  • This video shows my first ever attempt at 3D printing using the Any Cubic Vyper filament type printer. My goal is to print a complete 42 inch model of the Classic Disney Nautilus submarine from 20,000 Leagues under the sea.

This looks great...a lot better than I would have thought for a filament printer. I built the garage kit Nautilus, and in many ways this is nicer. One tip...you can find appropriately sized jewelry cabochons for the small salon windows, which might work well for you, depending on your lighting needs.

OUTSTANDING! BTW, a few years ago, I went to Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry, and they had lowered their JU-87 Stuka dive bomber from the ceiling for cleaning. They chose to do a laser scan on the plane (down to .04 mm!). Would it be possible to access such to do a 3D printing of same? THAT would be AWESOME!

In Cura I like to use "tree" supports. I find it's good enough support and prints the bare minimum of extra filament so helps with print time as well. Plus they break away from the model very easily when finished.

3D printing is fun. I bought the same printer. So far I have gone through 5 rolls of filament with zero printer issues. The only issues are those caused by not understanding support and all those other stupid settings. These things should be as simple as using a laser printer. Maybe AI software will fix these issues in the future.

I am just now moving in to resin printing. It's messier and harsh chemicals are involved that are used for parts cleanup. It is more tedious but high definition resin printers produce better results with zero print lines and the ability to create super fine crisp details on very small parts.
