Pakistani fast bowlers particularly the trio of Wasim, Waqar and Shoaib kept off stump line while bowling at him, and denied him the opportunity to go berserk. However, Robin Singh compensated through his bowling and fielding whenever he has not able to perform with the bat. He was undoubtedly one of the best all rounders in the history of Indian cricket.

Robin Singh originally hailed from Trinidad and Tobago a Caribbean Nation in the West Indies and came to Madras in Tamil Nadu for studying in the early 80's.But gradually he went on to play cricket thereafter and while representing Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy made an immediate impact.Later he had played over a hundred one day limited overs matches for India in a decade as useful impressive dependable all-rounder.Although not much talented to have a glittering career he was extremely fit hard working dedicated cricketer and was the best Indian fielder since Eknath Solkar.

Robin Singh Senior a brilliant Indian all-rounder who represented Indian ODI in the late 90s. Robin Singh deserved to make his Indian team debut before 1987 Cricket World Cup instead of selecting Manoj 'Chorikar' (Prabhakar) when he was in great form in his debut Ranji Trophy season of 1985 and he should have also featured in 2003 World Cup in stead of Sanjay Bangar (just like VVS Laxman deserved 2 be selected instead of Dinesh Mongia) as his final ODI tournament appearence when was in supreme form in Ranji Trophy 2002-03 season. The cricketing genius whose career should have lasted in team India for full 17 years instead of barely 4 years. Shame on the former supremo Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya and his ill advised selection of players in BCCI that they have shot down Robin Singh's career.........a man who had the full potential to be a legend. Not to forget......Robin Singh was the man who influenced the likes of Yuvraj Singh & Mohammad Kaif to be a brilliant fielder for team India. Robin Singh's role as fielding coach was a memorable acheivement when India won the very 1st T-20 World Cup in 2007.
