Bemidji had a sheriff some years ago that was determined to put a stop to the drugs, and gang activity in Beltrami County but others in law enforcement were going to have nothing with his cracking down on the crime, drugs and gangs. They trashed him so bad that it destroyed his marriage and drove him to the point of resigning. He went to Cass Lake and they did the same over there. Bemidji deserves what they are getting. They refuse to admit there is a problem or do anything about it. To many cops, lawyers and judges on the take. Didn't help when they had a cocaine addict for a prosecuting attorney. I can't imagine the prosecuting attorney they have now is any better. They just keep cutting repeat offender loose to commit another crime and do harm to someone else.
@@mikehawk2026 It has been awhile now and I am at a loss for his name, but even if I did recall his name I have not asked for his permission to share it here.
Who was the attorney? Who are you? Is there proof or some sort of evidence to back up what you are sharing online about the community representatives, public or government figures who are in place to oversee the best interest and wellbeing of the community? I understand being passionate and supportive of this officer you mention who cared. Why be disrespectful and air such accusations and accounts of character or the city as a whole without hesitation, yet, pause and respectfully omit the officer's name. Had he attempted to do such changes and endured hardship I would wish to know who he is before any of the others due to the fact that he actually went up against the grain. Our community of Bemidji and the surrounding counties/communities that are named in the collaborative law enforcement agreement, are all in need of great changes. How does any of that information tie into Bemdiji is deserving what it is getting? How so? This is truly concerning information. The community deserves to know more. What type of solution comes to mind when you think of this? How could our beautiful city prevent future violence? Reduce recidivism?
@@beautifulluna9670 It has been to many years and I don't recall his name. I had moved away and lost a lot of names over time. I can tell you this. He was an American Indian and the first sheriff Beltrami county ever had to my knowledge that ever admitted there was a problem and something needed to be done about it and he swore he would get it done and not turn a blind eye and pretend it wasn't happening. If I recall the newspaper reported the death of the prosecuting attorney that died of a cocaine overdose. I don't even remember the names of people I worked with in 2005. Peoples names who are not directly associated with my life I tend to forget. Who am I? I am a 56 year old man who grew up in the area and lived here all but nine years of my life and watched the community of Bemidji and surrounding communities go to hell because no one would admit there is a drug and gang problem. It has been spiraling downward worse than ever just in the past 10 years.
@@mikehawk2026 I believe he is talking about Sheriff Duane Rongstad (not sure if last name spelled correctly, that’s how it sounds) Attorney Tom Keyes died while jogging near Diamond Point Park I think in the 80’s when he was quite young. He was buried without much fanfare, but later exhumed and was found to be full of sniffin’ powder… a lot of the professionals were back then, including the cops and judges
Damn. Wonder what he did. It could be jealousy. You never know. My son dresses dope asf and we live in MPLS, in a poor neighborhood . all the other N8V kids that go to his high school are good to him, he never gets picked on, he stays to himself for the most part except at school. So jealousy? Idk unless he’s getting money, he’s a drug dealer. Drug deal gone bad?
It still is a nice place , theres crime , drugs and poverty everywhere in this country ... The degree of crime in Bemidji is minimal compared to other areas in MN . This is a destination , especially for Texans .
