To be fair with Sebastian he _said_ his dream was to move to the city, but what he actually wanted was to get away from his family and find someone that genuinely cares for and respects him. Moving to the city is just the only way he sees to potentially achieve that, unless the farmer gives that to him.
Yeah, he's pretty depressed in his windowless basement. You'd think his mother, being the town carpenter, could add a little natural light for her son.
@@ameliaduncan3236 half the reason why i'm working on marrying him in my playthrough is so that I can get him in my house and then add a bunch of windows. For now I've just settled with giving him a Sims 4 version where he and his partner run off to San Myshuno and live in an apartment with their cat Trashbag who they found in a dumpster (she's a tortie or calico with mismatched eyes if memory serves right)
@@thedailyembarassmentI recall Robin mentioning that one of Demetrius' experiments went wrong and caught on fire, but that thankfully the house didn't catch on fire because she had used fire resistant varnish.
It's even sadder when Robin and Maru are happy for Sebastian after you marry him but Demetrius' first thought is turning his bedroom into an extention for his lab. And he doesn't even acknowledge it as Sebastian's bedroom, just "the basement"??
maybe the update changed it, but i married sebastian during 1.6 and the first thing he said was "congrats" followed by him saying "robin's been crying all day she says they're happy tears though" or something along those lines.
In Robin and Demitrius’ bedroom book shelves you can find two books that are something along the lines of “wood carving for pros” and “how to raise your step son” or something similar showing the Damitrius dose care, at least a little.
@@MR.Salt7 Its still super weird that there isnt any in-game dialogue that mentions it though, like the easter egg is cute- it would be cool to have more heart events where you see Demetrius trying to bond/reach out to Sebastian. Gives you a better reason to pursue a friendship with Demetrius too- to see that story evolve I guess? Think it may fix some players' perception of him.
but he like never sits there... i wish there was an animation of him sitting at his desk at the farmhouse..... and when you interact with him, he'd say something like "just working on some coding projects."
That's when Sebby moves in with you after marriage. But it's still sad that he calls it "the basement" rather than "Sebastian's former bedroom" at least.

@@timothycunningham252 Sucks is a strong word. Pam is doing the best she can in a bad situation. Shes given up half of her trailer so her daughter can have a private space, forcing her to sleep on the kitchen bench of all places. She only snaps at Penny for moving her things around, which Penny isn't apologetic for. Yes she drinks and lives in a trailer, but she never misses a work day or drinks on the job after the bus is fixed (which she has no control over) and is working with a lot of depresion since her daughter doesn't hide the fact that she is ashamed of her. Penny herself has a steady job and would be able to find a way to get her own place, even renting a room in someone elses house, but instead she just constantly hints about how she hates it. Robin would surely throw up a new shack like Leah and Elliot have if she asked. I understand Penny was written from the ground up to be the 'girl that we save' in the harem - but she has absolutely no motivation to better her life alone. (Besides with how many emeralds I gave her she could buy the whole town by now...)

@@star.surfer9446 I am not saying it isn't a terrible situation. I am saying that both of them have flaws and struggle to find middle ground. I simply don't like when people demonise one character in order to place other ones on pedestals. There isn't a single character in the game that doesn't have bad points- thats what makes it good characterisation.
It always bothered me about love interests essentially giving up on their dreams. Abigail wants to be an adventurer, so it would have been really cool if you could introduce her to Marlon and the guild, and even have the option of bringing her into the mines or skull cavern a follower. Just one example. Would have been neat that if after marriage you could have small quests where you help your spouse achieve a part of their dream.
I didn't choose her but I im seeing not many did I chose penny im just glad to see a different choice over Shane or Elliot Abigail isn't bad at all she was my seeing choice I just didn't want the super nice penny to deal with her mom anymore also I fuel her mom's alcohol addiction especially when i go to the desert
If it makes you feel any better about Abigail, you can find her in a lower level of the mine as a high-level heart event. She keeps adventuring and gets better, and since it's an event dependent on you developing a strong relationship with her, you can easily argue that your support encouraged her to keep improving.
Abigail isn't an adventurer to begin with. She just likes to claim to be one. She is scared of spiders and bats, uses every possible reason why she just couldn't go adventuring. Abby is just a big wanna-be.
she literally gets to do whatever she wants when you marry her, she goes to the mines all the time. plenty of adventure to be had when you yourself, her spouse, are an adventurer.
But it’s really not true, most of them DON’T give up on their dreams, Sebastian doesn’t give up on his, going to the city is more so getting away from the family, Harvey realized he wanted something else/hides the real thing kinda. Really, only Shane and Alex truly give up on their dreams, Shane’s events show he’s trying to change, and somewhat does, but his regular dialogue kind of doesn’t, and Alex’s dream could’ve simply been a cover due to the loss of his parents, but his still seems rather abrupt when the event just previously, he doesn’t make a mention of wanting to quit, and in fact wants to try harder if I remember right.
Then there's THAT scene with Shane... That one hit me hard because Shane feels like they took my dad and put him in the game. when I first got that scene, my dad was in a really bad spot with his depression and had picked up drinking and my dad is also named Shane. At first this put me off the character for a while but I also think it's why I like Shane's arch so much, I never marry him because again he reminds me too much of my dad, I love watching him finally being happy again. It gave me hope when I thought for sure I was going to come home one night to my dad no longer being there. Now my dad is doing a lot better! He still has his bad days, but they're getting farther apart and less of them all together! I'm so proud of him ❤️
Is it the dock scene? Because i straight up; just started the game for the first time and was going to go for someone else, but I got that scene after his birthday and now I'm questioning everything T.T
I feel similarly about Haley! She reminds me a lot of my younger sister and the first time I got to see her open up in-game was really sweet. I'm never going to romance her but her character arc is one of my favorites.
Something random that always drove me nuts about Demetrius (aside from the Seb stuff) is his “Tomatoes are a fruit” high horse. I’m an agriculture/botany nerd, so I know a lot about plant anatomy and how they’re classified both scientifically and culturally. Yes, tomatoes are the fruit of the plant. HOWEVER, vegetables don’t exist scientifically- they’re the cultural term for a ton of different edible parts of plants, depending on the plant. For example, carrots are roots, broccoli are unopened flower buds, lettuce are leaves, and asparagus are stems. But they’re all considered vegetables because all a vegetable is is the edible part of the plant. Therefore, a tomato CAN be a vegetable, and someone who does agricultural science as a career should know that and not be such a jerk to his wife about it
@@susanwindiarinirodgers1269 Sort of? Fruits are *usually* excluded from vegetables because the scientific classification of fruit is a bit more specific and clear (the fleshy part of a tree that contains seeds). However, since vegetable isn’t a scientific term, it’s much more lenient and can contain plenty of fruits, like tomatoes and bell peppers. At that point it’s more based on culinary standards.

the moment our character met robin I was like "wait, there's romance in this game right? I want her!" so imagine the pain I felt when I discovered her house. The pain of seeing Willy be non-romanceable is a close second to that heartbreak tho
@@slipiest-adv_7000 Same, I love Elliot. He's so sweet and kind to the farmer from the get go and in order to even be on the boat you have had to go so far out of your way to romance him. I just checked and holy sh** Demetrius really never talk even once about his stepson. He have about 4 lines about Robin, 7 about Maru and even one about Harvey but absolutely nothing about his son. Their schedule meet but he never even mentioned him once. Damn that's sad
I mean, he does talk about Sebastian at least once, as far as I know.. After you marry Sebastian, Demetrius says, how happy he is he can use his stepson's basement as an extension to his laboratory ;>.
@@Parasolhyena But is he even reading it though? Or he might just be like "Oh, look, I have this book, so you can't say I'm not trying" just to say he does something... Or he might have gotten this book from Robin. Maybe he did bought it at one point and just forgot it's there and never read it, or perhaps he did read some of it, but just thought it was all bs and he knows better. Either way, he clearly doesn't care enough to actually follow the advices in the book.
That first one is _why_ I married Sebastian in one of my save files in the first place Get him out of that dank basement where he's never acknowledged and into a nice big house with a (potentially) rich farmer who treats him decent
I wish there was a dialogue option during Demetrius' tomato cutscene that's like "you're right about tomatoes being fruit, but literally anybody who cares about anything besides making a point would not buy tomatoes when fruit is requested. Stop being an arrogant dork and talk to your stepson for once."
I don’t think it’s “giving up on their dream.” Think of the scene in Up, where Carl opens the adventure book to the “stuff I’m going to do” part thinking it was empty, but Ellie had filled it with photos of their blissful married life. Her dream changed from going to paradise falls, to living her life with the love of her life. Falls or not. I feel like that logic can be applied to the stardew spouses
In one of Sebastion events he talks about how his work from home job isnt taken serious by anyone, but his parents take Maru being a nurse/assistant serious.
Yeah his 2 heart. When robin says Abigail is coming, seb askes ‘did you tell her I was working?’ And robins like ‘yeah but she said she’d come anyways ‘ like even his friends don’t see his work as legit
Wow its almost like he couldve used the income from that totally legit and completely serious job and move out from his mom's basement since he hates it there so much
My sister and I got a phone on our farm, and hat mouse was the first one to call us to tell us about deals for hats! Both of us started crying and immediately had to drop everything to buy hats!
I love Sebastian. The moment i saw him, i was like "mm yes emo man" but hes so much more than that. Hes literally perfect for me and i love his little thing with his frogs. He has a pretty good happy ending too
Most bachelor/ettes do continue pursuing their dreams. There's like a few that give it up, but that's because they realize that was not their actual dream. Sebastian is the only one I remember who actually gives up his dream to move to the city, but he does it because he realized what he wanted, a life in the valley wasn't as stale as his head made it out to be. Sam continues to pursue music as a children's cartoon composer in his 10 heart (?) event. Leah continues her art, Haley continues her photography, Abigail gets exactly what she wants getting to live the life of adventure, Harvey gave up on his dreams long ago, Alex's dreams of becoming a sports star was never his real goal, he was just using it to mask his actual feelings about his missing parents, Elliot continues his writing, Shane fails at his dream because he won't put all his effort into it, Maru is able to invent and build without the overprotective eye of her father, I really don't know what Emily's goals are but she keeps up her fashion design, and Penny getting freedom from her mother. Edit: I feel like people don't quite get what I'm saying about Shane. As a *romance* candidate, he does not fulfill his dreams. His dreams are to stop drinking, be a better godfather, and take care of his chickens. Yet his marriage room is filled with beer cans. Even after his 14 heart event, where he gets upset at the player for assuming he goes to drink at the saloon but is actually playing arcade games, he still has dialogue referencing drinking alcohol, "I'm just gonna have a couple more beers before closing my eyes for the night," -Shane, indoor nights after marriage. I got that dialogue every night after marrying him. Not to mention, he does say he wants to be a good godfather to Jas but after he marries the player, he moves onto the farm and barely interacts with Jas again, the only time he goes to Marnies farm is for his chickens. Speaking of chickens, you do not need to marry him to get a blue chicken. You just need 8 hearts. It might be easier to get them after marrying him, but you can just as easily purchase one from Marnie. Shane is better off at 8 hearts because that's when he begins to turn his life. I'm not saying you can't marry him if you really want to, I'm just saying he does not really go through with fulfuilling his dreams
You make a good point, tho I gotta defend Shane a little. Yeah he didn’t have any dreams or goals in the beginning but at least to me, his story reads more as finding a goal and pride in domestic living. His goal becomes being a better Godfather to Jas, being helpful to others around him like Marnie, and of course raising his blue chickens that are way too cute
@@jillian7206Exactly! The whole point of his arc is that he didn't have any goals because he didn't think he'd live long enough for them to matter, which is a hugely common pitfall for people with depression to fall into. It doesn't matter that he doesn't have some lofty life goal or new job by the end, because healing isn't linear. The farmer bonds with him, knowing full well his issues, with the goal of helping him figure himself out, and it's important to note that your love doesn't fix him -- even after you marry, "completing" his story, he still drinks, but not as much; he still has bad days, but the good ones are beginning to outweigh them; and so on. His goal isn't something future-minded and tangible like Sam's dream of making music or Elliot's dream of becoming a famous author. It's literally just "find enjoyment in life again." And he's figuring that out, piece by piece. :)
Thanks sm for making this comment, I’m a new player and I was so afraid I was gonna make Maru give up on her dreams :( I’ve also been spending a lot of time at their house and I’ve been wondering about Sebastian. I didn’t even realize he was Robin’s son, I though he just kinda lived there. That’s so sad, I’m gonna try and be friends with him now
I wish we could be the insufferable in law to Demetrius. He tried to pull that casual intimidation on us while romancing his daughter as if we aren't farmers who fight in the mines for a living.
Honestly, fr, we could clap him in a second XD. Idk, I would be a little worried, trying to threaten someone with a scythe in their hands.. Or a pitchfork, or an axe, pickaxe or a ducking sword XD.
Yes and it's crazy to me that it's only the 2-heart event! Like I wasn't even romancing her...I have a boyfriend (three actually but who's counting?). All I did was give her 1 birthday present and I'm getting threatened?
True! When that even happened I was like “sir calm your tits, I don’t give a fudge about your daughter, I’m here for that gorgeous emo gamer boy downstairs”
I remember playing stardew valley YEARS ago and accidentally shutting the opening for my coop and then I checked the chickens the next morning and one of them was missing. Reading the other descriptions on my other chickens, I found it was saying that my chickens were afraid of something that had happened last night truly a mortifying moment, especially cause she was my first chicken :(
@@HazbinCovenWitch No no, it happens if you shut the doors while an animal is still outside. This can happen if you stay on the farm from 4pm-2am because some animal AIs will not head to the barns/coops. I've seen one of my cows and one of my ducks just chilling asleep in the grass at 8pm. I left the cell by leaving the farm and came back and they appeared in the buildings(doors open). If you close the doors without changing cells first(doesn't work with the barns/coops) they'll get locked outside and have a chance to get eaten.
Until now I realized why my cow was missing, I just had one and it was for 2 weeks and I always forget that you can close the doors, and since I had only 1 animal (the cow) on the barn I couldn't read any other that was afraid of what.
I thought it was just an urban legend. Regardless, I didn't wanna chance it and always tried to get them in. I guess I've gotten lucky because I've closed the door thinking they were all in and never had it happen. Are you safe if you leave the barn door open or is there still a risk if they stay outside with the door open?
Demetrius really is the worst character, bro fumbles every relationship he has. His wife isn't happy, he's crazy helicoptery about his daughter, and can't even acknowledge his stepson.

Context guys. Context...
@Haexxchen Fair, it generally takes 2 to tango a failing marriage, but some of the demetrius specific ones would drive me up the wall. Like the tomato vegetable/fruit scene, how does any adult hear their spouse say fruit and not think a few for snacking in the week, rather a tomato that almost exclusively goes into a specific recipe, in which scenario she'd say specifically a tomato. And he does seem to have genuine favoritism for Maru, despite Seb also working a respectable, educated job. I'd assume Robin being quiet on this to not rock the boat even more. He's not evil, but he's not exactly winning a lot of nice guy points.
@@rauchschwalbelp7693 I know, right? His little radio scene made me cry because of just how real it felt. That bunch of pixels feels like a real person to me, enough to keep me from actually romancing any of the other characters.
You didn’t mention about Alex’s parents - his mother’s sickness and death due to his father. The letter from his mom to her parents was so heartbreaking. 💔
Honestly, if my husband/wife was a farmer that makes more in a day than I make in a month, I would be a housewife too 💀 let me cook, let me clean and make you coffee in the morning if that mean you'll, every now and then, come into the house, give me my favorite thing, skip all my dialogue, kiss me and leave like nothing happened.
Being a sports star was more about proving he wasn't worthless. He doesn't need that to prove himself, he's somebody even if he's not a pro athlete. A stable family is what he really needs (what with his parents and all). Alex still keeps his work out habits and regularly visits his grandparents because of how important family is to him. Often noting how happy he is the kids have it better than he did. 10/10 I will always give him the family life he needed
Don’t forget about Jodi marrying young and having to deal with two children alone in 4 years straight. Oh and the 3 characters who live out of town because the people will “destroy things they don’t know”as all 3 say And Alex has to deal with a homophobic grandfather if you choose to marry him as a guy And Abigail has to deal with 2 parents who think she should stay in the kitchen instead of adventuring And Sam and Vincent having to keep all hope that their father would come back after 4 years And Marnie not being in a very good relationship And Leah having to deal with her ex after leaving the city he is still obsessed Jas being exposed to depression at such a young age and doesn’t understand And krobus in fear that the other shadow people will figure out he’s friends with a human Dang. There is so much trauma in this game for these characters 😭 Edit: thanks for someone correcting me, Leah’s ex is the same gender as your character so y’all can stop trying to correct me 👍
Well I don't know about all their stories but I can confirm that if you marry Alex as a male farmer after a while George will apologize for what he says to you, and also he says "I don't get it. But you make Alex happy and that's enough for me."
I can't say for sure, but for Sebastian I always headcannon that he really isn't giving up on his dreams. He talks about leaving Pelican Town to go to Zuzu City, but in reality, I don't think he'd actually do well working in a cubicle around people in that sort of organized format. In reality, what Sebastian seeks is freedom, independence and recognition. Marrying the farmer, he gets his own space, the freedom to continue is freelancing, the ability to work on his motorcycle and ride it whenever he wants, and basically a rich farmer spouse lmao. I think he actually finds what he wants by marrying you.

Truly, marrying Sebastian I noticed that he is like a creator of the game. Because Sebastian say beautiful phrase about him making his video game, what he always truly wanted to create, and he appreciates that he can focus on things he really enjoy to do and not on earning money. Also (don't know about other characters) he doesn't betray his dream, his dream just changed. It's common and there is nothing bad. I'm glad I'm not the only one that notices Demetrius's detachment from Sebastian. And the only time you hear about Demetrius from Sebastian, it has negative connotations. Like Demetrius getting onto Sebastian, an adult, for building a snow goon, a completely harmless snowman, and removes it. It's honestly heartbreaking. Sebastian's background isn't the worst out of the singles, but it's definitely top three.
THATS WHY I LOVE LEAH!!! her dream is to stay in the valley and just make art. she is truly happy on the farm. plus we actually help her achieve her goals
Marriage candidates that don’t give up and become house spouses: Harvey, Leah, Elliot, Emily. You can argue for Sebastian, I think he starts on a video game when he quits his other computer job since you support him financially?
Sebastian's dream was more likely to escape from his stepdad, he thought the only way he could do that was to move away until the farmer came along and made him feel loved and valued, so I'd say Sebastian didn't give up his dreams, more like found an alternative that gave him happiness too!
Honestly Shane in a way keeps his dream alive. He quits JojaMart, moves onto the farm and still takes care of his blue chickens. He even stays sober during the marriage (if you talk to him at the saloon on Fridays he says “don’t worry it’s jojacola”) Shane just wanted the simple life of raising his chickens
my ideal marriage candidate has always been abby and it’s perfect. her dream was just to adventure and explore the mines. i got the npc adventures mod and she and i go on so many mining expeditions together.
One of the reasons that Shane is my favorite spouse is because his life gets so much better when you marry him. His marriage dialogue shows that he gets a lot of personal fulfillment from being your partner, running the farm, being with his chickens, and being a father. He's also the only marriage candidate who doesn't really have a job after Joja mart closes down.
I recently learned about the wolf thing, apparantley it's super rare since I've had my farm for 6 years (in game) and the event never happened to me. The hat mouse one just made me cry, I'm sorry, Poke
After marrying Sebastian he practically tells me every day how much he loves me or how grateful for me he is that I take care of him and put his needs before mine. He is genuinely so sweet and even tells me how I’ve helped him come out of his shell. His family sometimes makes him feel like an outsider and that’s mainly the reason he’s such an anxious, depressed, antisocial loner. He is the only person that requires FOUR hearts to be able to hang out with him in his bedroom and warm up to you whereas with everyone else it’s mostly 2 or 3. Idk why Sebastian gets so much hate. He’s so sweet when he’s comfortable with you and gives you affection every day and even REASSURES you how much he loves you. I’m never divorcing my baby Seb. He’s a total sweetie pie.
I mean, not all give up on their dreams. (I know leah and elliot dont) Harvey...gave up on his dreams before he became a doctor. So like, no part of my hand in marrying him did that.
I can confirm that Elliot doesn’t actually give up on his dream! While married to him he goes on a (maybe more I haven’t gotten too far into the marriage) book signing tour and sends you letters!
When you marry Elliott he doesn’t give up on his novel and even goes on tour with it when you reach 14 hearts! He writes to you every day for a week straight about his travel to the city.
One of the features in sdv is that villagers will occasionally tell you what gifts their close friends and family love or hate.... except Demetrius will only tell you that about Robin and Maru's preferences, while Robin and Maru will both tell you about Sebastian's (Sebastian won't tell you about Demetrius either)
Number #2 and the thunderstorms/rain making them stay inside to eat is why i will always one. keep their hay full every day, and two NEVER close my doors on coops and barns EXCEPT for the dino coops.
Elliot still writes poems and enjoys my beautiful farm land much more than his small beach shack, I think if he did give up on some sort of dream it’s only because he walked into a new dream, something so rare and full of love, something he’d never give up for 1000000 iridium bars.
I feel like Elliot doesn't give up on his dream, he always wanted to stay in the valley but his writing wasn't going well and you meet him you basically become his muse, cure his loneliness, and give him a great reason to stay in the home that he has grown to love.
That’s why Elliott’s my favorite! He doesn’t give up on his dreams, his ten heart event is literally him following his dreams while still caring for the player :)
Leaving behind their dreams isn’t that sad, because they did it for something they wanted more. If they wanted to accomplish their dreams, probably wouldn’t have married the farmer anyway
I heavily disagree with the Demetrius SDV take. You can want to be a good parent and STILL be abusive to your kids. Trying or not, Demetrius STILL neglects Sebastian and still often acts like a prick at the very least to Robin- not to mention the insane overprotectiveness towards Maru. Does this make him irredeemable? Of course not, but he is not any less abusive because he WANTS to be a good stepdad. Fandoms as a whole NEEDS to move away from the idea that all POC in media need to be morally good. Of course, making all POC villains isn't great either, but defending an abuser just because he's a person of colour isn't actually the just move you think it is. Source: me, a darker skinned POC who was abused by a darker skinned POC who wanted to be a good parent. (Guess what, intentions aren't enough)
I'm pretty sure that Haley doesn't even have a dream, she just likes to enjoy life, and her perspective on how to enjoy life changes over time thanks to you.
I love your shorts! Currently playing year 2 fall for the first time. I love how you don't give spoilers for the game but rather point out the practical and interesting side. :)
NOO HAT MOUSE!!!! SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE A MOD THAT FIXES HAT MOUSE'S HOUSE, AND PLEASE MOVE IT INTO TOWN, OR NEAR MARNIE'S!!! (also please make a mod that fixes the bug on some mods where it doesnt allow you to exit the farm into the bus stop, and requires you to go through town from the mountain to get to the bus stop)
Pretty sure there is a mod for the bus issue 'cause I had it when I got my new modded farm map but I downloaded another called custom farm (or something like that, I can check my files tomorrow and tell you if ya want?) and it fix the issue !
That’s why krobus is amazing! He never had any dreams to begin with and he is honestly the nicest npc in the entire game. He unites his people with the humans and it’s too freaking wholesome. Love krobus.
This is why elliot is peak he still writes his book and even goes on a book tour and sends you the sweetest letters. No giving up on dreams for him and he gets running water on the farm
If there's a fire in the house, Sebby might not have a way to escape 😔
Okay 😢. I'll divorce Haley and marry him instead. "unless the farmer gives it to him" is a very sad line.
It's even sadder when Robin and Maru are happy for Sebastian after you marry him but Demetrius' first thought is turning his bedroom into an extention for his lab. And he doesn't even acknowledge it as Sebastian's bedroom, just "the basement"??
that's heartbreaking ! I love Sebastians room ! especially the sword rug
maybe the update changed it, but i married sebastian during 1.6 and the first thing he said was "congrats" followed by him saying "robin's been crying all day she says they're happy tears though" or something along those lines.

The reason why robin should divorce demetrius😂
Dude damitrius is like “my beloved beautiful daughter!” And what about your step son? “I have that?”
Honestly I think he loves his daughter more than his wife, it doesn’t seem like he loves Robin at all, romantic or not
And will threaten you if you say 2 sentences to his daughter
In Robin and Demitrius’ bedroom book shelves you can find two books that are something along the lines of “wood carving for pros” and “how to raise your step son” or something similar showing the Damitrius dose care, at least a little.

I'm so proud of him ❤️
also screw Demetrius!
Is it the dock scene? Because i straight up; just started the game for the first time and was going to go for someone else, but I got that scene after his birthday and now I'm questioning everything T.T
I didn't read all that
Good luck, or sorry I guess idk
I feel similarly about Haley! She reminds me a lot of my younger sister and the first time I got to see her open up in-game was really sweet. I'm never going to romance her but her character arc is one of my favorites.
@salvatore2004 If you're too lazy to read that, then you shouldn't leave a comment. Otherwise you're just being rude and contradicting yourself
Therefore, a tomato CAN be a vegetable, and someone who does agricultural science as a career should know that and not be such a jerk to his wife about it
I love how even science hates Demetrius
So are all fruits vegetables?
@@susanwindiarinirodgers1269 Sort of? Fruits are *usually* excluded from vegetables because the scientific classification of fruit is a bit more specific and clear (the fleshy part of a tree that contains seeds). However, since vegetable isn’t a scientific term, it’s much more lenient and can contain plenty of fruits, like tomatoes and bell peppers. At that point it’s more based on culinary standards.
So technically, all fruits are vegetables whole not all vegetables are fruit?

I don’t think it’s “giving up on their dream.”
Think of the scene in Up, where Carl opens the adventure book to the “stuff I’m going to do” part thinking it was empty, but Ellie had filled it with photos of their blissful married life. Her dream changed from going to paradise falls, to living her life with the love of her life. Falls or not.

Harvey actually mentions that his ‘secret wish’ was to get married. So he also achieves one of his dreams, in a way.
Shane gets to find himself after starting to recover from alcoholism and severe depression

truly a mortifying moment, especially cause she was my first chicken :(
That never happened to me. Then again, I always close the doors.
@@LycanFerret Ohhh, I didn't know that. I haven't played it in a while either. 🤷🏻♀️

If we could marry Robin, all of that would be solved

Also (don't know about other characters) he doesn't betray his dream, his dream just changed. It's common and there is nothing bad. He isn't unhappy, to the contrary, he is very much happy with his family role. It's not any kind of sacrifice.
The spouse fact is why I married Shane
He has no dreams or faith in life until you come along and he starts to slowly open up and be happy with you, you don't make him give up on his dreams (because he doesn't have any) AND make him happy
Doesn't he go right back to being an alcoholic tho..?
@@artemisameretsu6905 you mean the cutscenes where we catch him "drinking"? If yes, eventually we find out that he's been drinking a lot of soda and playing arcade games
(Diabetic? Yes. Alcoholic? Never.) Lol
@@artemisameretsu6905No. He just has the occasional drink or two. If you treat him like ass, however, he'll relapse. Keep those hearts up
Nah, after you marry him he goes straight back to alchohol. He himself keeps mentioning that he is still drinking.
Yes, that is the only thing if you give him the benefit of the doubt that the cans in his spouse rooms are non-alcoholic and see the positive reaction he has to gifting him a beer as a dev oversight.
@@alisana8346 Tbh, imagine being so depressed to the point of suicide contemplation and you get close enough to someone that you fully realize how fucked up you are and get help. Now imagine that same person marrying you, then treating you like shit (Ignoring you/possibly giving shit gifts) and/or divorcing you out of the blue. You'd feel crushed and probably turn back to your vices too since they have been the only constant
Okay now I feel guilty about marrying Sam for the fifth time in a row 😭
he still does music stuff at least! 🥹
He literally moves out of his parents house and Spoiler
Gets a pretty good but realistic first job for a musician. Is just playing guitar in a garage band and living at home with your parents that much better?😅
@@fleacythesheepgirl but he's such a sweet guy and he just wants to be a lil man child rockstar 😭😭😭😭
I stay hating on demetrius AND Robin for not sticking up for her son at all
Sebastian girl run girl run 🚶♂️
Edit: also it's super sad that Maru literally has no idea why sebastian doesn't like her and wants to have a brother but Robin and Demetrius are messing that up with favoritism.
Oh my God! every time I would get the message about my livestock being paranoid about something bad that happened last night. I literally thought that like it was just like a warning or like just some lore. I never even realized that my animals were going misssingggggg!!!!!! 😭😭😭😭
I literally would just not even shut the door, literally ever literally ever. I didn’t think that anything could happen to your animals.
It doesn't happen if you don't shut the door, it happens if you DO. The animals are forced to stay outside for the night, which is when they're vulnerable to wolves.
@@Lonely_Moth Wait but is that from the new update or has that always been a thing? If so then ig I've gotten so lucky cuz I've accidentally locked out my sheep so many times😭
@@CorniestCob nah, it's been there for ages. I myself lost a chicken to this thing and has never closed that little door ever since...
@@Lonely_Moth holy crap, I've just been lucky then. Cuz I've accidentally locked animals out before and I've locked a stubborn sheep out once and nothing has happened. Also I'm sorry to hear about your chicken. I'd be so sad to find that my little chicken had gotten scooped up out of nowhere😭
@@CorniestCob I was, thank you! Wish you luck with closing the big doors in dark hours, so that you wouldn't click the little one by accident, lock the animals in and loose friendship! 🥰
Elliot got a letter in the mail within the 1st month of us being married about his book, i let him have his week long tour even though it seemed a bit sad since my character was pregnant with our 1st kid.
I relate to Sebastian to a rather depressing point. I know his pain in a way some people hopefully dont. And if you do;
Im sorry, and you deserve better than that
no because i was litterly dating sebastian and demetrius’s dialogue was always about maru because we had TWO hearts.
Actually reading the secret notes. If you love sebastian but not romantically, just know he probably wouldve ended up with sam. Sam has a list of what everyone he knows likes (its also how you find out him and abigail are friends through sebastian cause she isnt on the list)
and seb it top of the list. Also paired with sams dream and sebs dream I can see them running away together and checking in on abigail and her adventuring years down the line.
NO HAT MOUSE POOR BABY T^T
My heart is broken, you must be in pieces having to give such news 😭
can’t speak for every husband/wife but elliot continues to pursue his dreams! his event after marriage was so cute
Maru continues to work at Harvey's clinic on the same schedule. And she continues with "her own projects" at home.
@@meh8982 - You are Correct, my apologies
During winter, Sebastian will mention how he built a snow dragon and Demetrius told him to get rid of it, but Maru's snowman got to stay.
My mouth DROPPED when I found out at the start 😭❤️
Honestly Shane in a way keeps his dream alive. He quits JojaMart, moves onto the farm and still takes care of his blue chickens. He even stays sober during the marriage (if you talk to him at the saloon on Fridays he says “don’t worry it’s jojacola”) Shane just wanted the simple life of raising his chickens
my ideal marriage candidate has always been abby and it’s perfect. her dream was just to adventure and explore the mines. i got the npc adventures mod and she and i go on so many mining expeditions together.
Harvey continues running the town clinic and I'm so proud of him
Eliott goes on a book tour, so he definitely didn't give up his dream
I love that the added 14 hesrt events made it so most (haven't checked all yet) show that their dreams either continued, or shifted.
Not to mention one of Sebby's new dialogue lines in 1.6: "People are like skipping stones. Eventually, we'll sink." (not exact)
Nah it's been in the game for a long time. It's always the second line of dialogue you get when you speak to him
@@__carmine that's wild, I've pursued him in every route I've played and I guess I just never saw it
That's not new. It annoyed me all through 1.5. I don't know about before that.
Penny's dream is to be a wife and mother, and she definitely doesn't give up on that. It's no less of an admirable dream than any of the others!!
Harvey still goes to the clinic every tuesday and thursday and once in a while he still making his his little planes i love him
That why I relate to Sebastian so much man I feel him
After marrying Sebastian he practically tells me every day how much he loves me or how grateful for me he is that I take care of him and put his needs before mine.
That's why i like being krobus's roommate
Me marrying Leah and Elliot and watching them pursue their dreams while also helping out on the farm :0
The last fact is truly heartbreaking 💔😭
I mean, not all give up on their dreams. (I know leah and elliot dont)
Harvey...gave up on his dreams before he became a doctor. So like, no part of my hand in marrying him did that.
#hatingonDemetrius2024
I can confirm that Elliot doesn’t actually give up on his dream! While married to him he goes on a (maybe more I haven’t gotten too far into the marriage) book signing tour and sends you letters!
That's crazy about the wolves. I've never left my animals outside at night so that makes sense why I've never seen the message or heard them howl
When you marry Elliott he doesn’t give up on his novel and even goes on tour with it when you reach 14 hearts! He writes to you every day for a week straight about his travel to the city.
Sebastion said that Demotrious made him knock down the snow goon he made, but Maru gets to keep hers up.
Haley has been my favorite so far. I wish she would actually decorate once you acquire the catalogs, and she has everything at her disposal.
Elliot still writes poems and enjoys my beautiful farm land much more than his small beach shack, I think if he did give up on some sort of dream it’s only because he walked into a new dream, something so rare and full of love, something he’d never give up for 1000000 iridium bars.
in Expanded version, Lance continues his research and working to protect the lands, my man uwu
I feel like Elliot doesn't give up on his dream, he always wanted to stay in the valley but his writing wasn't going well and you meet him you basically become his muse, cure his loneliness, and give him a great reason to stay in the home that he has grown to love.
Elliott still writes
I guess adding Shane's entire arc would be too easy LOL
That’s why Elliott’s my favorite! He doesn’t give up on his dreams, his ten heart event is literally him following his dreams while still caring for the player :)
Penny doesn't give up on her dreams by marrying you. She achieves them.
Ima cry cause the poor hat mouse has wet hats 😢😢😢
#4 luckly doesn't apply to everyone though. Leah, for example, just keeps on making sculptures, except now she does it on your farm.
demetrius has a book on his shelf about tips for first time step-parents that he CLEARLY must not have read, ever
I have the bus stop issue, I just noclip around the cliff haha
Well there is a mod that fixes the Hat Mouses' House. The mod is called "Hat Shop Restoration.".
That’s why krobus is amazing! He never had any dreams to begin with and he is honestly the nicest npc in the entire game. He unites his people with the humans and it’s too freaking wholesome. Love krobus.
Bro was about to cry on the mouse hat part
That's what I love about Elliot. Even after marriage, he still pursues his writing career.
That’s why I marry Shane, he has no dreams to give up on. 😅
This is why elliot is peak he still writes his book and even goes on a book tour and sends you the sweetest letters. No giving up on dreams for him and he gets running water on the farm
Sam still the cute guitar player that I married tho 👌
