I remember that episode original when it aired back in the 60s, i completely forgot about Nomad. I still think it would be great with the lights working with the audio as the original Nomad talking. Great build and great job, Loved it 🙂
It’s the voice that makes it! Brings it alive. Not sure I agree with your clients idea to keep the speech lights on but that’s not for us to argue over, taste is subjective, and you’ve done a fantastic job there Boyd, as always.
@@TrekWorks Hi Boyd, cheers for the reply, this is just me thinking out loud as I had an idea: I think it looks fine fully lit as the client wishes, I can see their point whilst it’s just ‘resting’, it makes a more pleasing ‘mood light’ (personally a slow pulse as if it’s asleep but ‘breathing’ would’ve been my choice, but I digress) but as an option around that idea, perhaps having the voice lights blink just as the original did whilst it speaks, then go back to being fully lit once it’s silent again, might look better? Of course, easy to say, harder to do, but in my minds eye it’s a good compromise between home display aesthetics and screen accuracy. Would that be difficult? What do you think?
@@TrekWorks oh ok, cool, well that’s an option then, but I’m just spitballing alternate aesthetic options for funzies, of course ultimately it’s up to the client. Cheers Boyd! I look forward to seeing your next project.
This is incredible....it's nomad all the way u did an amazing job Boyd .....the audio clips just bring him to life he sounds so cool ...I AM NOMAD that gave me chills lol 🖖😁
That is an awesome build! As usual you worked your unique talent into it to make it a studio grade prop. Your client should be proud to display it in his home or office. Looking forward to seeing your next video!
Really excellent work! The electronics are tricky for this model since there's so many lights and voice syncing. I like your solution to get all of that put together. I'm glad you got one of these kits for yourself. They don't come along very often.
Thanks, the electronics worked out pretty well and didn't cost very much at all. After seeing how it comes out I'm super glad I got an extra kit and I'm really looking forward to building my own version. BTW, I canceled the Fanhome Enterprise D after considering everything that it would have needed to correct it's issues. They are re releasing the Deagostini M-Falcon so I'll be doing that one instead. There is a lot of really cool aftermarket stuff available for it since it first came out.
@@TrekWorks I can't wait for you to build your Nomad! It's a great replica kit! Yeah that Enterprise D kit is terrible. I'm actually surprised Fanhome decided to distribute that kit considering how flawed it is. I think you would have been very disappointed with it so it's good that you canceled it. That Millennium Falcon is tempting for sure! It looks amazing! I'm about to finish the R2-D2 this month. I have to upload the latest video and then I should be getting the final parts pack in a couple of weeks. I just hope everything works! 🙏
Excellence of execution I really love this buid among all your other beautiful creations, I want to ask you how I can commision a build of the Nomad probe if you can get back at your convenience thanks God bless
Fantastic build! Can you provide a link to where you got the lithium ion battery? I could use one for a different project and I’m not having a lot of luck. Thanks!
@@TrekWorks Very cool! I’m on my second refit build and these are extremely helpful. A nice close up of how you trim down the nacelle supports that cause the gap issue would be amazing. The way you used that perfect putty on the saucer rims was excellent. I tried that and outside of the vertical seams I managed to remove the seam line and preserve my sensor bands. Thanks!
You should have the upper lights flashing in tune and sync with the voice. I seem to remember it that way as well, and the left and right upper lights alternated according to the dialogue. I think?
The lights do sync with the voice. As I explained, my client requested background lighting there so it's a little harder to see the synced lights working. If the background lighting wasn't there, they would go dark when the voice isn't speaking. That is how I will build my version when I get around to it.
Wow! Boyd fantastic build. It truly is Nomad.
Only thing to make it better would be to have it shiver when it’s overloading and have smoke come out. 😁
This build turned out great! I really enjoyed watching it come together. Thanks for bringing us along.

Great work as usual. I'm always watching for a new videos to see what magic you have completed.

Thanks, yes, the customer gets what they want. I'll probably do my own the way it was originally.

I'm sure a control board could be done that would do those effects. @@Lumibear.

That looks awesome. Just a really cool model for sure.
Wow! THATS HOW YOU DO THAT!! CONGRATS
Awesome work on this! I never would have guessed it was slightly underscaled, as it looks freakin enormous.
This is epic. Someone made a virtual Nomad in Second Life and I bought it for myself because I've always thought he was cool, too.
This is great, Boyd ! I wish I had the funds to get this (and that my wife would let me keep it in the house !!!!)
What a fun build project Boyd! It looks like you captured the essence of the plucky little mad probe!

Fantastic job Boyd looks and sounds awesome.

That's awesome 👌

Cool, I've been looking for a way to sterilize soil samples!

Just search ebay for rechargeable 12 V battery. All kinds of options there for reasonable prices.
@@TrekWorks Thank you!
My boy!!!
Awesome!
Did you plan on finishing that new refit build series? The one you had going was extremely helpful.
Oh yes, I just a few client related projects that came first. More updates on the Refit coming soon.

@TrekWorks Ah I see. I thought it might be the lighting in the room. Looking forward to your build. Well done BTW.
Are you sure that is not the Romulan cloaking device? Or the M-4 guardian robot?
Hi there do you build these for others? If so, what does something like this cost very interested thanks.
Now you just need to have it hover in the air hehehe
Awesome have you ever thought to try and turn the 1/350 polar lights NX-01 into the refit version of the NX-01?
There used to be a resin conversion kit out there a few years ago. Can't remember who made it.
as scary as the original !!!!!
Wasnt the upper panel lights to flash... when he spoke? I thought so. Its great though.. anyone would love to display and enjoy this.. wow.
Where is it's ticking noise?
Impressive work.
