I always juice a 1-2 ice cubes before I "juice" and then juice into the crushed ice (makes and keeps the juice cold). When I am done juicing, I then "juice" 4-5 ice cubes to clean out my machine and even the fine mesh areas are cleaned well with this process. After that, it only needs a once over with a soapy sponge and then rinsed well .
This is the recipe I've stuck with for 10 years, with slight variations... This approximately one 12 oz serving... 2 apples, 3 carrots, 5 big leaves of kale (or 1/2 bundle spinach), 1/2 lemon, 1/2 thumb size of ginger.
