His first game you really see how resourceful a titled player is and the composure and experience they have. The amount of times I’d feel pressure in tactical moments and calculating lines correctly, he sees so many resources and ideas. I played a grandmaster last week and it was very much the same, I’m only 1200 so of course I’m amazed by it but, man, it’s remarkable to see just how resourceful they are.

40:12 Levy: Traps the knight using his king, two pawns, and two rooks-> over 12 points of material Knight: Look how much they need just to mimic a FRACTION of our power.
Hey Levy. I started a few months ago with only playing king´s indian and Pirc defense. You only need this 2 openings and forget about the rest for black wich is great for me as a sub 1600 player. Therefore, I´m very glad to see this series you made. I also watched a lot tutorials about this opening before, but when watching you playing it, I also learn a lot of new things and it is somehow easier to understand/memorize this way. It´s very instructive and helpful, thanks alot!
Another great one Levy - Thx bro! I predict you will be over 200k in the next few months, your content is just so great and the teaching is very easy to follow. Cheers!
For a long time my favorite pizza topping was pepperoni and sausage. Pretty basic. I would experiment with other more wacky choices like chicken and bacon on an Alfredo pizza (its a thing dont @me), and yet I would always find myself coming back to the same tried and true pepperoni and sausage. Every order that I would place something to branch out eventually I would just regret not getting pepperoni and sausage. And then things changed. I became the Assistant Manager in Training of a local Dominos réstáuranté and pizzeria and I could try so many new flavors and combinations, things I'd never even imagined. I did the math once on how many possible arrangements of 3 topping pizzas you can have, a number I have since forgotten, but the point is it was a lot, and I tried most. I tried so many different types of pizza in my time there that now I'm pretty sick of pizza. And that's why I don't have a favorite pizza topping

I watched this video when it came out years ago, but came back to work on my game, now I am a huge UFC fan. love to hear some positive stuff about Khabib. one of my favorite as well.
Can you please continue into the 1400 if you have time! I’m currently a 1303 and use the this opening almost every time I’m black. Thank you levy for these beautiful videos
I've been watching and learning. Very fast paced, but that makes me have to learn faster. I'm really liking the King's Indian opening. Going to work on the Dutch for black and London for white. Thanks for the videos 👍🏻
@10:41 ... Italian Sausage, Onion, Jalepenō, Pineapple, Canadian Bacon....Sometimes minus the Pineapple, since the Canadian Bacon supplies a good amount of sweetness...
I'm so surprised that no one plays e5 against this setup against Levy. I get it all the time and the game looks so different that what I've seen in this series
Watching all the rating climbs glad you ended up playing against all of your best setups for both sides. Bought e6b6 hopefully I'll get better soon, thanks Levy!
He asked, so I gotta say, I love pastrami, salami, and a lot of vegetables, then oil vinegar, salt and pepper. Makes a ton of flavors all come together neatly and nicely.
Rookie question I know, but I'm new so forgive me - why does he recommend taking with the trade with f4 bishop pretty much every time? Isn't bishop better than knight, or is it a positional thing?
The board will most likely be closed and Bishops are only better in open positions and it's hard to know what to do with the light squared Bishop in Pirc/ King's Indian positions so that's why but if you wanna do the "best" thing with the Bishop, nothing, just nothing and continue with your plan of e5 and f5 and most likely since the pawns are on dark squares the light squared Bishop is a key attacking piece i'd recommend you check out Levy's video, "When Hikaru "sacraficed" his queen 6 times" which nicely shows how the King's Indian is played and how you use the light squared Bishop well
I am a beginner, and after watching this play list, I absolutely love the King Indian defense. I've now practiced it against other beginners, and they all crumble under the pressure!
I love playing against the Pirc in bullet (I play 1 e4). I end up playing h4, h5 and after Nxh5, I sac the exchange to shatter his King's position with my minor pieces joining the attack very quickly.
I have an old tv and the template you use for your videos gets cropped a bit. There's no setting that fixes it without distorting the image too much. It would be better to upload with a different screen ratio or increase a bit the padding outside the board. Love the channel.
Hearing you speak Russian prompts me to relate this account that happened in 1976. A radio talkshow host played Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev, who was the chairman of the communist party of the Soviet Union, speaking in a speech. The host played a section of the speech twice. Once backward and normal. The host challenged callers to identify which was which. To the untrained ear, the Russian language sounds as if people are speaking backward. Thank you for making these videos. Best wishes always, Mark
Why do you start with pawn? Isn't it Pirc defense then? What's the difference? When you were rating opening with Hikaru you rated Pirc defense below King's Indian.
Because if you open with the knight to F6 you can be walked into an Alekhine's Defense with E4 pushed to E5, which I'm presuming he didn't want to play. Also, openings are more than just one move...the Pirc defense has several follow up moves after D6
hey levy, i was the guy in chat asking why the a rook and not the f rook in the first game. was referring to your plan at 6:00. whats the reason behind attacking the queen with the a rook instead of the f rook? does it make a big difference?
Both rooks currently have a role: one is contributing to the defense of the king, while the other is contributing to the attack on the opponent’s king. The question is which of those roles you want to give up. It’s better to move the attacking rook because at this point it’s rather far from actually playing a direct role: it’s supporting the pawn push and is ready to be used once the way is clear but it isn’t necessary for the pawns to be pushed because they’re also supported by the Queen (and the Bishop, to a lesser extent). On the other hand, Levy’s defense of his King is rather fragile. His pawn structure opens himself up to diagonal attacks by the Bishop and the best way to protect is to play f5 as he does at 8:00. By this point in time the a-rook has already moved back to the a-file, but let’s suppose for a second that the game played out a little differently and he had a rook on the d-file. Looking at the board at 8:00 (right before he plays f5) would you rather have your a-rook or your f-rook on the d-file? Levy is aware that an attack along the weak white diagonal is the main threat to his King, and doesn’t want to dislodge a piece that will likely in the future help him repel an attack along the diagonal. Maybe he will have time to move the rook back (as ends up happening in the game) but maybe he won’t. Having the a-rook misplaced is a lot less dangerous than having the f-rook misplaced when the attack comes along the white diagonal.
No cap, my favorite pizza topping is super thin slices of fresh pineapple off a mandoline slicer. They get firm and toasty like a pepperoni slice instead of being soggy and juicy. Still gives you that great sweet flavor but no texture or moisture problems. Just add some pickled jalapeños and bam: sweet, sour, spicy, savory, salty, fatty, cheesy excellence. I bet that a lot of people who think pineapple on pizza is gross probably hasn’t had it the right way. It’s like saying mushrooms on pizza is gross because you put canned mushrooms on a DiGiorno.
I don't think it wins the queen (only exchange because of a7), but could win the knight if he accepts with bxa4. But he doesn't have to do that, he could push to b4 to bump your knight away, or just accept your pawn with his knight, which would still be protected by the b5 pawn. You could then trade both knights and queens to keep the files closed, but now you're down your A pawn and he can keep pushing his pawn and rook attack. It's a good line to look at though!
Your moves arnt the only moves. They arrive in the same position alot of the time, but based on what your opponent does they can be pretty different. It doesnt really matter though tbh.
It's bee n many years since I have played chess. All I had to play on wasvthe Kasparov mini led chess.i use to beat that chess game, on the highest level,9 times out of ten.the defence to win was always the Indian. I never knew the defense I used was called an in Indian. I do now.I say no more.
My grandad was a massive proponent of both the King's Indian and aggressively sacrificing pieces for positional advantage. Safe to say when you were speculating on sacking a piece off for an attack on the King it triggered some great flashbacks to my games with him as a kid.
Levy I wanted to find out what to do when someone pushed their pawns early(e5 attacks the knight and we trade queens. I know you said it's not good for white but I don't understand how, I will waste moves trying to protect my knight) but no one did:(
I relaxed and took a break from chess, I watched your vids and then studied the Viennese gambit and the kings Indian defence, my chess.com rating is now currently 1701, and it’s your teaching that did that.
Levy can you please show why the Yugoslav/English attack like structures, say, the Sämisch(or even the Bf4 Nc3 long castle you suggested) are not that easy to play against black in the KID and just h4 h5 sac sac mate like in the Dragon? Most of the time I try to employ the same concepts of the Yugoslav against black in the KID but it just never works in my favour.
Can you play kings Indian by white and if can can you play kings Indian against kings Indian you've said in the vid you can play kings Indian pretty much against any opening
