Well, we'll see how the CRJ fares this time! 1:04 Nice taxi shot! 1:10 Boarding the old-fashioned way! Neat! 2:37 Nice takeoff! How does the thrust on this bird compare to the ERJ 145, weight not factoring? 4:25 Looks like the window was pretty well in line with your seat this time..... 12:36 So after surfing the clouds for the majority of the flight, we get a nice peak down at the parting patches! Very cool! 16:36 I see evidence of a not-so-clean window. Sad to see it....Oh, well! 17:23 Look at all of those lovely residences of the DFW area! God Blessed Texas! 18:10 Wow....those CRJ flaps sure do bend down a fair bit....more than I see on most ERJ's. 20:20 Looks like another smooth landing on 17C! How was the taxi? 22:09 Are those thrust barriers? Designed to deter any extra thrust up and away to prevent injury or other disaster? And you end with a perfect shot of the ERJ 145 rolling in! Sweet! Looks like a beautiful flight from start to finish! All those clouds sure does make for a sweet flight! Great job, buddy!
You know how much I like CRJs... That being said this was a nice flight. CRJs aren't horrible if you can get one of the 3 seats on the plane that has a window where it's supposed to be. Even though I am not a huge fan of CRJs I am very happy to see my home airport getting so much traffic that they need a larger aircraft. I just wish it was a ERJ-175 instead :D. Maybe one day. At 1:10 JLN actually has jetways, but since this was a new airplane for the ground crew they parked it a bit short of where it needed to be, and the jetway wouldn't fit. I'm not complaining though. I enjoy boarding the old fashioned way. At 2:37 obviously, as you've seen, I have flown on ERJ-145s and CRJ-700s many times. I never realized how much more powerful the CRJ-700 was until I took this flight. I have flown out of JLN on ERJ-145s dozens and dozens of times. So I'm very familiar with the way a takeoff feels on a ERJ-145 out of JLN. The CRJ-700 actually really impressed me with how quickly it was able to takeoff. Having flown both of them out of the same airport that I am very familiar with made me realize the CRJ-700 has a lot more power on takeoff than the ERJ does. JLN has a relatively short runway at just 6,500 ft (half the size of the runways at DFW). The ERJ-145 was always about 3/4 of the way down the runway before it lifted off. I don't even think the CRJ used 1/2. At 4:25 like I mentioned above. The CRJ isn't bad when you get one of the 3 seats on the plane that has the seat aligned right with the window. At 12:36 you know what they say. And the skies are not cloudy all day. Oh wait that's the Kansas state song not Texas. At 16:36 yes unfortunately there were quite a few scratches on this window. It wasn't horrible, but as you can see it was bad enough for the camera to pick it up. At 17:23 the lone start star state! You know I lived in Texas before I moved up here. At 18:10 they do indeed. The ERJs bend down pretty far as well, but they often times don't use all the flaps when landing the ERJ. These were maxed out on this landing. At 20:20 quite long as usual. It took us about 30 minutes on this one to get to the gate and the seatbelt sign off. As American has grown their operation at DFW the airport has developed a bad habit of long taxi times. At 22:09 yes they are. The highway that splits DFW in half, and the service roads run right on the other side of that wall, so as you pointed out they were designed to help direct the engine exhaust up so it doesn't hit the traffic. I liked the last shot. As we finished one of the first CRJ-700 flights out of JLN the aircraft it replaced shows up! Thanks for watching man!
I know this is the exact same route I posted yesterday, but I wanted to post this video as soon as possible! This was one of the very first CRJ-700 departures from JLN, and it may not seem like much but since JLN is my home airport this was a big deal. Six years ago JLN only had two flights per day on Great Lakes Airlines (Beech 1900Ds) to Kansas City... American Airlines decided to give JLN a shot, and picked up the essential air service contract by starting two flights per day to DFW. Six years later they have now upgraded the twice daily ERJ-145s to CRJ-700s, and will upgrade the service again in April to the CRJ-900. I'm thrilled that American took a chance on JLN, and it is paying off for them. Flights are full, tickets are decently priced, and the service is expanding. It's great to see your home airport growing when at one point it looked like the major airlines would never return. Enjoy this quick flight to DFW on the CRJ-700.
Oh yes.... I am well aware of Mesa's atrocious record. I have never flown on a Mesa flight that wasn't delayed for maintenance. It's no secret that American would like to get away from having Mesa fly for them, but their other regional providers don't have the pilots or the planes to cover what Mesa operates. Personally I would prefer Envoy kept operating the flights into JLN with the CRJ-700s. Overall I'm just happy to see the airport growing like it is for American. For awhile American had ExpressJet operating the flights from JLN-DFW and back. They also suffered from frequent maintenance delays, and I was glad when Envoy took it back. However, as bad as ExpressJet was Mesa is worse. I have heard people say that Mesa stands for "Makes ExpressJet Seem Acceptable." So I am looking forward to the service out of JLN growing. I am not necessarily looking forward to that happening with Mesa. Anyways! Thanks for watching my friend!
Skylite Productions it's always a good sight when the smaller regional airports are growing. I remember when I still worked at XNA, we had Mesa for about 8 months before I left and only like 4 or 5 on time flights from what I can remember. It's awful. Hope all is well man, keep the videos coming, always awesome to see the view from the opposite side of the terminal and plane windows.
Most of my Mesa flights were out of XNA, so I'm with you on that. Luckily with the 175 maintenance facility at XNA you now see a lot of them down there. Which is great since the 175 is my favorite regional jet. Thanks again for watching my friend! Plenty more to come!
Skylite Productions I got out of XNA lol. On to bigger and better things. I'm actually with Southwest over in Nashville now. XNA will always hold a spot dear to my heart though. Good group of people that make that place run. Especially on the Envoy side
Thanks my friend! I'm glad you are enjoying them. I get to fly quite often. Not everyone gets the opportunity to fly as often as I do, so I post these so people who don't get to fly as often can enjoy it! Thanks for watching man!
Does the long taxi time of over 15 minutes (not shown) bother you? BTW the AOA entrance seen at 22:03 will soon be closed and relocated to north of taxiway Y due to impending TEX Rail construction. Hard to fathom the Terminal B station ready by September '18 when construction hasn't even started yet.
Typically no. I've gotten used to the long taxi times at DFW. I flew thorough DFW yesterday and the day before. Both times I had taxi times that lasted over 30 minutes. Almost 40 minutes on the way back through. That's a 40 minute taxi for a flight that was only 56 minutes. I have started booking long layovers at DFW, and I usually go to the Admirals Club in terminal D to spot anytime I have extra time. Also I didn't know any of the info about the TEX Rail, so that' all news to me. Thanks for that!
Well I don't remember exactly for sure, but if they offer cookies I always go for them over the pretzels. This was in the afternoon so my beverage of choice would've been Coca Cola. Thanks for watching my friend.

Skylite Productions all I'll say with the 900s is get ready for delays. They're operated by Mesa and they are atrocious.
Oh yes.... I am well aware of Mesa's atrocious record. I have never flown on a Mesa flight that wasn't delayed for maintenance. Great wing view, great video! Liked and subbed! :)
Thank you my friend! I have subbed to your channel as well :D.
Skylite Productions Thanks a lot!! :D
