Same here.... It's a POS....I guess you have to have a router....I assumed it would connect to by Bluetooth or hotspot on my android...Yea believe me I'm just as pissed off too 👊👍👍👍🍻
I have no idea what you're talking about. Who has more than one wifi connection? I have a 5G phone with data and can turn on my wifi. I intended to use it to connect to my camera, doesn't work. Tapo C300 is useless.
EVERYONE has more than one Wi-Fi signal option in the router. I’m not talking about having an extra router but just enable the 2.4GHz signal on it. The 5Ghz technology came after the 2.4GHz, so In the past everyone only had this option, which means your router MUST have it but it is only disabled. It’s not the camera fault. MOST devices still use the 2.4 GHz bandwidth. Just because phones have the 5 GHz available doesn’t mean the camera is a bad product. It’s just a question of understanding how to use the technology at your disposal. I hope you can understand that now.
@@SarahJMTaylor 90% of the cameras such as Ring, Arlo, Blink, etc use 2.4GHz because it's a cheaper and widely spread technology. Wi-Fi routers also come with the option for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. Yours should have the 2.4Ghz enabled enabled during the first setup since it's the most popular option. I see that most users are not technical, but this is just a question of checking a button to enable it, either you log into your router to do it or ask somebody to help you with that. You see that is not a problem on the camera side? It's using the most common technology.
It depends on the error. Did you check if it's a password error, or perhaps you are trying to connect the camera to the 5Ghz WiFi Band instead of 2.4Ghz. Some cameras can work with the 5GHz WiFi and some don't. Perhaps your Xiaomi connected to the 5Ghz. Check if you have the 2.4Ghz enabled and available in your router.
If you have more than one device with the Tapo app installed, go check in the app store and see what device is listed!. I was going insane until I noticed the app store listed my SECONDARY device (not where my previous Tapos were set up). I thought What the Hell.. and tried installing the new camera from the secondary device. The "can't connect, wrong password" problem vanished and suddenly I could connect to my Wifi. I could still set up and control the camera from my main device afterward. Hope this helps someone.
blud same, I'm currently facing the same issue. i removed my device (that's what tha tapo app said) cus we changed our WiFi password and it will connect to my phone's wifi but not on the tapo app, I can't find my device. it won't pair😔

Having same problem! Complete waste of money
something that MIGHT fix the issue as it did for me : restart your wifi router and try the whole process again

@@SmartDevicesChannel I think my point is that if I can't set it up as a general user it is of no use to me.

@@SmartDevicesChannel I think I will just forget it and get a home security camera that does not connect to the internet.
Do you intend to connect the camara to your phones hotspot?
Hi. Can you please help me with my tapo device? It always says that I can't receive ip address. My wifi is currently in dcph
Reset the câmara and also make sure your router has the 2.4GHz bandwidth available
my tapo device is not connecting in my wifi router i think the problem is the wifi because we have xiaomi camera and it doesn't have any problems
