These are the first images of John Paul II's remains being removed from the Vatican Grottoes. His body will be moved to it's new resting place in St. Peter's basilica in the chapel of St. Sebastian after the beatification ceremony. .

cyn harman , it is what is known as remorse of conscience, not to be confused with contrition. They hate in others what they have lost , faith in God and do not understand He is at the doorway waiting for them to show the slightest sign of contrition.

Look up the meaning of saint and see those are titles reserved to a spiritual Catholic life. The degree of which is not of the common amongst us in the eye of the Catholic Faith. I am sure that there is room in people with a good soul to be o.k. with this. I respect all opinions having stood by these saintly people on earth.

If they are moving him, then "he" must still be in his grave. If moving his body means they are moving "him", then he didn't go to Heaven. If "he" is still in his grave, then he is in the same place of torment as the rich man in Jesus' parable about the Lazerus who died of starvation outside the rich man's gates. Hmm. The wording of things like this are not so carefully chosen....

One who dies in the state of friendship with God (the state of grace) will go to heaven. The one who dies in a state of enmity and rebellion against God (the state of mortal sin) will go to hell.
St John Paul 2 was a pure man of God. Didn't realize they moved his body for beatification. Not to be funny but would loved to see him and Billy Graham go on tour together. Both men were very Holy and humble.
Apparently no one has the capacity to know right from wrong at birth, otherwise good parents would not be required to correct their children so frequently. All that an infant knows at birth is how to suckle, cry, expel waste, and sleep. That's all.

I don’t follow any religion. (They are all very flawed, especially Christian religions.) but from Catholic Church there have been some of the best pieces of art. Latin holy music is some of the best music ever composed, and the greatness of the architecture is phenomenal.

It's about belief in the resurrection of the body - that on the Last Day we will be raised body and soul to new life. Since Pope John Paul II has been declared "Blessed" (stage one of being declared a saint), his body is worthy of veneration. It's traditional.

During all the televised programming before his funeral the media kept saying over and over again how he wanted not to be a embalmed and buried below in the dirt. I didn't see the dirt and he is in a coffin????? I am confused.

It was his close friend and later pope benedict that ordered all bishops take a vow of silence on sex abuse. Thinking of the church and clergy and not the poor boys and girls who were raped by perverted clergy. He was not and is not a saint. John Paul was human, and had many faults including turning a blind eye to paedophiles in the church. Open your eyes and seen. Now I will admit he did some good deeds, but paedophilia in the church was not helped by his ignoring the problems.

Dear Madam, I remember very well the summer when he was elected. Three popes in one year, it was strange, and my sister, which really liked Johannes Paul I, still says she thinks it was something strange which made him leave the earth.
My best friend is catholic, and she adored Johannes Paul II. She used to call him 'the old Pope, our right one'. She learned to love benedict, too, and now she likes Franziskus, but she was Born in 1970, and Johannes Paul II was the Pope she remembered from her childhood.
It must be relly lovely for a believer, to see again anything related to the Pope, which had left earth many years ago. I am happy to meet you, and to see how much you enjoyed :) He was blessed to have such a lovely Lady like you in his church :)
I hope, you will have a very Long, healthy, and happy life. But when one day you will leave earth, I know, when you met all your beloved ones, which have waited for you impatiently, the dear 'old Pope' will come and tell you, he is happy to meet you at last :)

Let me put this to everyone, no-one should be disrespecting other leaders of the church, no matter what your denomination. For example, I may not like the Baptist or other denominations, but I still respect them because they are a different form of God's Church. They are not worshiping him, they are paying him their respects before the beatification.
