I think the fact that the real rex was so quiet compared to it's movie counterpart makes it even scarier. Imagine something like that sneaking up on you and by the time you realize something's off it's too late.

    • @deinsilverdrac8695
      @deinsilverdrac8695 6 месяцев назад +35

worse even it used low frequency sound.
Imagine you're in a swamp like the everglade, or in a pine forest, it's dusk, there's some mist it's quite dark.
And suddenly you're hearing a very deep growl so powerfull and deep you practically feel it pass through your body, like loud music speaker. As your raise your head to see a large dark silhouette and two eyes that seem to reflect light a bit.

@@deinsilverdrac8695 The idea that something that big could be right there beside you without you ever knowing is the very definition of primal fear. It wouldn't even need to attack. You can feel something's off. You can't see it, you can't hear it, but it's there all the same. It could attack at any time and you wouldn't know, or be able to stop it when it did. It would be the most powerless feeling imaginable.
If you're lucky enough to get out in one piece, you leave never knowing you were at the mercy of something that looks at you the same way a cougar or wolf would regard a rabbit. It didn't let you go because of mercy or pity. It just wasn't hungry that day. But who knows if you'll be that lucky next time.

Imagine being in a dense forest during the Late Cretaceous. The sun is setting, darkness is taking hold of the forest, and visibility is decreasing. Then... this sound is heard.
Judging by sound alone, I don't think it's very obvious whether it belongs to a huge creature, or a tiny one sometimes. This is apparent if the person in such a scenario has no idea what a large predatory dinosaur like Tyrannosaurus rex might've sounded like.
Perhaps the most ominous part about this is that hearing these sounds alone might not give good indication as to whether the creature is simply passing by...
    Or about to close in...

So I grabbed some sound editing software, found a wav file of a quacking duck, and scaled it up to the size one might expect to hear from a Rex.

T-Rex's are ambush predator, opportunists, It probably wont even roar even if it is adgetated so you'd just hear loud thumping behind you getting closed and closer before you loose balance and get the biggest nom or the thing just snatches you mid run.
Least there's still signs that could alert you to a nearby T-Rex, but it sucks Hollywood makes you think T-Rex's just give themselves away to the things they're hunting in a 5 mile radius by doing the most iconic roars ever if not dramatic.
Hey maybe the iconic roar was actually a mating call this entire time.

The thing is, we wouldn't hear it. We would feel it.

Is it me or the t rex probably be some of the few dinosaurs that got a buff instead of getting nerfed after recent research?

Scientific speculation says that dinosaurs did not roar, but what sounds did they make when they got angry and felt threatened??

I think scientist said they would kinda sound like croc n gators. But rexy roar is still iconic n best for me personally.

Dinosaur Discovery on RUclips has a video talking about the Trex Sounds and this was posted 2 years ago. They reference Julia Clarke and hear team. I'm just curious where this vocals came from and what went into it

ich hab mir das ganze video angesehen und von dem geräuschen her hört sich das so nach einem lockruf an oder nach einen paarungsruf. auf jeden fall hört es sich an als wollte rex hier sich auf sich aufmerksam machen

I just talked to a scientist at the museum They told me that T-Rex has a soft tissue inside their throat that’s why they sound quietly. Also they told me sound like crocodiles sounds.
