It's not disappear, actually it forced to be separated from Hinduism in name of religion,
While hinduism is only relegion which destroys any philosophy or statement that defines religion,
Instead it shows path as karma ... A good & meaningful karma .

Adi Sankara is commonly attributed to the revival of Hindu philosophy through debates and discourses throughout India. Before his time Buddhism was very prevalent in India. Remember that in those days, if a local ruler switched religion, all his subjects followed suite.

Another reason is that Hindus belive in good and Buddhism is related to Gautam Buddha teaching

I think people ignore the history of Buddhism in southern India, the rivalry between Jainism and Buddhism, how Bakthi movement put an end to the growth of both Buddhism and Jainism in Tamil countries. How Palla empire of Bengal used Buddhism to attract southeast and east Asian traders, and how Cholas take the control of the trade back from Buddhist Kingdoms of India and outside, all of those played a huge part in why Buddhism can't take a hold in India and the final nail in coffin came in the form of Islamic invasion, almost every Buddhist majority kingdom in India and outside became Islamic nation.

Well not really, Buddhism had 'almost' gone extinction from India for over 600 years not until the early 20th century because of prominent missionary figures like Anagarika Dhammapala and Dr Ambeddekar it experiences a noticeable revival. Within 100 years the number of Buddhist adherents only takes up less than 0.7% of the Indian population.

      Being a German
you may like to visit Das Buddhistische Haus in Berlin Frohnau in Germany.
It is the oldest Theravada Buddhist Temple in Europe.Founded in 1924 by a German Buddhist named Dr. Paul Dahlke and after he died in 1928, the property was bought in 1957 by a young Sinhalese businessman from Sri Lanka, named Asoka Weeraratna. The latter founded the German Dharmaduta Society in 1952 and led the first Buddhist Mission to Germany from Sri Lanka in 1957 with three Buddhist monks. It is a fascinating story. Das Buddhistische Haus will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of its founding on August 3rd and 4th of this year 2024. You may get more information by contacting the Temple.

Buddhism has become so ritualistic that even gouthama is torchered to have sex in tantric Buddhism.

Although Buddhism originated in India, the Sinhalese of Sri Lanka have managed to maintain Buddhism for a long time by using very hard work in the history of thousands of years. Sri Lankan Buddhists were very dedicated to rebuilding the destroyed temples, facing more than 30 years of litigation in Indian courts to assert the rights of Buddhists to all major Buddhist temples in India.

Yes, Prince Sidhuhath was born in Lumbini, Nepal. As a Buddhist, I also went to that place and worshiped. We thank the government and the people of Nepal for protecting that place well. But the Buddhists know very well that Indians use the word Buddhism only for diplomatic strategies and to earn money from tourists who come to visit Buddhist temples. In fact, it is because of the intervention of the Buddhist monks of Sri Lanka and the Buddhists of the main Buddhist countries that the most important Buddhist temples of the Buddhists are maintained. This is the reality of Buddhism in India.

Nope bruh. The one who destroyed it was Cholamandala... That's the reason why our ancestors abandoned Nalanda and used Borobudur as the new center of agama Buddha... Malacca strait is named after mleccha/foreigners... And we abandoned the caste system... We use raja-resi/begawan system... Cakrawala cakrawartin or raja as panatagama/religious figure... That's the reason why when our kings embraced Islam in the 16th century, all the population followed them... However, Aji Saka/Ajiwaka became our unifying figure by Muslims, Hindus and Buddhist... Unfortunately we can't find his legacy in Kali Serayu river/Bumi Majeti (his birthplace)... In Indonesia we cherished our ancestors legacy...

I am a Theravada Buddhist from Sri Lanka.
Hinduism is the oldest religion in the world, which is more than 5000 years old. Almost 80% of the Indian population are Hindus. There is a strong social class system and a caste system in India. Buddhism is dead against this. Lord Buddha said “ONE BECOMES SUPERIOR OR INFERIOR NOT BY BIRTH, BUT BY BEHAVIOUR.” This is one reason why Buddhism could not thrive in India.
The second reason is Buddhism is a non-god based religion, which makes it a philosophy, rather than a religion that worship an external supreme being and asking for favours for survival. Lord Buddha said “YOU ARE YOUR OWN SAVIOUR” which is just the opposite. So Buddhism did not stand a chance of thriving in India among strong god believers.
There is no known prophet or a single founder of Hinduism, while Buddhism is a one-man band. Hindus believe in several Gods. In god-based religions, children are being taught by their elders and teachers, not to ask questions about the God and his creations, as they will go to hell. So they keep quiet without investigating the facts OUT OF FEAR OF GOING TO HELL.
Lord Buddha was the only religious leader in the world, who said “DO NOT BELIEVE IN ANYTHING JUST BECAUSE BUDDHA SAID IT. Investigate, analyse, and find evidence.” So Buddhists or non-Buddhists will never go to hell for debating about Buddha or Buddhism. This is just the opposite of God-based religions. This is the third reason why Buddhism could not thrive in India.
Prince Siddhartha, who was born a Hindu with an analytical and logical mind, was disappointed when he learned the truth about life of being born, getting old, falling sick, suffer, and die, which God could not control.
He wanted to investigate and find out how to stop being born in order to end suffering. So he renounced all his royal comforts, left the palace, left his family, became an ascetic, abstained from all evils, indulgence and extremes, and engaged in deep meditation for seven years. Finally he was enlightened, attained Buddhahood, and put an end to rebirth that ended suffering.
When he tried to disclose to Hindus about his revelations, he was being rejected. Buddha said that not many people would understand his doctrine (Buddha Dharma) and have the motivation to learn his meditation techniques. At the end, he found people who have the required mindset.
Lord Buddha made it clear that HE IS NOT A SAVIOUR BUT A TEACHER. He was on a mission to teach others on how to save themselves from suffering by mastering his teachings. And he accomplished his mission.
Being a Buddha is not monopolistic. Anyone can become a Buddha through deep meditation. But every Buddha is NOT capable of teaching others. Prince Siddhartha, whose name was changed to Gautama Buddha after the enlightenment, is the twenty ninth Buddha that was born on this planet.

"I agree that India has a strong caste system. However, I'd like to point out that caste systems or racism exist in some form in many countries, including Sri Lanka. As a psychologist who has attended several sessions on Buddhist meditation, I have immense respect for Buddhism and its principles. Interestingly, I've noticed that the concept of
'Guna-Karma-Vibhaga' (division based on qualities and actions) mentioned in the Bhagavad Gita is similar to Buddhist teachings. However, I disagree with the Buddhist concept that women cannot attain Nirvana unless reborn as men. In contrast, Hinduism believes that every individual can attain Moksha, regardless of gender.
Regarding the concept of God, I agree that Hinduism has multiple deities, but we believe in the unity of truth, as reflected in the phrase 'Ekam Sat Vipraa Bahudha Vadanti' (Truth is one, but the sages know it by many names).
I'm surprised by your statement that Hindu parents teach their children about hell; in reality, we use simple, child-friendly explanations, such as cartoon movies and short stories, to help them understand the concept of creation. As they grow older, individuals are free to choose their own path, as enshrined in India's law, which guarantees freedom of religion."

I started visiting a Buddhist monastery in CA, I was so sad when I had to move. I loved the meditation, I felt uplifted for hours afterward. You asked, "Why do you think Buddhism disappeared from India"? I do not know why but belief systems around the world are changing, I see it in my own family I can count 5 or more different religions. Most of the family have moved away from the way they were raised. I think that is for a few reasons. 1. So religions will shun you if you have a child out of wedlock (many years ago, mostly). 2. Some religions build Men up, making them feel like powerful heads of household. 3. Poverty made some not want to celebrate holidays, as they felt they could not afford to. 4. So religions did not encourage certain career choices. 5. Some followed their husband's religion, leaving their own. 6. Some of us were raised without religion and loosely chose our own beliefs, not attending any church. 7. Those who question the structure of churches and their hierarchy. There are so many reasons

@@AjithKumaraTube There is a thought that Buddhism may have been known among the earlier inhabitants of Sri Lanka before the ceremonial introduction of the doctrine by the Indian Emperor Dharmasoka through his son Mahinda's encounter with the Sri Lankan king who converted to Buddhism. According to archaeologists and historians, ideologies from Northern India travelled from the 6th century BC to the South along India’s trade network, both overland and via the sea, the author of Mahavamsa gives a documentation of the Visits of Lord Buddha to Sri Lanka.

Gandhara Buddha statues are so beautiful. Mahayana Buddhism in northern China was transmitted from Gandhara, Afghanistan. The Gandhara Buddha statues have profoundly influenced our Mahayana Buddha statues.
