This will majorly age me, but I wonder how many people remember that Any Gibb cohosted the TV music show Solid Gold with Marilyn McCoo of the Fifth Dimension back in the early 80's.
Not only was this song written by Barry, but that’s Barry as the back-up singer on this song! Barry was back-up singer on this song, and on Andy’s two other number one songs!
I was so lucky to get to see him perform for the shadow dancing tour. My dad surprised me with last-minute tickets. He took me and my best friend. I think the fact that he went with us and had to listen to a bunch of little girls and teenagers scream the entire time showed that he'd go above and beyond for me. Andy Gibb was my first crush
Andy had no idea how talented he really was. I've seen several documentaries and he had low self-esteem. The feeling that he would never live up to the expectations placed upon him because he was the little brother of the Bee Gees was so unbelievable. Andy died on March 10, 1988 when he was 30 years old, and 10 days later, my brother, who was 29, died on March 20, 1988. My brother loved his music too and we always used to sing these songs together. Now, anytime I hear Andy's voice, a little sadness always creeps in. It's been 36 years and I still miss you my sweet brother.❤
Thanks for sharing. I know what you mean. Lost a sister to ovarian cancer in December 2012. Certain things that trigger the sadness and the wishing . . . I hope that mixed in with your sadness is some happiness from those memories too.
Oh my heart!! My teen crush! He died in 1988, I was 18 and in my senior year of high school. I remember crying off and on all day as if I knew him 🙄🤦🏼♀️ He was 30 when he died. Barry did write this song. "Shadow Dancing" was written by Andy by himself and "Love Is Thicker Than Water" was written by both of them. Andy wrote a lot more of his songs than people realize.
I was so crazy about Andy when he was blazing up the charts…. Amber has good taste. Gone way too soon. I actually own an item of Andy’s…won an auction at a Gibb fundraiser in Andy’s memory. I met the brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice at this fundraiser in Miami. A great memory.
@@NavvyMom it’s his leather travel bag (legal paper size) that he kept his travel itinerary in. The name Andy is in gold on the flap. Inside was a business card and sheet music to Shadow Dancing. I also was able to purchase a signed billboard chart where Andy was at number 1. His mother, Barbara Gibb, authenticated his signature
Yes, you heard Barry in the chorus. Andy is my favorite Gibb. I loved him since he debuted on the charts and couldn’t get enough records or posters. I had a life-sized cardboard cut out of him as a teenager.
The thing I love most about the Gibbs is that their songs ALWAYS celebrate the women they love, they're always so lovely and positive, especially toward women. You don't see much of that anymore.
"Rest Your Love on Me" is better, at least the first minute and twenty seconds. If I were a girl, that opening like that would've had me swooning, no doubt, but then ONJ went and ruined the rest of it. I usually like ONJ, but she wholly ruined what Andy put into that beginning. Too bad she didn't follow that lead, as she just seems too loud and harsh by comparison. I don't' know if they intended that or not, but it really ruined it for me that she didn't stay in the same tone as he did.
I seen Andy Gibb and the Alessi Brothers at Carowinds in Charlotte NC in 1978! Back then I was a screaming 16 year old girl and he was the biggest Heartthrob and we all were so in love with him! Gone too soon and I love him still and want to say to him "THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC AND THE MEMORIES! GOD BLESS!
Those Gibb brothers melodies! There’s nothing better, just perfect, you think ‘wow they can’t better than that’ then there’s even more coming. Lovely song. This one written solely by Barry.
The brothers Gibb were a very special talent. There has and will never be anything like them ever again! It's hard to believe there is only Barry still with us. I pray he will live a very long life x
Not rumor , I remember I remember the announcement in 1988. Unfortunately they wanted him to do one more album… he died while trying to write for that album. I heard he ask his mom “ I’m not going to die ?” Then went into cardio arrest. RIP
Great song! Andy and Barry had such similar sounding vocals and it always helped that Barry produced a good deal of Andy's music. It was just very special and so was the music of this era.
This is another song Barry wrote for his brother Andy. Barry Gibb will go down as one of the absolute greatest songwriters of all time. He wrote so many hits, for so many artists..its amazing. Barry is a legend
I was fortunate to have met all the Bee Gees on separate occasions. Barry Gibb is a national treasure, but he’s also had to bear the pain of burying his younger brothers, starting with Andy, the baby.
Next BeeGees PLEASE dive into their many chart topping hits from the 1960s!!!! (I Started a Joke, To Love Somebody, Words, Gotta Get a Message to You… SO many more!)
He produces and performs with his sons now,Stephen his eldest has played guitar for several heavy metal bands. He and some of his cousins perform some of their personal favorites on The Gibb Collective
70s Classic Rock fan here who loves The Bee Gees! Andy passed 3 weeks after my Dad passed, and I was heartbroken twice as, in Andy's case, the ELDER should never BURY the YOUNGER! This haunts Barry to this day, and that tells you much about the kind of man Barry is.
You should check out the Bee Gees live version of " Don't Throw it All Away ( our love ). Originally Andy sang this song. BUT, the Bee Gees live version of this is a tribute to Andy. The Bee Gees sing the first part of the song, then Andy sings the second half. All the while there are pictures of Andy scrolling on the large screen behind them ! No matter how many times I watch it, I always choke back tears !!!!!!!!
One of my childhood heartthrobs… That album cover brought back so many memories. I still remember all the words to this song. Thanks for bringing the memories!
Love the Gibbs . They are the best ever. Very parcel to Barry lol. Been a Bee Gee and Andy fan for years. I'm 65 so we go back awhile. I am to me the biggest fan of all. No one can ever compare. It's time for another Bee Gee reaction... Love yall from Texas ❤
Don't forget that Andy Gibb would have been 66 years old on March 5th .. Gone way too soon. But his music lives on and bringing new fans .. Happy Birthday Andy🎉
I got to see and got my hand held at this great man's concert in Fresno Ca! My friend lifted me up and he held it for a few seconds. We both were born in 1958 too. Andy you are truly missed by this fan RIP.
@@CyndiRoberts-m4s yes at the Selland Arena! So cool to connect with someone who was there too. It was my last day of school and then I got to see Andy Gibb that night. BEST DAY EVER!!!
The Bee Gees did back him up on a lot of songs as well as the songwriting. Love how all the brothers supported each other and their contributions to music as a whole. ❤❤
I had to wait to get to this video reaction! The Gibb brothers were so very talented along with Andy Gibb may the brothers who passed away rest in peace. My mom and I were in absolute shock when the article on his death in 1988 was in the paper.I was like WHAT?? I showed my mom the story, and she couldn't believe it, either.
Aaaah, Andy Gibb was my first Celebrity crush😊. The first time hearing “I want to be your everything”, his voice was so smooth. As Amber put it “charming” was Andy Gibb, as well as all the Brothers. Amazing talent. Love, Love, Love Andy.❤❤❤❤
To hear Andy's last song recorded, "Man on Fire", which was on Andy's greatest hits album. It was written by Maurice, Andy and Barry and Barry is singing with Andy on this one. It's an awesome song. RIP Andy, Mo and Robin. xxx
Such a smooth and beautiful song. Brings back so many memories of that "coming of age" time in my life. I had a poster of Andy Gibb alongside the famous poster of Tom Wopat and John Schneider with the General Lee (Duke's of Hazzard). I wish I had kept those posters. Such a wonderful time in life!!
I have never seen anyone have a better life than Barry Gibb To look like Jesus Christ, be the lead singer of a 70's phenomenon, be able to sing like an angel, wrote and produced all the songs, not just for his band, but others, like Andy Gibb, and then to outlive his family, no one has been more gifted, in my lifetime. They should rename Christmas, "Gibbness"
You really need to watch Andy's live performance of Words. The first time I saw it, I was literally speechless. I am so happy to see how Andy still affects people. I still remember the first time I heard I Just Want to Be Your Everything. It was at that moment that I fell in love with him, I was 10 years old. “An Everlasting Love” is the inscription on Andy’s tombstone. Such an incredibly talented performer.
That’s beautiful. This is my favorite song by him.
So this brings a tear to my eyes.
Not only was this song written by Barry, but that’s Barry as the back-up singer on this song! Barry was back-up singer on this song, and on Andy’s two other number one songs!
Think Barry did backing vocals on most of Andy's albums.
Yes the brother that Barry Gibbs admitted looked most like him. He said on an interview that Andy could have been his twin
Session singer John Sambataro is also singing background vocals on this track along with Barry and Andy.

Thinking of you during this time ❤ my father died 32 years ago tomorrow. Sending you love and light 🕯️🦋
Andy did an incredible duet with Olivia Newton-John - Rest Your Love On Me. It's beautiful.

Same. But, I was 24. I think I loved Andy Gibb more than I loved my husband. 😂
Same! Senior year for me as well, almost 18. I was so sad!
My junior year; I was 17, and it hurt so much when I heard. He was beloved, to be sure.

My favourite Andy Gibb song❤
Desire is another great song to check out.
One of my favorite songs, the song is a masterpiece, It just doesn’t get better than the dubbed harmonizing of his voice at the end of this song
The Gibbs were gifted with sound and Andy will always be remembered. RIP Mr. Andy Gib 🌟💐 your faithful follower. 11🫶👩🦳🎶🎤🫡
This is going to age me but I remember when he dated Victoria Principal. I believe she was 10 yrs older than him. He loved her❤
Oh I sure do remember that!!!
I still remember hearing the news Andy Gibb passed away. It's hard to believe it's been almost 36 years.
I can remember when he dated Marie Osmond and Olivia Newton-John, which was before Victoria.
Do kids today (jeez, how old am I?!?!? 🤣🤣🤣) know who Victoria Principal is? Or what Dallas was?!?!? 🤣🤣🤣🤣😊
Victoria Principal was considered his downfall.
When we were in school, my sister and almost every other teenage girl had an Andy Gibb poster on the wall.
Yes, you heard Barry in the chorus. Andy is my favorite Gibb. I loved him since he debuted on the charts and couldn’t get enough records or posters. I had a life-sized cardboard cut out of him as a teenager.
Take away Barry Gibb's beard, and I have no doubt that Barry and Andy are like two drops of water.
The thing I love most about the Gibbs is that their songs ALWAYS celebrate the women they love, they're always so lovely and positive, especially toward women. You don't see much of that anymore.
He had two great duets with Olivia Newton-John-Rest Your Love and I Can't Help It
Their live performances are beautiful....& both written by big bro Barry.🎼
He showed up in her Zanadu video.
Totally, 2 beautiful songs

Rumor has it that Andy was going to join The Bee Gees before he died. That would have been wonderful.
Can you imagine his voice making up a four part harmony. That would have been truly something.
I remember too! He was my high school crush.
It’s not a rumor. He already started performing with them.
Not rumor , I remember I remember the announcement in 1988. Unfortunately they wanted him to do one more album… he died while trying to write for that album. I heard he ask his mom “ I’m not going to die ?” Then went into cardio arrest. RIP
So much like Barry ❤ RIP
Great song! Andy and Barry had such similar sounding vocals and it always helped that Barry produced a good deal of Andy's music. It was just very special and so was the music of this era.
I wore out three Shadow Dancing albums......would set it up every night to play over and over all night
Jay requested an uptempo song by Andy and that would be "Time Is Time", which was a great song and a hit in 1980.
My fave Bee gee song. The outtro is like an angelic choir…
....you can tell the girl LIKES Andy a lot.
Love Love Love this song! Probably my favorite Andy Gibb song.
Don’t forget not only did Barry write this song, he did the backup vocals in his falsetto voice
It's a shame these Gibb brothers had to leave us too soon, especially Andy. RIP guys, thanks for all that joy!

Andy joined Olivia Newton John and ABBA on stage for a TV show. Ya'll ought to check it out.
FINALLY!!! This was my favorite song when I was a kid. I even had a little dance I use to do. 😄 Oh, the 70's. Good times.
Fun fact: In the 70's Robin left the group for a while. Their older sister Lesley took Robin's place for live performances.

It's.... about.... time! I've been waiting for someone to do a reaction to this song!
I liked Andy Gibb, Barry wrote probably 95% of Andy's songs. Before Andy passed, there was talk of him joining the Bee Gees.
