      It's likely cleaned up a bit in post, but it's still a great tone and he's remarkably talented.

      Lots of shredders are doing that these days. Clean guitar tone is the new "thing" in prog/instrumetal. Ibanez even put out a Tim Henson signature nylon string acoustic-electric guitar. Where have you been? :)

    Apart from technical abilities, what makes Charles more alluring is his melodic approach. What a musician!

      The exact reason why i also love ichika compared to a lot of other modern guitarists. Tim henson and generally polyphia have ridiculous technique, but their songs are not easy to listen to because of their techniques. Ichikas music is very soothing, complicated, yet very easy to follow

    One thing I've noticed is that, no matter how busy and technical your playing gets, it's always cleanly-executed and highly, HIGHLY melodic. I know you're a bassist almost full-time, but I for one would LOVE to see you have a slap guitar/slap bass/piano trio video. That'd be...amazing.

    If you made me listen to this for the first time with my eyes closed, I could've sworn it was Ichika. A bassist playing the guitar on this level this nonchalantly is mind-blowing.

      There's something with playing piano as the first instrument. Both ichika and charles did that. And both actually started out on bass. Ichika started playing guitar when he was 15 i think while charles stayed with bass

      Practice learning plenty of songs from different genres and also keep an eye on how certain musicians play their instruments, you might find a technique that works right for you.

      Ide say he's listen to a life time of different music with his ears and practice. Some people listen to music differently than other people, and his brain has absorbed a little bit of everything I imagine.

      Too few? He's basically a new channel still. He's had a ton of growth and he's at the point where he has so many subs that it's nearly impossible for him not to branch out away from RUclips in some form or another. That's the way it should be. It's easy to forget how big those numbers are when you see bigger numbers all the time but 1.5 million is a lot. Even 100,000.. concert tickets, merch, physical and digital album sales. That could be millions and millions of dollars 👍 I hope he's so successful he never has to show his face on RUclips again. He's that good

    I started playing guitar again after a 27 year hiatus following the theft of all my equipment which was irreplaceable at the time, and I just became an appreciative but heartbroken listener. But while scrolling through RUclips videos one evening about 5 months ago I came across a man named Charles Berthoud playing 4 Green Neon Strings. I was absolutely blown away and spent the whole day in complete awe listening to one of his videos after another.
    A few days later on my next day off from work I went to guitar center and bought two guitars. I now have 6 and a Marshall JVM 205H head and 4X12 cab and am practicing every waking hour that Im not at work. Thanks Charles! You woke up the music in my soul again!
