and my pal used to spend entire weekends playing games and not sleeping and we started this one on a Friday and finished it Sunday evening. Couldn't go back to those days as I'm too tired now, but it was awesome.

Bro , You Sir Are a Legend . ' for rescuing all 300 modokons. Some of this levels felt near impossible to survive and pass through , let alone take someone else with you.
Personally i see SoulStorm on equal footing to the original as its the original vision of what exoddus was supposed to be, i love both of them :) as for New'n'tasty, yeah as a simple remaster, the original is just better in every way. But Soulstorm i see as very promising :) we'll have to see how the future pans out 😄
True, but graphics are much better. I just didn't realize that Soulstorm was a remastered version of this, the beginning was different which made me confused so I looked it up.

The bane of my existance was the secret before entering the soulstorm brewery terminal, where you had to save 3 mudokons through a high-speed grinder...
Can we agree that the blind Mudokons are the terrifying ones to take care of? It's not just they have no eyeballs and their eyelids stitched together, it's just how you are trying to prevent them from triggering any traps and alarms is the terrifying part. literally.
How Oddworld Inhabitants managed to pull this whole game off in nine months (even eating fruit at the studio to stay healthy and focused) I'll never know....

I agree, while the cutscenes may show it the gameplay seems to be more on the light hearted side of things. im very interested to see how soulstorm plays out but, i dont think it has that dark tone all throughout the game, regardless of what lorne says,
Yeah, if I remember correctly they had to make the whole second game in like 9 months due to the publisher or something. So they decided to keep all the original systems/structure, but just do it bigger and better. Pretty good job isn't it?

Actually Lorne Lanning hates this game out of the entire series of games he was trying to make...not only because his publisher was forcing him to crank out this game, but because he couldn't make it as dark as he wanted to...even the fart bomb mechanic was done only because his staff got drunk one night and decided to put it in the game for giggles... Even though this is my favorite game out of this series, I'm happy he's finally Abe-l to make the game he wanted. Without being restricted by time decided by other people or by technology limitations...and even the era of thinking back then was "video games are for kids, make them for kids." So even if he couldn't make it darker, it might not have been as well received... And I am genuinely excited to see this game get the remake it so desperately deserves.
Man i wish this game and oddysee got rereleased on modern consoles like the switch and ps4 with higher resolutions (new 'n' tasty is a complete from-the-ground-up remake of oddysee, i just want the original games playable on modern consoles, slideshow transitions between screens and all).
I think I broke the game. When I got past both Mudokon trials and entered Fee Co. all the doors at 2:14:40 to the Barracks, Executive Office, Bonewerks and employees only areas were shut. I explored with a possessed fart and saw the SoulStorm Brewery laser fence offline, all the green lights from the other sections blinking, and the doorway to the Brewery completely open, like at 3:44:28. I first did the hidden mudokon rescue side mission, but when I returned it was still that way. I think I'm going to have to load a save from back in the trials, and see what happens when I enter feeco again, otherwise I won't be able to get all 300 mudokons

I'm working on a new Tool Assisted speedrun of this game and so far I had to change how I do the Phleg Ender level as the glitched Phleg can cause a corruption in Hub 2 in Zulag 8 and Zulag 7. Now I have fixed the corruption I have to re-input everything and sometimes I run into new desyncs on the emulator but I'm getting close to where I was before I inputed the new Phleg skip that doesn't crash the game. It's been 5 years since the first 100% TAS of Exoddus was made and most of it was done by a Brazilian guy called Dooty. I am getting closer every day to beating his TAS time!

Nope this game tends to give better rewards for actively killing most of the mudokons. You get invinsibility if you kill every one that you dont have to save in order to progress.
the amount of patience and skill to achieve this feat... i'm 25 now and haven't played since i was 10 or so. there is so much i missed as a young gamer xD it's incredible to see how many times you must've failed to finally perfect your strategies for each obstacle.

Always wondered at the very end 5:26:10 when you turn the final valve you fall past a floor with 3 bombs on the floor and a bird chant but it never gets used... wonder where it would take you
That's the location for the bad ending. If you haven't saved enough mudokons, the trapdoor with the 3 UXBs will be closed and you have to take the bird portal there.
I just beat this game for the first time ever recently and saved 220 Mudokons. So, did you actually manage to do this without saving the game at any point? If so, that was one hell of a job! What I thought to be next to impossible
This game had amazing echoing. Really made the environments feel massive and coldly industrial.

I love it how at the end when the Mudokons are saluting to the Moon in an epic way, the Dead Guys are like "WTF?".

Always wondered at the very end 5:26:10 when you turn the final valve you fall past a floor with 3 bombs on the floor and a bird chant but it never gets used... wonder where it would take you
That's the location for the bad ending. If you haven't saved enough mudokons, the trapdoor with the 3 UXBs will be closed and you have to take the bird portal there.
I kind of want to know how the game checks if there are enough mudokons saved (150 minimum) to trigger the trapdoor.

I just beat this game for the first time ever recently and saved 220 Mudokons. So, did you actually manage to do this without saving the game at any point? If so, that was one hell of a job! What I thought to be next to impossible
