  • Delicious Onion Bhindi Fry Recipe - Super Quick Fried Okra - Vegan Recipe - Bhindi Ki Sabzi
    This bhindi fry is super quick and easy to make. It is extremely delicious and will soon become your family favorite. Serve this with hot steamed rice or roti.
    Ingredient proportions for making fried okra -
    * 1 lb/453 gm okra(bhindi). Always wash the okra very well before cutting to minimize the slime. Pat them dry with a clean cloth this also prevents the okra from getting slimy while cooking. You can leave them whole if your bhindi are small in size.
    * 1 medium onion
    * 1 medium tomato
    * 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder(haldi)
    * 1 teaspoon kashmiri red chilli powder or 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper or 1 teaspoon paprika.
    * salt as per taste
    * 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
    * 1/4 th cup finely chopped cilantro(dhaniapatta). Can substitute parsley for cilantro.

    There is only one vegetable that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed and that’s okra. I do have to try this since your cooking tip shared a very important point; if fried them at a higher temperature it will get rid of the slime! I had no idea! 🤷🏻‍♀️ Thank you!

      I know it’s for the slime that people detest okra. I learnt this trick from my mom. Try it once but I would advise not to use frozen ones. Use fresh okras when they are in season and try this recipe. I am sure you will like it. Thanks for leaving a comment Dianna 🙏🏾

    Nice and easy recipe! You must be knowing, Bumbi, that in Bengali we call bhindi "dhyarosh," which figuratively also refers to a good-for-nothing fellow! Given my culinary skills, the dhyarosh epithet must go to me! So the recipe is tailor-made for me too. 😄😄

    this recipe looks similar to a recipe that a friend from Malaysia made for me many times. I can recreate all but the last part but I think I have it down finally. Saute sliced onion and chopped garlic. Add chili's now. Add chopped 1 inch pieces okra. Add chopped tomatoes. Top with crispy fried onions. Actually the crispy onions at the end were the only onions in the dish. But since I could not recreate the crispy fried, I sauted the onion in the beginning instead. This is good hot or cold. This is why I grow okra! Your thoughts on the recipe are appreciated.
